Been using this for a few years and haven't had any issues. It makes my older CPU (Ryzen 7 3700X) perform better in games and thanks to it my 16 gigs of ram are still enough for what I do. (Playing g... See more

Hi Denis,

Thanks for giving Atlas a go, and I’m really sorry it didn’t go as planned.

It sounds like what you experienced—lower FPS and lag—wasn’t due to a bug in Atlas itself, but more likely from missing or incorrect drivers. During installation, you probably picked the Manual Driver Installation route, which means Windows Update won’t fetch things like your GPU or other drivers automatically.

Automatic Driver Installation: Let Windows Update handle everything. It’s the easiest route if you want drivers installed and kept up to date for you .

Manual Driver Installation: Fine if you like control—but you’ll need to install things yourself. That includes graphics drivers (Intel/iGPU and/or NVIDIA/AMD), audio, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, chipset, etc. We walk you through this in the post-installation guide.

If your display driver wasn’t set up properly, it would explain the lag during Atlas but smooth gameplay when you reverted to stock Windows.

Here’s what you can try next:

If you’re up for it, reinstall Atlas using the Automatic Driver Installation option—Windows will grab all essentials for you.

If you prefer Manual, make sure you:

Install GPU drivers (Intel and/or NVIDIA/AMD) following our driver guide.

Add any missing system drivers, like Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth, using the post-install guide or your OEM’s site.

And remember, our Discord and GitHub communities are always happy to help walk you through it if you want to give it another go!

Thanks again for trying Atlas. We really want to help you get the experience it’s designed for—and we’re here if you decide to come back.

Atlas staff team is a joke

The Atlas user experience is fantastic and streamlined. However, it falls short due to the poor choice of staffing in their Discord server, a few individuals I will not name (you know who you are) that are (1) homophobic, (2) transphobic, (3) generally rude, and (4) targeting people they dislike to moderate the server in their own image and not for the good of the community, as well as being chiefly hateful and arrogant to others. This has driven multiple good people out of the server and it's a mark of poor moderation and poor human beings in general. There are multiple accounts of s*xual abuse and harassment that have not been dealt with properly, in addition to cases of tolerance for online STALKING.
Like I said, you know who you are, and you'll know who's writing this if so.

Hi there,

We are glad to hear you enjoy the AtlasOS experience, but we are extremely concerned by the rest of your review. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding homophobia, transphobia, harassment, and abuse of power within our community.

These are serious allegations. Since your report concerns members of the moderation staff, we urge you to contact the project leadership directly via email at contact@atlasos.net. This ensures your report will be reviewed by upper management and will bypass the specific staff members you are referring to.

We want AtlasOS to be a safe space for everyone. Please provide us with any evidence you have so we can investigate and take appropriate action immediately.

TLDR: try it out its great!

props the atlasos devs to make a stable windows version!
my dumb pc would freeze up at all times so i went in and changed to atlas os and im not gonna lie everything feels a lot more snappy! (maybe its just the removal of animations but whatever) also ive realised that my pc does a lot less noise using this os and ive noticed a slight fps increase in every-game ive played recently! anyways yeah check it out if your pc is crappy and you need that freshness that comes with using an OS for the first time.

Best OS Customizatsion

I use AtlasOS for about 1,5 years. And i can tell, that that customizatsion for your os is the gratest option for mid-low range PC's. It can boost your perfomance :)

I’ve been using AtlasOS for maybe a little over a year now, I’ve noticed pretty good performance increases and definitely less ram and cpu usage. I really like AtlasOS and I think it’s the best optimization you can use at the current point in time.

It shuts down services windows depends on

i installed atlas os yesterday and this morning I booted my PC and it said that my pin wasn't available and to setup it again. and after I clicked setup my pin it said Group Policy service(gpsvc) failed the sign in, please consult system adiminstrator.

I asked the discord community for help and they said to read again their documentation. How is that going to help? My PC is bricked and I need to read documentation?

And the problem was they disabling Windows Hello and not specifying it in the documentation. and the gpsvc issue was even dumber. why would you disable their policy service. without it enabled Microsoft thinks that I violated thei TOS. attest document yourself before disabling, again not specifying that gpsvc was disabled in the documentation.

and about the performance part is even more of an lie. they said that the processes will go from 150 to 63. guess what happend, it was from 145 to 140. but not only the CPU was not being optimised, also the ram usage. they said on their website that my ram will go from 4.4 gb on idle to 2.2. but it actually increased, it got from 4.3 to 4.6.

overall don't install it. it won't help with fps an performance in general. only if you want an destroyed windows.

Hi Andrei,

We appreciate your feedback, but the claims you've made are incorrect. AtlasOS does not disable the Group Policy Service (GPSVC), and Windows Hello is not disabled either. If you're experiencing issues with your PIN or login, it's likely due to an incorrect installation or modifications from an unofficial source rather than AtlasOS itself.

Regarding performance, our listed improvements are based on benchmarked results. If you didn’t see the expected changes, it’s highly likely that you are not running an official installation of AtlasOS or that other system factors, such as background applications, are affecting your performance.

Our Discord community and documentation exist to help users troubleshoot issues effectively. Reading the documentation is the single driving factor of our open-source and technically dependant project, without reading it will end up in a pre-mature installation of AtlasOS.
