My online experience was difficult to navigate simply to make a claim. A phone call to Australian Unity was responded to by a local compassionate and empathetic operator who solved my initial issue, and she also gave time to discuss and answer some additional questions in a knowledgable and professional manner.

Have been trying to get a transfer certificate off this company for nearly 2 months. I got the first one straight away with my dob wrong. They had Americanised it so the month and day were around the wrong way. The new health insurance wont exceptthis to wave my waiting period. Since then I have rang about 4 times with them telling me I will receive it in an email by the end of the day. Surprise surprise, still have received it. They are an absolute joke. I been trying to get this done since the start of January and nearly 4 months on still have got a document with the correct dob. How hard can it be. I'd hate yo be trying take a claim with them. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. 👎

Australian unity take membership's funds under false pretence ***WARNING TO TYPE 1 DIABETICS **. This fund will not reimburse Omnipod 5 pump system and will not recognise the device - only reimburse traditional pumps. I have wasted 12 months membership waiting period and they will not pay for the monthly pod charge. Absolutely disgusting they take your 12 months of membership funds and then won’t pay out.

I had Tracy help me with IT issues as I had been locked out of the online service and had moved states. It took a while to sort but I was so impressed with the patience and professionalism, that Tracy demonstrated in walking me through the IT maze. I am back on line and my Australian Unity card is in my wallet.

There is not much to say, just that the person who I spoke to was helpful and precise

I couldn’t log in online so I rang customer service and didn’t have to wait to get through which was delightful!
The lady who helped me went beyond what I had asked for and completed other things she could see had not been fully completed. I was impressed with her thoroughness and the kind manner she displayed. She apologised when she had to put me on hold for a couple of minutes and we achieved a lot in our 20 minute conversation.
Very happy with the service I received.

I like everything about this business. Great product offering at a good price
Claims are easy to submit with quick benefits payments. Getting through on the phone is easy with knowledgeable staff. My only criticism is they don’t empty their emails inbox often enough

We had been with Australian Unity for several years.. we had no problems during our time with them .. customer service was fantastic
And the service provided was fantastic ..
We decided to move providers purely for financial reasons.. everytime there is a rise in premiums , we shop around ..

Excellent customer service - phone answered very quickly by a customer service representative who then answered all my queries quickly and clearly. I was also provided with additional information on what AU would pay for with my impending surgery and the easiest ways to claim.

I have experienced ongoing and serious issues with this provider, primarily due to poor organisation and an almost complete lack of communication.
The manager responsible for the Central Coast area does not appear to work effectively or efficiently. On multiple occasions, I had to call several times a day just to find out when a carer would attend to shower my client. In one instance, after repeated calls from my client with no response, a staff member was finally sent at 3:30pm — without any prior communication or apology.
Phone calls are rarely followed up. When calling the office, wait times are typically at least 20 minutes unless you are extremely persistent. Even then, issues are often not resolved.
Due to these ongoing failures, we decided to change providers. I requested a referral code and received no call or follow-up within 48 hours. After calling again four days later, I was told the manager “was not taking calls.” On a subsequent call, I discovered that the manager had not organised the discharge at all. Four days later, I spoke with someone named Tracey, who confirmed that the discharge had still not been completed.
This experience has been an absolute nightmare and has caused unnecessary stress and disruption to care.
I strongly recommend others do themselves a favour and choose a professional, reliable provider instead.
Today after speaking to Tracey from A/unity ( not sure of her location) she followed up on my request. Said she’d ring me back ~ A few hours later Tracey rang & provided me with the referral code.
Thank you Tracey!!!
I also like to confirm~ the carers who visited my client were professional friendly & courteous
I can not say that about the management team though

This is a followup to my review of the 29th January, 2026.
(By the way, you really should allow a NO STAR response)
I was flabbergasted at Australian Unity's response to my review, suggesting that I get in touch with them to sort out my issues with them.
How many times have I requested that someone in authority at A/Unity to please contact me.
I even have an email sent by my then Care Manager to her superiors with a request for them to please contact Mr John Duncan. The response was a very loud silence, nothing, zero, zip.
Whoever the person is at A/Unity, writing the responses to these reviews appears to have no idea what is occurring within their organisation.
Just as an aside, my letter of Termination of Service to A/Unity was written and sent by me on Friday, January 30th, 2026.
This procedure is supposed to take 14 days, meaning the Termination would take effect on February 13th, 2026.
By Friday the 20th February, 2026, 21 days after the Termination was submitted, nothing had happened.
I had my new provider on the phone apologising to me for being unable to maintain continuity of my services.
I said is this a problem of A/Unity failing to carry out their responsibilities. The answer was a resounding YES!!
They even said that they were inundated with new clients fleeing A/Unity and that every one of these clients had suffered the same delays.
I immediately rang MY AGED CARE and told them my problem. They said that they would fix it. They took my details and put me on hold for several minutes, when they came back on the line they provided me with the release code and apologised that A/Unity had inconvenienced me. I am now finally rid of them. WHOOPEE!!
My consultant was kind, polite and extremely helpfull. I would recommed Australian Unity to friends and family.

I applied for my wife’s Overseas Health Insurance, the staff member on the phone did not notify us who recommended the policy that there is a 2 month waiting period on claiming benefits, I have made multiple calls within those 2 month time period and none of the staff informed me of the waiting period. While I waited for my claims to be processed, they notified me 4 months after that you cannot claim anytime within a 2 month time period. So any medical visits were basically out of pocket while I was paying for the cover them for 4 months without any reason.
I do not recommend buying for them, look for other overseas policies instead.
