Auto Express the EV only magazine!

I used to subscribe to the Auto Express magazine but stopped when I realised it was becoming an electric vehicle only magazine despite the fact most people still by petrol and diesel vehicles. EV sales are only being driven by company car users, most private individuals don't want them and this is now reflected by the actions of many motor manufacturers who are extending production of combustion engine cars and introducing new combustion engine models and even scrapping plans for some EV production. Auto Express should reflect what buyers want and not be apologists for the forced EV bandwagon.

Refund policy

Having signed up for 6 weeks trial with auto express, I decided not to carry on with subscription but they'd taken next payment. I contacted them to confirm cancellation and get a refund, after 7 phone calls I have now been told it will take approximately 7 weeks to get my money back.
Would I use them again? Quite obviously no is the answer because they fob you off with one excuse after another........still waiting for my money to be returned (10th November)19th November and another 9 days and still no refund....i have been lied to in all conversations and contact with them.
Just to clear things up.
I finally got my refund on 8th December

First time use as a regular receiver of…

First time use as a regular receiver of Auto Express and found the experience satisfactory, except there is requirement to identify all problem areas except for the area “ internal area of the car”. Had to resort to sending a photo , but would have liked an area to describe an internal area of concern. Otherwise all good.

The process of selling my car was…

The process of selling my car was relatively straight forward and painless. The only criticism if I have one and the reason it is 4 stars and not 5 is that the initial valuation given did not reflect the final bid price. That said the final bid price was more realistic and was only £250 less than I expected to achieve (though £1500 less than the initial price quoted which I thought was wildly optimistic!) The lisiting of the car was easy, it sold on the first day and the dealer was in quick contact. No arguing on day of collection as my photo’s truly reflected the car. The money was in my bank before the car left my drive! All very straight forward. Interesting the final bid was considerably more than another car buying site! Thank you

Very happy...Sold through AutoExpress but realised…

Sold through AutoExpress but realised it was powered by Carwow.
Process was a bit lengthy but guides you well and is straightforward. I tried to clean the car up really well and was very honest about its condition. (full service history)
I read lots of reviews so had some concerns however decided to give it a go and was genuinely impressed. Everything went smoothly and happened as described, from listing the car to the friendly Driiveme inspection and collection of the car.
The highest bid was a bit higher than my reserve price and the money was in my account minutes after Driiveme driver left. My car was relatively old but still sold for £1,000 more than Webuyanycar.com offered.
Really pleased.

Auto Express has a good set up

Auto Express has a good set up. It is easy to follow the step by step instructions provided. Communication is key and that was first class. It’s a far cry from the days when a person visited your house to take one photo and then you (might) get a visit from “private buyers” - who might not really be serious and end up wasting your time! Auto Express are geared towards selling to the motor trade. You might get less for your car because of this but it’s still a lot better than trading in your vehicle through a dealership. If you’re trying to get a PCP deal ended early, and avoid the big final payment, this might be a route to consider. Remember, always be honest about the condition of your vehicle. A Great Service and Good Price Offered

The initial valuation was better than the other sites and listing was relatively easy.
I was able to set my reserve for the auction on the understanding that, if it was reached the car would sell automatically.
At the auction I was informed immediately after it had finished that the highest bid was lower than my estimate but I had the choice of accepting it or not and I believe that the Auto Express rep would possibly haggle a bit with the bidder. As it was I accepted the bid as it was above my absolute minimum figure.
I was required to upload some documentation and id. There was a procedure for security of the system sending me an email link but this failed to appear. I was however able to find a phone number and speak with a human (hooray) who helped me with the link.
I then had to choose a suitable collection day and half-day slot that was suitable to me.
I subsequently had contact from the bidding dealer to confirm procedures.
The evening before collection I had a text from the driver who was collecting the car but he could not attend until the following afternoon (I had chosen am). Luckily this was still OK for me. I was expecting a small transporter but he was going to drive it from southern England up to Cumbria.
The driver arrived when promised and he was friendly and efficient. He inspected the car and took photos of it together with my id. We went for a brief test run and he then contacted the dealer to verify that all was well and the money was transferred into my account within minutes.
The dealer also transferred ownership of the car his end to show it as 'in trade'.
This is the first time that I have used this sort of service to sell a car and I received a higher price and it was quite a painless experience so I would recommend Auto Express/Carwow.
