Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 54 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the online manuals to be a complete waste of money, often describing them as a rip-off due to the lack of meaningful and specific data for their vehicles. People expressed disappointment with the product's quality, noting that the content was generic and lacked the detailed repair procedures and specific information expected from a workshop manual. Reviewers also felt that the online platform did not provide the value for money they anticipated, with some suggesting that free online resources offered more accurate information. Some people also felt that the website itself presented issues, such as difficulty logging in or finding useful information, further contributing to their dissatisfaction. Many long-time users of the brand's traditional printed manuals were particularly dismayed by the decline in quality and specificity in the digital versions, which they found to be a poor substitute for the excellent physical books.

Shame on you Haynes !!

If John Harold Haynes saw the garbage I just wasted £28 on he'd be spinning in his Grave.
A Haynes manual used to be a very useful resource for owners and mechanics,
but what I just foolishly bought is an insult and a disgrace to his legacy.

A Haynes manual used to be written based on first hand experience by professionals,
what they offer in the online garbage is copy/paste generalisations with few or no actual pictures of the vehicle or its components its based on!

Ok I'm a trusting fool, I didn't read the small print which says once I access it ( I had to, to evaluate it right?) i am ineligible to claim a refund.

Oh very clever, but it cuts two ways, I'm logging all the ways it fails as I go and will go online and warn others and go into minute detail to describe the many ways its a worthless imitation of what a Haynes manual used to be.

I always bought a Haynes repair manual…

I always bought a Haynes repair manual for any car I had, and with great satisfaction.
Now I couldn't get one for my new 5year old car, and out of demand I signed up for the Autofix.
Man did I get disappointed.
My current problem is not covered, well, the parts in trouble are not described.
There are very few photos, and I watched one of the few videos, about changing pollen filter. I have a Peugeot, and it was shown on a Mercedes.
In short, useless

Renault Master MkII

I needed a Renault Master MkII workshop manual to service and maintain our newly acquired campervan. They were the first advertised choice and really the only one. I saw that they stopped providing paper manuals and moved on to autofix - online alternative. Would have preferred a physical book to have while traveling but had no choice but to buy the autofix one.
WHAT A MISTAKE
Immediately they promise DIY videos with Engine specifications, torque specs, fault finding and much more.
14 day return UNLESS you open the manual. I have loads of work to do (CV boots, steering rack, injectors, glow plugs and more)
Looking for injector torque specs? not found, injector crush washer size - not found, location? - here is a DIY injector video from a MERCEDES
Need to do timing belt? good luck figure out yourself.
Half the information they provide is general info that may or may not apply to your vehicle (info on drum brakes, Van comes ONLY with discs) so very quickly you start doubting the info they they provide - Is it for the van or is it just a general cars.
Asking for refund no use at all, feel like I've been scammed. Given random DIY videos and specifications that I just don't trust .

I want a refund

I want a refund. Totally useless and very frustrating. I purchased this garbage to help me with information I would need to service and repair my Discovery Sport? My first job being Brake pads?
I’m still looking through this ‘poor excuse for a service manual’ to show me how to put the electronic parking brake in service mode. Also the video on brake pad replacement was generic… I wasted £28. I never write reviews but this is a rip off.

I have trusted hardback Haynes manuals…

I have trusted hardback Haynes manuals for years with great results, but the new Autofix is terrible. They aren't kidding when they say check the 'Preview'. That really is all you get!
Utter waste of £26. Nissan Micra K14: please don't waste your money - you're better off using a random Hardback you have laying around for how specific the contents will be.

Almost entirely useless

Just bought a Jaguar XF manual for £26 only to find that it's missing basic information such as how to remove interior trim. Also, much of the content seems to be generic - for example, the section on removing liftgate struts basically just instructs the user to remove the clips from each end and pop the struts off. This can't be accurate as the vehicle has electrically actuated struts to open/close the liftgate.

Total waste of money

Haynes Autofix is a total waste of money. Doesn't document or show anything specific to the vehicle. Gives a load of generic info but nothing specific to the vehicle. Videos and pictures are of completely different vehicles

Absolute Garbage

Absolute Garbage. bought this online manual to help fault finding a brake light problem on my 2007 Honda CRV. It was of no help whatsoever. I typed in Brake lights into the search bar and nothing came up about brake lights, I eventually found a wiring diagram (part of the external lights wiring diagram) that was very hard to follow. The wiring diagram that was suppose to be specific to my model beared little resemblance to the actual wiring on the car. It was so wrong with bits missing, wires going to the wrong place and incorrectly labelled coloured wires.
I emailed Haynes stating the manual was not fit for purpose and should be withdrawn from their website. I eventually managed to get a refund.

Haynes Autofix - don’t bother

Signed up for Ducato manual ages ago. Tried to use it in anger this week. What an absolute waste of time. Not even the basic torque settings. It’s not a manual but a load of mixed up and mostly irrelevant data. Almost like it’s been compiled by a digital company that knows zero about repairing vehicles. Total Total Rip OFF. I’d also say that having your laptop under the van whilst working doesn’t really work either.

Terrible Value

Very little information and way, way overpriced. Do yourself a favour and buy the hard copy.
There are far too many missing, yet pretty important topics.
Glad I read these reviews before making another purchase.

Sorry, but a rip off! Prove me otherwise...

Well, let me start by saying: STOP! Don't make the purchase. Now then, I like others, I am sure expected a lighter version of AllData but what you receive is next to bloody useless, not even a complete list of Torque settings to list just one of many things not present, less specific car data to you than if you used YouTube and searched for Telly Tubbies, So if they don't have a traditional manual for your make & model steer well clear. Yes we can use Youtube for lots of guides these days, I know the world has changed but look at it this way, Pro mechanics don't, they use Pro tools and workshop hour programs, so Haynes wording is clever around AutoData and now I know why, sorry keen "DIYers" Please just stop selling it or charge £5 for the effort!!!

Avoid it if you actually want to learn or find something

I was desperate and thought buying the haynes manual would be the guaranteed source to find where the crankshaft sensor is on my French pos c4 cactus. The manual cant even show me a picture of the engine But the online manual costing £29 tells you things like how to change a battery. No engine diagrams or breakdowns. It's riding on previous decades of reputation which was well earned and just cashed in and provide less information than halfords. The delete account option being with the subscription and other immediate tabs says it all. I also doubt the good reviews for their credibility because Heynes clearly don't do new cars and apparently people love the in depth manuals for their new cars... nope.

Total waste of money

I feel that I have been conned out of £27.00. I had assumed that the digital information would be similar to the information contained in the books. How wrong can you be. The information is very scant , very few illustrations and very basic information.Far more help and information can be gained from the internet. I would advise anyone to steer clear of this set-up .Please do not waste your money

Old Haynes manuals useful, Autofix useless

The old Haynes manuals were useful, I always bought one when I had another car, But Autofix is useless, an expensive rippoff!
I bought one for my Lexus CT and could find little usefull. The diagrams and pictures are generic, not specific the the model at all! Gone are the step by step instructions with photographs, without those, it's useless! You will find some basic infomation about your car but not even as much as you find in a makers car manual.
Wish I'd checked here before paying my £26 quid.
More fool me!
