I have a number of continual issue with this company and these are that they don’t issue a receipt when you book online. They come out with some garbage that you can use a screenshot of the itine... See more

Avanti Staff Viewed My Bank Balance Then Closed My Case
Avanti West Coast closed my case after a serious privacy breach and aggressive behaviour from one of their staff. He rudely tapped a young guy beside me three times to wake him for his ticket, then turned to me and asked “how much do you have?” while looking directly at my bank balance on my phone. I had a valid return ticket to Euston, yet he claimed it was “LNR not Avanti” and pressured me into buying another one. Intrusive, intimidating, and completely unacceptable. Avanti ignored everything and shut my case. I won’t travel with them again.
By far the worst experience of my life
By far the worst experience of my life, grossly overcharged for what they offer, I will be flying from Glasgow to London next time, quicker and cheaper, such patronizing customer service, avoid like the plaque and save yourself time and money.

Usually drive but was on a course this week, wish I'd have drove. Delayed every day Monday to Friday by a minimum of an hour... never again.
Shocking
Shocking. Held off writing this as put in a claim for compensation and today been told getting £54 back from £240 tickets. Our scheduled train was cancelled. The next one was completely full, not enough room to get on, loads of people couldnt get on it. Next train, cancelled. There was another train a few minutes after that was the stopping service to London and took 3.5 hours instead of 2 so we got on that. obviously missed our connecting train at other end. eventually got to where we wanted to go 3 hours later then schedule. On way back, train from Euston. no air con on the non booked seats carraiges.. so hot they had to move vunerable people out as some were fainting . hats off to the guard, worked so hard... but a nightmare.. so to get just £54 back, approx 20% as they said we were only delayed an hour is ludicrous.. we could not physically get on the next train and the one after was cancelled.. just ludicrous and I hope they lose their franchise..
Years of them selling disabled seats to…
Years of them selling disabled seats to any customers ensuring theres no disabled seats, ensuring disabled people are regularly forced to siton the floor. Combining that with dire experiences with passenger assist where they havent even turned up previously and the one who replaced the absent passenger assist from another team( thanks for doing that) was very angry in a way suggested that wasnt the first time someone got stranded!!!
One hour delay.
1 star because I can't give them 0.
1 star because I can't give them 0.
Always delayed or terminated.
If the journey were ever tolerable I wouldn't care they can't be on time
I'd be willing to overlook that these trains never show up on time when they show up all if not that for the fact when the planets do align and one arrives it is always overcrowded and I have yet to experience a working air conditioner.
Scammers
Scammers - they wouldn’t let me on their train dispute having a valid ticket. Their staff enjoy feeling in power and letting people go without a journey home. They also have a lot of delays and cancellations I can not warn you away from this company more! Use literally any other mode of transportation even walking if needs be.
Do not use this company even if you…
Do not use this company even if you need to walk from London to Manchester do it, they are so unreliable my daughter is commuting from Manchester to London every Friday and going back on Sundays , either the service is delayed for over an hour or cancelled without exception, I got tired of getting filled a refund applications. Again guys worst of the worst even Ryanair is a luxury this one Avanti absolute joke
Delay Repay is as slow as Avanti trains
Still waiting for Delay Repay from mid March.
'Thank you for your patience'.... which has now run out, so looks like it will have to be the Ombudsman as next stop
Absolutely diabolical
Absolutely diabolical. Every train over a 2 day period has been delayed, meaning missing connections. What should have been a 3.5 hour trip from Milton Keynes to Lancaster will now have taken 6 hours! How is that possible to have such poorly ran services when they charge extortionate fees.
I booked a train to Manchester…
I booked a train to Manchester Piccadilly and by mistake had the wrong week booked. A lady called Aniva at the barier was so unhelpful and said I needed to go to the ticket office (knowing full well the ticket office wouldn’t be open at 5:50 in the morning) after going to the TO being totally ignored by staff because it wasn’t actually open, I went back and spoke to the two gents that we working with the lady and explained I’d miss the meeting I had and I’m not even in the country when the tickets were actually booked for. They got the ticket officer from the train and she allowed me to pay the difference. I was so grateful for their help after the previous lady went out of her way to be unhelpful and to be honest, point blank rude.
Thank you should be passed on to the two gents, otherwise I’d be leaving 1 star!
Avoid Avanti at all costs
Paid for a first class ticket to Edinburgh & back as a Anniversary & birthday treat for my wife - wish I hadn't bothered as such a dreadful experience - seats & toilet were filthy, service extremely poor - journey back there was no food at all, had to pester & pester, finally got a bag of crisps & biscuit - they are a dishonest company & shouldn't be allowed to get away with it - put a complaint in but total waste of time, never again. Only given 1 star because you have to give something, not worth 1 star
Superb Train Managers
I had a lovely gent who was managing the train from crewe to Edinburgh for the first leg of the journey around 7:15pm - he very kindly offered my dog water and cups without any prompting snd was exceptionally polite and friendly. He was bald and lightish hair but didn’t catch his name. Then the second manager Lynne delivered the most professional and warm announcement on the tannoy I have ever heard - she sounded distinctly more enthusiastic, controlled and warm than any announcer I have ever heard on any train - and I’ve been on many. A truly awesome pair !
Another family weekend ruined by this company
I am going to put this here as a place holder until I can take this up with the ombudsman!
On the 9th July my family traveled from Lancaster to London Euston. The train was supposed to leave at 12:39, it eventually left at 13:22. It was supposed to arrive at 15:09 it arrived at 16:35! I had paid for Premium Standard for my family. When we got to our booked seats others were sat there. We were told that the booking was cancelled as the earlier train was cancelled. To add insult to injury there was no aircon for the entire journey. My daughter could not charge her iPhone because of the heat, the iPhones safety had mode had kicked in at 35 degrees to prevent it from over heating. I have a heart condition, my pulse was raised to 125bpm, with chest pains for the majority of the journey. This is why we booked premium Standard thinking we would get a more relaxing journey down.
We were due to return on the 12th July, I arrived at Euston early to see if we could get an earlier train as I wanted to get home as I was not feeling my best. The earlier train 07:42 wasn’t full, it was practically empty. When I asked if we could jump on the earlier one the guy checking people on abruptly said no.
We waited for our train which was the 08:39, low and behold it was delayed getting in again.
I placed 2 delay refunds in for both journeys:
ACW-3394-480-054 (for £141.65)
ACE-3496-754-355 (for £52.46)
They have only agreed to refund the lesser amount.
This is not the first time Avanti West Coast have ruined a family weekend for us.
As I said I have to wait for 30 days to lodge a complaint with the ombudsman… I am counting the days!
Tonight has been a nightmare as a…

genuinely the worst train ever every 4 hour train ride becomes a 6 and a half hour with multiple delays, the toilets dont flush, the seats are incredibly painful, for such an expensive train this is ABYSMAL. the wifi doesnt work at all, i dread this train everytime i go on it
Worst train company ever
Worst train company ever! Wrong information on board at Euston...suddenly Glasgow train changed to Preston no announcement you were just supposed to know.. what they do is if not busy enough they turn back the train at Preston. Hideous panic at Euston...I'm 73 and can't get to platform in 3 mins with suitcases. Inhuman in their treatment of passengers Broken loo on train. Dreadful experience .never again !
Travelled on the Avanti West Coast…
Travelled on the Avanti West Coast service from Glasgow to London. Over an hour late on each leg of the journey. Enjoyed a leaky carriage, lack of hot drinks and failure to allocate reserved seats. Avoid
