Poor delivery experience

Averys somehow managed to sell me wine that was out of stock. As their website often indicates how many bottles they have remaining, I'm not sure how this is possible.

Then I had a horrendous delivery. I used my annual membership to select a specific day for delivery when I knew I would be in to receive it. After year's of excellent service, that's now proving to be a waste of money.
Picked Tuesday. 1st box arrived Wednesday, the 2nd box on Thursday when I had to work in the office.
Typical Yodel delivery where they nearly left £200 of wine outside my flat building front door where it could have easily been stolen.
Not much point paying £30 for membership for special delivery when Yodel just deliver when they want.
I guess now they are part of laithwaites they've lost that independent customer service.

After being a customer for a couple of decades it's enough to make you rethink where to buy your wine from.

I am really sorry for the issues with your recent order and that the original wines were out of stock. I can see we did get in touch with you about this and this was changed. I'm sorry there were the delays with your delivery, especially when you had chosen a named day. Your wines shouldn't have been left unsafe by the carriers. I can see your delivery instructions were defaulted to "Other - please specify" so I've now amended these to please leave out of sight in a safe place. We have also raised a formal complaint with the carriers so it will be fed back to ensure this doesn't happen again. As a further apology from us, please check your emails as we have sent you something which we hope you can use in the future. Thanks, Vicki

Excellent Service

I always have a great experience shopping at Averys. The range of wines on offer on their website is expansive and they have a great selection of my preferred type of wine. I’ve had really good advice on choices from James who guides me to the less well known but always excellent wines. Delivery is swift and often early and after 2 years plus of shopping there, only a single delivery problem which was quickly rectified by James. Excellent service from a distinguished supplier of great wines.

I enjoy dealing with Neal and I have enjoyed Cabalie for 5 or 6 years. However the 2025 was a big disappointment. I hope it was just that bottle. I will let you know in due course
