THE STORY OF AZURE STANDARD really begins in 1971 when my family made radical changes in the operation of our 2,000-acre dry-land wheat and cattle ranch. In the 1950’s almost all the farmers in America began using chemical fertilizers because the lure of higher yields was just too great to pass up. Not long afterward, the soil deteriorated to the point where the weeds and insects began to attack the crops, so pesticides and herbicides soon followed. Our family was caught in the cycle like most farmers, until 1971 when we took our farm out of the chemical cycle “cold turkey,” so to speak. In the first year, the chemical-dependent land only produced a small percentage of what it had formerly produced. At this point most farmers would have gone back to chemical use for economic survival. But, sticking to our convictions, we fought ignorance and lack of information in order to keep on without chemical use. As the years went on, the soil slowly regained its natural fertility. As a result of farming in this manner, both commercially, and on smaller scale in large gardens and orchards for our own use, our family became healthier. We began selling this healthier food to others who also wanted to reap the benefits of better nutrition. Our newfound customers soon began asking for different natural and organic products which we didn’t grow here on our farm, but we scrambled to find those products for them. Thus, in 1987, Azure Standard was born. Here, we understand that naturally grown foods are instrumental in producing a long and satisfying life. We’d like to see more farmers and home gardeners turn to natural organic growing practices, so we do what we can to not only support the organic farmer, but also provide as many organic products as possible. We chose to call our business Azure Standard, to signify by the name what we are attempting to do. Azure is a shade of blue which has been associated with law, justice, and honesty. In raising an azure standard, we want to place an honest standard in the marketing of food. We feel that the correct way to effect a positive change is not to attack the way it is being done, but to begin to do it right. We are dedicated to the “organic principle” of cooperating with nature and we pray others will join us so that we may once again see prosperity in our land. David Stelzer Azure Founder and CEO

Easy Process from Ordering to Delivery

Information about drops, cutoff times foundering, and sales are readily available and up to date. The process is quite simple: place your order, go to drop site, help unload the truck, get your items, and enjoy good products that are healthy.

Great products

Great products, baking soda and powder, Sappho Hill soap, coriander and cardamom. Great prices. Awesome community experiences sorting products as a team from the pallets off the truck with about 30 other people. Well organized by Cora so there was no guessing what to do. It was a really great, community experience centered around good products! Really fun to be part of.

Concierge Delivery Service

For someone looking for concierge service it was great! The hard red winter wheat arrived to my front door with a dedicated truck and driver. To be honest, I live in a dense and challenged downtown area, and my house is on an alley - the only vehicular access way. I felt like I was queen for a day or living in an old fashioned movie. Truly superior service.

Customer disservice

I love your products and, until now, your customer service. I’ve had to call your customer service and I found that the agent didn’t have a good enough understanding of the English language and therefore the interaction was less than acceptable. Furthermore, the person would not escalate the issue to a supervisor or manager and told me that the issue would be resolved “internally” (although she could not explain what that meant. My husband also tried calling to attempt once again and he got the same issue: language barrier and a general disposition I would expect from Cisco or Walmart. Extremely sad to see Azure choosing a path not consistent with a caring, family oriented and Christian western values I grew accustomed to expect.

It’s just so easy to use

It’s just so easy to use! Was very helpful when I had a question. I was extremely happy with the products I purchased. The drop coordinator was very friendly & helpful. The drop was very organized. I already have my next order ready. I am very thankful I learned of your company & am able to purchase healthy organic products.

The person I spoke with on the phone

The person I spoke with on the phone, could not explain why dark rye flour is white. I was just curious because I never had experience with the dark rye flower before, but I have had the dark rye bread and it’s very dark. I was disappointed that I did not get satisfactory answerand still wondering if this is real dark rye but I like your company otherwise and will continue ordering

Pick-up location very strange…

I am brand new to Azure Standard and I have only ordered one thing from them. I was very pleased with what I bought, but the pick-up area was very strange. It was on a back road which was very hard to find, and it was right in the middle of the road. There was no parking and people were blocking the road and driveways. We were just wondering why the pick up spot has to be in such a strange and awkward location.

The drop coordinator is what made my…

The drop coordinator is what made my experience a five star. She was wonderful and very very attentive to my questions and worry about not being able to be present at the site when the truck arrived. The products ordered were wonderful! Truly a very positive experience.

Bulk legumes at a good price!…

I was buying legumes from the health food store. But then I discovered Azure where I can get bulk legumes that I use a lot of at a very reasonable price. Actually saving myself significant money in doing this. And there is a drop off close by my house so it all worked out good.
