While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more
To protect platform integrity, every review on our platform—verified or not—is screened by our 24/7 automated software. This technology is designed to identify and remove content that breaches our guidelines, including reviews that are not based on a genuine experience. The Baba Tree Basket Company makes design-led handwoven baskets, lampshades and wall pieces in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region of northern Ghana. The company was founded in 2002 and is co-owned by Gregory MacCarthy and Andrew Quainoo. Every piece is woven by hand at our compound by a named maker, working with around 200 weavers. The baskets are made from elephant grass, cut, split, dyed and woven on site. No two are ever the same, because no two are woven by the same hands in the same way. Each one is an original object, designed to be used and kept rather than replaced. We treat weaving as a design discipline, and we set the benchmarks others are measured against. The result is woven work held to an exacting standard: sculptural, functional and built to last. We also make bespoke pieces to order, working with interior designers and architects on custom dimensions and colourways. Our work sits in homes, galleries and design-led interiors around the world. The Baba Tree sells worldwide, both direct through babatree.com and through a number of selected retailers. We ship internationally from Ghana and stand behind every order, replacing or making good anything that arrives late, lost or damaged. Original. Exacting. Built to be kept.
