I hired Kevin Long of Babysteps Publishing to build a complete book funnel and integrate my existing materials, based on a proposal that promised a full system and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

This project has now stretched over two years without resolution.

When I sent Kevin my materials to start the project, Kevin acknowledged in writing that he felt overwhelmed working with such high quality materials —

To begin with, he suggested I start with a paid product — not a free product like his system and others suggested.

What he provided was low quality and required me to hire outside professionals to fix or rebuild what was supposed to be included, at my own expense. It is important to note that while a product was delivered, it was not up to professional standards.

After bringing in my own designer to redo the funnel sales page, I fully expected Kevin and his team to step back in and lead the execution of the system they had originally proposed.

Instead, I was told they would “guide” my person — a significant and unexpected shift away from the hands-on implementation and ownership that had been represented at the outset.

He maintains that he worked on getting my book ready for publication. What he missed is that when I initially handed over my materials, I provided fully completed, publishable interior files for both paperback and Kindle editions.

The only requested update at that stage was to replace a single page with a QR code and my letter to the reader.

This has not been a matter of minor delays — it has been a prolonged, unresolved project that required additional time, money, and energy on my end to compensate for what was not delivered.

If you are considering working with this company, I strongly advise you to proceed with extreme caution: don't pay upfront, get clearly defined deliverables, firm timelines, and accountability measures in writing — and do not rely on verbal assurances or guarantees alone.

I deeply regret working with Kevin on my book project. What should have been an exciting and professional experience turned into a frustrating, time-consuming, and incredibly disappointing process.

From the beginning, communication was poor and disorganised. I repeatedly had to ask for the same corrections, because the changes I requested were often ignored or only half-implemented. This resulted in countless hours lost going back and forth — something no client should have to deal with, especially after paying a premium price.

Kevin uses a standard, templated format for all books, which became obvious very quickly. His formatting skills are not professional — not only did the layout lack care and finesse, but he also split paragraphs in unnatural and awkward places, which disrupted the flow of the text and made the book look amateur. Despite claiming to work with a professional cover designer, this also turned out not to be true. As for proofreading, he simply ran the document through Grammarly — no real editorial care was given.

Even more concerning was that Kevin uploaded the wrong book cover to Amazon — one we had clearly rejected. He then published the book without our approval, despite having told us it would go live on a specific date. The book went live early, with a description and pricing we had never agreed on or even seen. When I questioned these issues, I was met with vague explanations and excuses that simply don’t match how Amazon KDP actually works. It felt like a way to avoid responsibility for serious mistakes.

The price of £7.32 was never discussed with us. Since Amazon doesn't set prices — the publisher does — it’s hard not to feel like this was done deliberately, without any regard for our wishes or intentions for the book.

This entire experience felt sloppy, careless, and unprofessional. We’ve now archived everything and are starting fresh with someone who actually works with care, competence, and integrity.

If you're looking for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and truly professional to support your publishing journey — I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

Book cover has too much "find print" can't even begin to read it when Amazon is showing thumbprint versions of book. The guy also promised to show some correct ways to promote my book after publishing ( the only reason why I paid him such a huge amount ) but didn't get any correct ways to promote. He also promised to make my book "best seller ". He claimed we got best sellers title ( in Netherlands Amazon ) even with out selling a single copy. The book is now ranked #377,751 in Kindle Store. He even rejected my requests to refund 50% of what I paid as it was complete failure. I not only lost money but also it is end of my Kindle story.
