Happy to take your money but if you need help they dont want to know you !

I booked a package with The Barmy Army for this ashes series tickets, flights, transfers etc, thousands of pounds back in January of 2025.

Unfortunately in October 25 I was diagnosed with cancer and my treatment started in November, weeks before I was due to fly. I contacted the Barmy Army to explain my situation and see if they could help. It was a categorical NO, nothing. No refund, No transfer to next series, NO credit, not even a gesture from them. Their excuse ? It was too late and outside of their T's & C's. Now don't get me wrong I know it was late and I wasn't expecting a full refund but to tell me there is NOTHING they can do, smacks of "we've got your money and there's nothing you can do about it".

I tried being nice about it, appealing to their better nature, alas no such nature exists at the barmy army ! So here I am telling everyone what they're really like if you have a problem.

To make matters worse, they decided not to inform any of the hotels that I had booked, (through them) that I wasn't going, they also didn't tell any of the companies that were booked (through them) for my transfers. So while I was in the UK receiving cancer treatment, I received several calls, obviously in the middle of the night because of the time difference, from various Australians asking "if I had checked out" and "would I be making the transfer bus" etc.

As you can imagine this wasn't ideal. Do the Barmy Army care ? Of course they don't, as I said, they had my money !

So my advice is this, if you spend money with the barmy army don't expect ANY support if you have an issue because they simply don't care !

Disappointed Barmy

I have been a member of the barmy Army for a couple of years now. I joined when I saw that membership would guarantee tickets for the upcoming Ashes series in Australia. I subscribed to a savings plan and I have been a member now for 2 years with my last membership fee being debited in January 2025

When I found out in April that the Ashes ticket wasn't really guaranteed unless a travel+hotel+ticket or a hotel+ticket was purchased for all 5 days of a test I decided to cancel my membership. This was not made clear in the advertising of the saving scheme and was in my opinion very misleading. I decided to cancel the direct debit naturally assuming that the membership fee would ensure membership until January 2026.

I was therefore shocked to see that I couldn't buy tickets on the website today and when I called customer services I was told that as soon as the direct debit was cancelled the membership was cancelled even though there was still 9 months to run on the fee.

I have never heard of such a thing before and can't recall any organisation that would cancel membership even though so many months of unexpired membership remained.

On top of that when I asked for my accumulated savings of £1000 to be returned I was informed there is a £50 admin charge to get my money back. I assume this sum had been on deposit for over a year and interest of around £40 would already have accrued to the Barmy army. Transfer of money electronically is so quick and easy these days that a £50 looks exorbitant.

I am quite shocked by this news. I expected the Barmy Army club to be run for the members and by the members but I would regard such measures described above as sharp practice and misleading.I am very disappointed.

Incredible people

Incredible people! It is because of people like these that cricket fans are able to love the sport as much as we do! Special thanks to Sophie and Fin whose customer service is second to none!
