Pickles x Barney 🩷
The team believed me when I told them about the tear in the bed.
Wasn’t a normal tear, they didn’t fight me. They just accepted that what I had said was the truth and offered me more than an acceptable outcome.
They were awesome, really communicative and their customer service second to none.
They allowed Pickles to lay on a new cover when we went into the store because he wasn’t newly vaccinated yet and he fell asleep straight away!

For a brand that claims to be 'premium,' the quality and service are anything but—definitely not living up to the hype
I purchased a Large dog bed expecting premium quality, but received a product with multiple defects: moisture stain, ripped covers, large yellow stains on all the foam pieces, and a musty odour.
When I contacted customer service, I requested an exchange. Instead, they offered to replace only the covers and dismissed my concerns about the foam—arguably the most important part of the product.
In one of their email they stated “I want to reiterate the memory foam yellowing in your photos is completely normal. It happens to all of our memory foam it is a natural characteristic of memory foam and occurs over time as the material is exposed to UV light and air.”—I understand that. The issue is that a brand-new foam or mattress should never have marks or stains right out of the box. That's not normal. It should be acceptable in appearance and finish, free from defects.
It was shocking to uncover the extent of the damage once I removed all the covers. While I want to believe this was an unfortunate one-off mistake, expecting a customer to tolerate a bed that cost $355 with multiple large stains is beyond unacceptable—and I genuinely don’t think I’m overreacting.
After several emails and 8 days of communication (as I write this review), my refund still hasn't been fully arranged. I'm still waiting... The whole experience has been unnecessarily frustrating, and I felt my concerns were brushed aside. It's clear from the evidence that the product I received does not meet the consumer guarantee of acceptable quality. For a brand that claims to be "premium," the quality and service are anything but—definitely not living up to the hype.
Frankly, their responses came across as both disrespectful and shady. Barney Bed seems like a company that is comfortable selling faulty products at a premium price. All they had to do was offer a simple exchange and it would’ve been a decent experience.

All our items are covers under a 12-month Warranty on manufacturing defects and a 10 Year No Sag Guarantee on the foam. In this case, we responded quickly to your initial inquiries and offered replacement covers and liners as soon as we were made aware of the issue. While we waited on further photos to assess the issue, we remained committed to resolving the matter for you. I understand this was not the resolution you were after. As part of the process to resolve this for you, we’re working with a local animal shelter to arrange a donation of the bed, and finalise your refund.

Despite their numerous 5 stars reviews, I found the bed to be of only average quality, not worth the money. The first one I received was deformed (did not inflate from being compressed in shipping, the replacement part I received was discolored and dirty. The bed is useable, but I have purchased better ones beds at discount stores.

We are very sorry to hear that your initial order had a problem with the foam. I understand this would be disappointing, especially as you would be looking forward to receiving your bed 🥺 I am glad to hear we promptly sent a replacement foam piece. It is normal for the memory foam to turn yellow from oxidisation, this is a normal occurrence in all memory foam products, and you will find your bed with go more yellow where it is most exposed. Also, there will be discoloration on the foam where it was fused and glued. This does not affect the longevity or quality of the foam and is completely natural and normal!

Wonderful product and great company to work with! I ordered the wrong size at first (yes, even though they ask you 100 times before you check out if you've triple checked your measurements)! and I needed to return the smaller beds. They made this so easy, which is unusual for a small business. Communication with Leah from support could not have been better both helping me make the return and post-recieving my items back. Will continue to do business with them.

Don’t trust shipping times on website
Ordered 1 week ago, received UPS shipping link next day, but they’re still sat in the warehouse and not in UPS’s hands. Have emailed and called with no response. It states very clearly on the website their shipping times - which FWIW, do not trust!
I still remain excited for the bed arriving :)

Sometimes it will say "Label Created" for a few days until UPS scans the box. I can see your Barney Bed was delivered the day after you wrote this review, so all up it was one week from ordering until delivery. I understand this is a bit longer, which is unusual for UPS, but sometimes it can take a few days more, which is outside our control. I can also see that we tried to call you back and emailed you 🥺 We hope your dog is loving the Barney Bed! 💕
Absolutely not worth the price and the return policy is a nightmare
Unfortunately, we were sent a defective bed that made a terrible "crinkling" sound. It was so loud that our dog wouldn't even step foot on the bed. From day one, we knew we made a bad purchase. Barney sent a replacement liner which still made an awful sound when any weight was placed on it. Our dog would rather sleep next to the bed on the floor than choose to sleep on it, and we've had it for 4 months. Now, we're stuck with a $400+ dog bed that our dog won't even sleep on, from a company that doesn't accept returns. Customer service recommended we "retrain" our dog to enjoy the bed. I highly recommend that everyone look for a bed from a company that accept returns.
Update: as expected, Barney sent a condescending reply placing the blame on the customer. They take zero ownership over the fact that their beds are poorly made and are riddled with defects. Barney remains one of the worst companies I’ve ever done business with; just read their other replies. Zero accountability.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with Barney Bed. We understand the frustration caused by the initial crinkling sound in the bed caused by the liner. We genuinely aimed to resolve the crinkling sound by upgrading the liner to a waterproof lining kit with a terry towel lining and a waterproof layer so that there was no risk of crinkling.
It is our understanding that the bed was no longer making a sound after this replacement.
We did not suggest you retrain your dog to enjoy the Barney Bed. We very rarely have dogs that do not immediately LOVE the Barney Bed, but in the rare case that they don't, we recommend that you wash the cover so it smells like the rest of your home. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and if the bed smells familiar, it will be an easier transition to the Barney Bed.
Our other suggestions included removing any old beds to not confuse your dog and adding a blanket to the Barney Bed. This last suggestion is particularly helpful if your dog is used to fluffy beds. These beds are not supportive for your dog long term, which is why we wanted to help you make the transition easier.
It is unfortunate you have made the decision that your dog does not like the bed, without trying the many helpful recommendations our team has offered you.
In an effort to remain transparent, our return policy is outlined clearly on our website and in our Size Check email after customers place their purchase.
We hope you consider following our recommendations (i.e. washing the cover and removing any old beds) to get your dog used to the new bed and start enjoying some comfy snoozes. 💤

Bed looked nothing like the promotional material. There is not enough foam to fill the cover, looks terrible. Construction is otherwise average at best. For the price it is absolutely unacceptable.

The bed takes 4 days from opening the box to fully inflate. It is tightly vacuum sealed. We have this information on our website. Your dog can use it right away.
You have written this review on the same day you opened the box. It’s disappointing you would post this negative review when there is nothing wrong with your bed. I am 110% certain your bed now looks exactly like the promotional material. It just needs a few days to plumpen up. We did email you did you have a chance to read this?
If it didn’t look as advertised you would rightly be asking for compensation, to which you haven’t.
We would really appreciate it if you could take down this negative review, which is damaging to a small business that prides itself on high quality dog products.

We've had our Barney Bed for 3 years now and its still in amazing condition. We got a second cover so we could switch out covers. I have two dogs that use it and they haven't eaten or destroyed it. If dogs could talk they'd tell Barney Bed creators THANK YOU.

Unfortunately my dog did not like this bed
I was really excited to buy my 13-year-old dog a Barney Bed an orthopedic bed that would last his lifetime. Unfortunately, he does not like his bed AT ALL. I'm not sure why. We have even tried to put a blanket with familiar scent in with him but he'd rather sleep on the floor. And he keeps looking for his old bed. So unfortunately for whatever reason this bed did not work for us. It seems well made though but has been a rather expensive lesson.

If your older dog is not used to an orthopaedic bed, there may be an adjustment period, which will be worth it! The Barney Bed is so supportive and will be better for your dog long term, so let's see if we can help you out.
That's great that you tried a blanket! What usually does the trick is actually washing the grey cover so that it smells like the rest of your home.
You can also encourage your dog to go to the bed by leaving some of his most favourite things in it.
If he is sleeping on the floor, this is usually because of sore joints. He just hasn't realised yet that the Barney Bed will offer him relief! Hard floor sleepers are usually the most keen on the Barney Bed!
Give it a little more time, and I'm sure he'll be enjoying his gorgeous forever bed in no time.

Wonderful quality bed for our lovely 15 year old dog. It provides support in all the right places and she always looks comfortable. We’ve had the bed for a few years and it looks like new. Also the extra linen covers are very hardy and fit perfectly. Highly recommend this product.

The first & last bed you will ever buy for your pet
These beds are of a superior quality to any others I have purchased, after owning & fostering over 12 dogs my very first Barney Bed is still in mint condition! I've only had to replace 1 cover since purchasing the bed and an extra cover and only because it had worn a bit thin. The covers have lasted many years of use and washing. The local team provide exceptional customer service and helpful advice. Don't be fooled by inferior cheap copies, you get what you pay for!

We absolutely love our Barney Bed
We absolutely love our Barney Bed! We have dachshunds, and one had a low grade IVDD flare up about 18 months ago. It was important to me to get him a bed that was comfortable but also really supportive of his back, I also didn't want to be buying a dog bed every few months when the filling started to sag. We went with the golden teddy cover and the dogs just love it - so comfy for them! 18 months on and I am still so thrilled with the quality. The bed is still completely in shape, and there is no wear or sagging. The cover is also in perfect condition. My dogs use their Barney Bed for sleeping and as a wrestling ring & it looks as good as new. My mother has bought about 10 new beds of varying other brands in the same period of time for her dogs and they are sagging with collapsed sides, and the covers can't be washed or changed - you get what you pay for! Highly recommend. Thanks Barney Bed team!
