Review for Baxter Clewis Consulting

I’m incredibly grateful for the guidance and expertise that Boyd Clewis provided during my time working with him. His deep knowledge of PCI DSS and other security frameworks has made a huge difference in how I approach challenges in my career. Boyd has a unique ability to simplify difficult concepts and help you see the bigger picture. He challenged me to think critically about security and to approach it from different angles. His mentorship equipped me with the tools to assess risks and frameworks in a way that is both practical and effective.

Baxter Clewis Academy is a scam

I discovered this program through YouTube ads, where Boyd claimed that no prior IT experience or certifications were needed, and that in 90 days, you'd be ready for a six-figure job in cybersecurity. I got in touch with them, and a person named Anthony N. Grim sent me a text to schedule a Zoom meeting. During the meeting, he told me the program cost $20,000, but I’d only pay $1,500 until completing the program. After that, I’d pay the full amount only if I secured a job paying $90K or more; otherwise, I wouldn’t owe anything. This sounded good to me, so I signed some paperwork before starting.

Before we ended the meeting, he asked me to call a number to discuss how I'd be paying the fees. After everything was set up, I received credentials for the PCI DSS course. I paid $360 every month for six months, with a special finance charge on my account. After six months, they cut off my access to the course and asked me to start paying an additional $197 per month on top of the $360.

After the so-called internship, I was told to update my resume. When they saw that I had listed their certification on it, they asked me to remove it. That was one of the biggest red flags for me. I decided to have my bank stop the $360 payments and end any further relationship with them.

A couple of months later, I was shocked when I began receiving daily calls from people demanding that I repay the money they had paid on my behalf. I explained that the money they took from me was gone because I had been foolish enough to trust them, but I couldn’t pay another cent. I told them that if they continued to harass me, I would sue. Despite this, I continued to receive calls from debt collectors and even threatening letters.

Please, don't let yourself get scammed like I did. I regret going through this process, and I hope my experience serves as a warning to others.

Don't do it!!!

Do not join this program. You can get Pci-dss training for free off the pci-dss counsel website. They charge 11k for the course, and you don't even have access to the training for life. They kicking you out after a year and then trying to charge 997 for another year. I have a large social media following and I'm going to make sure I let everyone know NOT to get scammed as I did. NOTE: to be fair, he does know what he is doing, but it is NOT worth 11 to 15k to learn something tou can learn on the pci dss website and you don't even get to keep access to the material.

You came here to hear the truth. Learn from my mistake.

Please believe all the 1 stars rating. Please believe us. You struggled to get that money, Don’t waste your money. I came back here to tell you because you came here to check the reviews. You can get PCI-DSS training with less than $2k not wasting $15k for only PCI-DSS. Don’t borrow loan as I did, I paid the loan over 2 years which amount to over $20k I paid for a certificate that even PCI-DSS industry does not recognize. I know Baxter won’t comment on my post because I gave him 1 star but if it’s a fake review of 5 star now, he will acknowledge it. Moreover, I will gladly appreciate a refund of my money.

Don’t even bother

Now I’m not going to sit here and dunk all over Baxter Clewis, but I’m not going to say it’s the greatest thing in the world. I’m going to point out the positives, disappointments, and the whatevers. And this is MY experience. I can’t speak for anyone else.

The Good:

I had a really great success advisor who helped me get through the program.

I had the chance to get my resume redone.

The Whatever:

There’s mindset training/motivational videos and you can journal how you’re feeling. I’m a self-disciplined person so this was something I “had to do.” If you get use out of it good for you, but for me, I could have done without it.

The Disappointing:

This course was designed for IT guys like me who want to level up their career. However, I met very few people working in the tech field. Most people were looking to make a career change into tech. While that is ok, this was not the place to start. And because there were so many non-tech people, I felt it clogged up the opportunity for men and women like myself to ask questions.

The biggest thing the school pushes is an internship where you get to work on an actual PCI DSS assessment. I was repeatedly told that the internship was incredibly important, and you had to take it seriously. For the first half, I showed up, missed time with my infant daughter to go to meetings, and dedicated a lot of my time for when we had deliverables. Halfway through, I realized it was a big waste of time and there was no point. We weren’t getting paid, not getting graded, we weren’t even getting feedback on the work we turned in. And all the important work we were doing equated to filling out excel spreadsheets. The people running the internship were doing the actual PCI work.

Finally, I did have a chance to speak to someone who came from Baxter Clewis, and he told me we only did maybe 6-12% of the amount of work that goes on in an actual assessment. I did have the chance to keep going in the internship, but I asked to leave. Time with my family was more important than doing things that don’t matter in the long run.

The whole work in cybersecurity in 90 days means you should finish your course work in 90 days then you get into the internship. While in the internship you are “working in cybersecurity.” So yes they are technically correct, but don’t expect a six figure job waiting for you at the end of the 90 days.

Bottom Line

What made this course so disappointing was the price. I paid $10,000.00 for essentially a bunch of Youtube videos and an “internship” which was essentially a glorified study session. If the price was cheaper, I wouldn’t be writing this review. There are so many free or inexpensive courses out there. That is the better path to go. Also, the whole “redo your resume” yeah that’s gone. Towards the end they provided us with a bootleg version of ChatGPT. They told us that we were gonna use this going forward to write bullet points for our resume.

However, Boyd has taken the course over again and is more hands on so I’m hoping things go in a better direction.

I’ll leave you with this, if you have no tech experience, I DO NOT recommend coming here. This is advanced cybersecurity. The thought of “no certs, no experience, and six figure job in 90 days" is completely laughable. Go learn the basics, work on a help desk, and build a foundation, then maybe come back and take this course. Also, even if you do have a tech background, it’s not worth it. Like I said, I’ve been in tech for 5 years, and this bootcamp didn’t do anything to help with my career.

And if you’re seeing all the other reviews and how positive they are, they’re all written by people that are currently IN the program. They all talk about how great the program goes, but nobody ever says “Baxter Clewis helped me get my current six figure role.” I wrote one halfway through thinking about my potential future, and now I’m out $10,000.00 with nothing to show but a cheap certificate saying I completed his training academy. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Not worth the time and money.

My experience with Boyd Clewis…

My experience with Boyd Clewis Cybersecurity was extremely disappointing and did not justify the investment I made. I had high hopes for this course, anticipating it would offer comprehensive training and valuable support in my transition to cybersecurity. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of these expectations.

The content of the course was surprisingly superficial, akin to a poorly executed Udemy offering. The materials provided were neither engaging nor informative enough to justify the cost. I expected a robust curriculum that would deepen my understanding of cybersecurity principles, but instead, I was met with what felt like a series of rudimentary lessons lacking in practical application.

Moreover, the support from the staff was alarmingly inadequate. Whenever I reached out for help or clarification on the course material, my queries were met with either delayed or insufficient responses. This lack of support was particularly frustrating and undermined my ability to effectively grasp the concepts being taught. The absence of timely and constructive feedback left me feeling abandoned and unsupported.

As a result of these issues, I found myself questioning my entire decision to transition into the cybersecurity field. The course did not provide the foundation I needed to confidently move forward, and the frustration I experienced only compounded my doubts. Instead of feeling empowered and ready to tackle new challenges, I was left disheartened and regretting the money I spent on a course that did not deliver on its promises.

In summary, Boyd Clewis Cybersecurity did not meet my expectations in terms of content quality or support. It was a significant letdown and has made me rethink my commitment to pursuing a career in cybersecurity. If you’re considering this course, I would advise exploring other options that might offer a more substantial and supportive learning experience.

Took the course= waste of time....

Critique of the Baxter Clewis Cybersecurity Academy

I recently completed a certification course at Baxter Clewis Cybersecurity Academy. My objective in providing this critique is to offer a balanced view that can help prospective students make informed decisions.

Program Structure and Content
The academy purports to offer cutting-edge training in cybersecurity, geared towards equipping students with the knowledge required to excel in the field. However, my experience suggests that the course relies heavily on theoretical knowledge and tools, such as AI-generated resumes, which may not adequately prepare students for the practical demands of cybersecurity roles. The curriculum, while comprehensive in scope, lacks sufficient practical assignments that simulate real-world cybersecurity challenges.

Support and Administration
I found the administrative support to be less accommodating than expected. For instance, despite a generally consistent attendance record, I faced disciplinary threats for missing a single meeting due to unforeseen circumstances. This experience was disheartening and seemed at odds with the supportive environment that is vital for learning and professional growth.

Career Preparation
The course includes features intended to prepare students for the job market, such as AI-enhanced resume building. While innovative, these tools did not compensate for the lack of practical experience, which is crucial for securing employment in the cybersecurity domain. Feedback and guidance on bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application were notably insufficient.

I enrolled in the Baxter Clewis cybersecurity bootcamp, which was advertised as a comprehensive and reputable program for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. The bootcamp's marketing promised a thorough curriculum, hands-on training, expert instruction, and job placement assistance. These assurances were key factors in my decision to join.

However, during the course, I found that the program did not meet these expectations. The curriculum seemed to have gaps in important cybersecurity areas, and the instructors, who were presented as industry experts, were often unresponsive and sometimes appeared to lack the depth of knowledge required. The hands-on training opportunities were limited, which affected the practical experience I was hoping to gain.

Despite these challenges, the bootcamp continued to require full payment and provided minimal support when I expressed concerns. My attempts to seek a refund or withdraw from the program were met with difficulty and ultimately denied. Additionally, the job placement assistance offered was more general guidance without substantial support or connections to potential employers.

As a result, I feel that I did not receive the value I expected from this program and experienced financial and emotional setbacks. I hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision about their educational investments.

Do your research

"I enrolled in the Baxter Clewis Training Program with high hopes of gaining practical experience in cybersecurity as I transition from a career in the medical field. Unfortunately, my experience with the program did not meet my expectations.

While the course materials were provided, they seemed hastily assembled, with the instructional videos largely consisting of reading directly from the PCI DSS Standards Manual. The promise of gaining real-world experience through an internship was not fulfilled, as the internship appeared to be based on hypothetical scenarios created by the program’s staff, rather than offering hands-on, practical experience.

One aspect that was particularly concerning was the 'supercharged resume' service. Despite my lack of IT experience, the resume they provided included exaggerated qualifications that did not accurately reflect my background, such as claiming I had over 15 years of experience as a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant. This misrepresentation made the resume unusable for me.

Overall, I found the program to be overpriced and not aligned with the promises made. For those considering a cybersecurity training program, I recommend thoroughly researching and evaluating alternatives before making a decision."

The program was very disappointing especially for the price. It was also worded that anyone without a background in IT could get a 6 figure Cybersecurity job, and it seems this was not the case at all. I did interviews for a year straight and even though I was told I was knowledgeable on the stuff I learned in the course, I didn't have enough years of experience or a degree in the field. I understand this is based on the companies hiring procedures, but overall I would not recommend this course to anyone that does not have plenty of experience in IT to lean on or a college degree.

Isaac,

Thank you for providing the evidence demonstrating that our process is effective. We have always emphasized that while our process secures interviews with hiring managers, it is ultimately up to the candidate to present themselves as the ideal fit for the role.

It’s important to recognize that hiring managers had already reviewed your resume prior to the interview and found something compelling enough to invite you for a meeting. This indicates that your qualifications met their initial expectations. However, the final decision is based on the interview performance, and in this instance, they did not perceive you as the best candidate.

We understand that it’s easier to attribute outcomes to external factors rather than taking personal responsibility. To address this common issue, we have developed targeted training sessions aimed at improving interview skills and perceptions.

We would have been more than willing to assess your interview performance and provide constructive feedback to help you improve. However, seeking and accepting assistance is a crucial first step.

**Frustrating Experience with Baxter Clewis Training Program**
My enrollment in the Baxter Clewis training program was met with high hopes, as it was marketed as providing comprehensive training and strong job placement support. However, the program fell short of these promises.
Unbeknownst to me, the Cybersecurity Accelerator Program turned out to be a watered-down version of the CASP Program, which may have undergone rebranding.
The program's curriculum lacked depth and failed to adequately equip participants with the skills needed to tackle real-world challenges, with many important topics being glossed over or omitted entirely. Expecting more hands-on experiences and practical applications, I was disappointed by the program's failure to meet these expectations.
In conclusion, the Baxter Clewis training program proved to be a letdown, failing to deliver on its promises of quality training and job placement assistance. I would caution against choosing this program for those seeking effective training and career support, recommending exploring other options with a proven track record of success in education and employment outcomes instead.

Several months have passed since the conclusion of my contract with this program. I have yet to establish a career in GRC or PCI, nor have I attained a six-figure salary. I endeavor to maintain my knowledge of current cybersecurity developments. However, I still lack a clear path to entering this field. I am contemplating whether to pursue additional training. Despite completing this program, I recognize the need for further experience and training in the industry.

Not Worth the $10,000 Investment

I joined the program 9/2021, expecting to secure a six-figure role within six months. Despite following the program outline, attending all live calls, and making significant sacrifices, my experience was extremely disappointing.

The program promised hands-on experience but fell short. Success coaches lacked depth in PCI material, often reciting information without practical application. When I asked questions, I was directed to the Slack community, which made me uncomfortable and led to countless hours of self-study.

Project availability was delayed for months, and when projects finally appeared, I received no feedback, and they disappeared without follow-up. This inactivity contradicted my commitment and hindered my progress.

The program's structure and delivery did not justify the $10,000 cost!!

Do not waste your money

I started the program in August 2021. I was having a hard time retaining information, and there were no study groups to help me. The success coach I had didn't know about what we were studying and couldn't help. I started a study group that was able to help the collective retain information and help with passing the exams. I did all the steps, including getting my resume supercharged and my LinkedIn profile upgraded, but I still wasn't able to get a job in the timeframe promised. I am in debt since promises made did not pan out. I have came across people that are currently in the program with the same results. Sold a dream with no resources of how to achieve goal. And always changing up the program with the no significant results for each group throughout the years.

Disappointing Experience!

I enrolled in Baxter Clewis Academy with high hopes of launching a successful Cybersecurity career. Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly short of expectations. The program's curriculum, while focused on PCI, lacked the depth and hands-on application necessary for real-world roles. The advertised promise of six-figure positions without prior experience proved to be misleading.

The program's structure was disorganized, with multiple staff changes causing confusion and setbacks. Furthermore, the absence of a certification at the conclusion of the course is a significant oversight. Given the substantial financial investment, I anticipated a more comprehensive and valuable educational experience.

The academy's claims of providing access to all materials were inaccurate, as additional fees were required for new content. This resulted in unexpected and ongoing expenses. Moreover, the program's financial structure, involving high monthly payments, places a considerable financial burden on students long term. Do your research and be cautious before spending thousands on this program!
