Looking at 40 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of the products, frequently mentioning issues like rotten vegetables, a lack of expected ingredients such as fish or meat, and an unpleasant taste described as watery or peppery. People also felt that the products offered poor value for money, especially given the perceived decline in quality compared to previous experiences. Some people were dissatisfied with the pricing, finding certain items to be excessively expensive, particularly when compared to supermarket own brands or considering the reduced quality. Reviewers also noted problems with the product's consistency, such as undercooked beetroot or pies that were difficult to remove from their tins without collapsing.

Baxters Mint Sauce

Totally bemused by the fact Baxters were 'sorry their product did not meet my expectations but have no plans to change the recipe'. This mint sauce is utterly disgusting with it's chemical toothpaste smell and taste, like other reviewers completely ruining our Sunday roast. If Porton Down had developed this as a chemical weapon they would be in contravention of the Geneva convention.

Baxters jawbreaking Beetroot!

Recently purchased a jar of Baxters Crinkled Beetroot and decided to treat myself to a salad what a shock the beetroot was so hard my fork wouldnt pick it up I tried to chew it but had to spit it onto my plate .
In fairness Baxters replied to my complaint with a £4.00 and advised that they tried to retain the crispness of their product.

It really does taste like toothpaste

It really does taste like toothpaste. Or menthol and eucalyptus. Smells so strong. Very disappointing. So glad we tasted it before we put it on our lamb dinner. What a shame Baxters, why change something when it was perfectly fine as it was.
It was also grainy, almost like sand.

Awful stuff

It's almost impossible to find mint sauce in the shops in Germany so when I found a shop that did sell it I started to look forward to a Roast Lamb Easter Sunday dinner. The meal was totally spoiled by a product that bears no resemblance to the mint sauce I know and love in the UK. I'm worried that it may actually have made us sick. It was vile, the jar has gone in the bin.
Baxters had a brilliant reputation in the past, they will soon lose it if they leave this product on the market.

I am in total agreement with the latest…

I am in total agreement with the latest reviews on the New Mint Sauce. My mothers Day meal was ruined by this strong peppermint tasting mint sauce, which even though I scraped it off the plate as soon as possible I could still taste it all evening.
Has an error been made with the type of mint used?
If so, call back this batch please before you lose all credibility as a Food Group. It WAS like mouthwash

Appalling mint sauce

I opened a new jar of Baxters Mint Sauce (expiry date 06/2022) and there was an appalling, industrial, smell to it. Not only is it clearly inedible, it is worrying that it smells like an industrial chemical contaminant. I have had to seal the jar in a strong bag just to put it in the dustbin, even with the lid back on the smell is so pervasive. My main concern was that I did not become ill after this close contact with it, but also that no-one else does either. I reported it to Baxters Customer Service but only got a bland 'sorry it was not up to your expectations' reply. Did not sound overly concerned. It is only today that I have discovered all these other awful reviews online and felt I needed to add my own experience as it is clearly an ongoing problem. Baxters really need to address this huge problem.

The "33% more meat" steak & kidney pie is awful

The "New Improved Recipe - 33% more meat" Steak and Kidney pie contained around 6 or 7 very small thumbnail-sized pieces of meat and a couple of tiny bits of kidney. The rest was all gravy and the usual pastry. But there was a spoon-sized lump of slimy fat that looked most inedible, and I wouldn't have fed it to my dog - it was unhealthy as well as unappetising.
We won't be buying Baxter's products again - it only rates 1 star as that's the lowest rating I could give.
It's a shame - a well-known brand family name from Scotland is bringing shame upon Scottish food products. Quality control needs a major review. If I'd served such horrible food to my guests at dinner I'd have been mortified.

I was looking forward to some beautiful Irish lamb and mint sauce for dinner. However when I tasted Baxter's mint sauce, toothpaste and mouthwash were the nearest things to describe the horrible chemical smell and taste. Do Baxter's not carry out some market research with their products?
Never again will I buy it.

Living in Canada, mint sauce

Living in Canada, we don't get lamb too often so it's a treat. I got Baxter's mint sauce from a British section of a shop an hours drive away.
Thank you Baxter's for absolutely ruining our meal with your toothpaste tasting sauce. I put the sauce in the gravy so there was no getting away from it. I will never buy this substandard product ever again

Your new mint sauce tastes exactly like mouthwash

Your new mint sauce tastes exactly like peppermint toothpaste - it's just ruined a lovely lamb joint. The bottle is now in the bin. When people start to realise what a complete mess you've made of this product your sales of mint sauce will drop 99%. Unbelievable that this disgusting gloop made it through the approvals process.

I am so sorry to say but this is an awful tasting mint sauce. My Sunday lunch was ruined and thrown away. The taste of mint was overly concentrated, it was like eating toothpaste combined with mouthwash. I do use other Baxters products which i find so delicious (tartare sauce, horseradish sauce, caramelised onion chutney).

Improved? HOW?

I've just tried this new improved mint sauce. It may be new, but not in any way is it improved. It is an insult to my taste buds. It tastes like spearmint, lacks the vinegary goodness one usually experiences and has a texture like watered down clay or light silt.
If I wanted mouthwash on my food I would go to the bathroom and find it. I do not expect it to come in a jar marked "mint sauce", newly "improved" or otherwise.
I want the old, unimproved, product back. This new stuff is going into the bin.

The new improved mint sauce has to be…a joke

The new improved mint sauce has to be the worst thing I have tasted in my 52 years of life. My hubby and I have mint sauce on roast beef, trust me it's good, I put it on my lovingly cooked, moist, proud of myself roast joint and I could've cried, I wish my brain slapped my hand before dumping this crap on my New years dinner, my husband was the lucky one, unlike my dumb ass self his brain recoiled at the smell alone, gonna go find a bio hazard dump and get rid of this jar of toxic waste.
