I had the pleasure of being supported by Alun in a recent employment situation, which was a very low point in my over 35-year career. At all times, Alun was calm, kind and very knowledgeable in advising me. I am very grateful to Alun and the BDA and would wholeheartedly recommend colleagues join the BDA if not already a member.

We operate across six practices with around 100 team members, so we occasionally require support with staffing matters. Each time we’ve reached out, the service has been exceptional. The team is consistently knowledgeable, professional, and approachable, providing clear, practical guidance that’s easy to understand and implement. Their support has been invaluable to our business.

I have been dealing with Shabana Ishaq in your employment law team for many years.
Running a large practice and having many staff means we regularly need to seek advice on these matters.
Shabana has always offered prompt, balanced and invaluable advice and is always my go to person.
Shabana is one of the main reasons I have stayed loyal to the BDA.
Many thanks for all your help over the years!

I have been a BDA member for my whole career and have always found the membership to be excellent value for money. I have used their HR support on several occasions which has been very quick access to good advice. I enjoy their training - both online and in person. The resources and library have also been useful in the past. Overall I would recommend any new graduate to join, and any practice owner to take advantage of the excellent support available all within one subscription.

I can't thank the BDA enough for their support throughout the mediation process. From making the first initial phonecall, the support from the staff behind the scenes and on the day, the speed at which they helped me get a mediation meeting in place and their aftercare has been exceptional. I was completely terrified and left in an awful situation and with their help and support, I have been able to get closure on a major professional issue and make positive steps forward into getting my life back on track. Thank you.

I had a dispute over an unauthorised creation of a new case charge while on maternity leave, even though coverage existed until 2027. Ezra was incredibly helpful, offering detailed guidance, tailored advice, and support across all options. She was understanding of my situation, listened carefully, and paid great attention to detail. Thanks to her expertise and dedication, the unjust fee was withdrawn. Her professionalism made an already stressful time much more manageable, and I’m not sure I would have achieved this outcome without her.

I have been really impressed with the service I received as a member. I had an employment contract issue related to maternity pay and Alun was so quick to get in touch, really reassuring throughout the process and offered lots of support.
I really appreciated the support at quite a stressful time, and am not sure I would have gotten the result I did without his hard work.

Within an hour, I was able to access an article that was unavailable in France. It was extremely useful to me in connection with an asylum case. I would like to commend Mr. Peter for his courtesy and promptness, especially since we are in the middle of Christmas holidays. Thank you again, Peter.

I had a very pleasant experience with Natalie Birchall, who was my advisor, when I wanted a quick decision regarding accepting a new role.

Recently Shabana supported me through a very difficult time at the practice and I cannot rate her high enough. She is highly professional, prompt and caring and I really felt supported and reassured along the way. I would definitely recommend the BDA to anyone seeking professional, reliable and efficient advice.

Due to the complete ineptitude of BSO and Pensions dept (NI ) in sorting out my pension I was very lucky that Phil and Jo at BDA managed to sort things out. Considering that I had to take immediate medical retirement due to a life threatening disease you would have thought my pension would be expedited. Quite the contrary . Phil was able to sort it out thankfully . Top man!

Sabina gave me HR support and advice that was both excellent and highly efficient. Her guidance was clear and supportive to a multidisciplinary situation. The advice not only resolved my immediate concerns but gave me the help and guidance I needed at the time to not only help me but support the staff member. I would highly recommend the HR support service that the BDA offer to anyone seeking professional, reliable and effective advice.

These regarding the BDAs failings as a regulator, I wrote to them on 16.12.2024 and twice in January 2025, because their name was not on the list fir complaint procedure. The BDA even did not answer to my letters and did not investigate "CastleView Dental", the company DOCS UK Limited trading under this name and used the team of Paulo Malo with the equipment and details to come toWindsor .
I am in the Court now and threatened to get charges for "ruining the reputation of a director', who does not know what is going on in his Clinic and even signed the "Witness Statement" (can provide) showing he did not see my Medical Notes, even I started complaint procedure in April 2024 it was not investigating and BDA was not even an addressee for the Complaint! Private dentists are above the LAW.
Why all these Laws and Regulations if nobody doesn't follow them and BDA is not investigating Dentistries and their teams? Reputations first, patient safety and wellbeing is secondary. People are organising groups on Facebook, trying to help each other to be heard. It was not easy for me to make a disclosure of my case. But I want to see Britain Great!
I visited CastleView Dental Premises in Arundel House Windsor 40 times. It was always different nurses but nobody stood by me knowing I am almost died during this long 5.5 years! As a long dental negligent patient I asked for a diagnostic, but it was not done until 3 prostheses were made wrongly. My diagnosis I brought aven not put in my Medical Notes!
I gave my details for contacting me and will ask Court to make an official answer from you!

Alun, I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for being such a supportive confidant during what has been a particularly challenging period for me. I truly appreciated your advice and, above all, your candour as I navigated a very difficult situation. I would highly recommend all dentists to register with the BDA.

As a recent overseas graduate, I unfortunately found myself taken advantage of and signed a contract I should never have agreed to. When the situation became unmanageable, I reached out to the BDA for support. That’s when I was connected with the wonderful Jacinta McKiernan—truly an angel in disguise.
Jacinta went above and beyond to support me through a very difficult time. She was incredibly thorough, kind, and reassuring, with a wealth of knowledge that made all the difference. She helped me navigate every aspect of the issue, providing clarity and guidance every step of the way.
Jacinta McKiernan is an incredible asset to the BDA team, and I’m deeply grateful for her help.
My only regret is that I did not register as a BDA member sooner.

I have been a BDA member for as long as I can remember and have always had excellent service from their advisors around practice matters. Recently if was necessary to speak to someone about a problem I had serving as a specialist advisor in the salaried service. I was put in touch with Chris Burns who guided me through all the paperwork and attended meetings with me. I can honestly say that the care, dedication to the best outcome and. warmth of spirit Chris showed was totally above and beyond anything I could have imagined. If you are in salaried service and you have a problem then the BDA and in particular Chris Burns have "Got your Back"
