Not a professional service
I got a quote for €265 and had to pay €40 upfront to secure the booking.
I was put forward to a Patrick Thornton assessor of which I contacted to make arrangements.
Mr. Thornton sent a Mr. Breifne Murphy on his behalf to complete the works as he was not available on date I requested.
Mr. Murphy had no tools but a form of which he recorded information.
He asked me for a document to state the year of build. I provided this to Mr.Murphy who wanted an additional document or stated he would have to estimate the time build of which would have took 80 years off my property and in turn the rating would suffer.
I got him the additional document and then he made me aware of an MPRN error on my original form (fault of my own).
Despite providing the documents he withheld my paperwork until I rectified the MPRN issue.
I contacted the SEAI department and I told Mr.Murphy the advises provided to me but he still refused to complete his side of the paperwork.
Mr Murphy was paid in full at my property and I even tipped him for his time.
Mr. Murphy informed me that my paperwork was in the post and when I questioned same he was less than helpful.
I contacted the original assessor about this issue and he informed me that he would call to my property to rectify the matter.
Mr. Thornton (original assessor) collected the paperwork and ensured me that it would be completed and returned to me by post. No further assessment was carried out.
I feel this to be a terrible service and would advise any person to withhold payment until completed cert is received.
Mr. Murphy took it upon himself to post me a blank document despite being asked to complete the form so I could forward it to the SEAI department as they had requested.
I would not be happy to use this service again and I have no doubt my rating will reflect the “professionals” involved as opposed to the property assessed.
I would advise you to research the persons completing the work before inviting them to your home. Unfortunately these people don’t know how to stay in their lane and do what they’re meant to do.

Really easy process to book a BER assessor via BerCert.com. Simply enter property details and suitable dates and choose from the subsequent quotes you receive. Very straightforward. Ray, that completed our assessment was a gentleman and provided lots of really useful advice. Couldn't recommend him enough.
