Wellbeing Apprenticeship

I am almost at EPA and I have had excellent support from Kelly Whittle to get me to this point, It wasn't ideal having to change Skills Coach half way through the course but Kelly was so supportive and has really kept me on track, I now feel confident going through to EPA and I hope I will have as outstanding coaches to get me through, as I did with Kelly. Thank you !!

the course taught me so much both professionally and personally. The tutors were professional and helpful and always available to help. They offered free workshops throughout the course for specialised subjects. Would definitely recommend.

Whilst we always strive to improve, your acknowledgement together with the numerous 5* reviews we receive, prove we are doing a lot right, which we are extremely proud of.

We will reach out to you directly to correct the CPD certification omission as this was something we were unaware of. Please accept our apologies for this oversight, it will not happen to any other learners in the future as a direct result of your review and our subsequent process changes.

We always welcome constructive criticism, as it helps us grow and improve. Your opinion is important to us.

We accept that the externally assessed examination period at the end of the course can be stressful and we try our utmost to minimise the effects of this on our learners. Some of the improvements we have made to improve a learner’s experience since your completion in July 2024 are detailed below:

Specialised EPA support: A new team was established to ensure smoother End-Point Assessment processes, with subject-specific expertise.

Consistent coaching: We are striving to ensure learners now have a maximum of three dedicated skills coaches throughout their journey noting sickness and holidays will also mean a learner might always have exposure to other skills coaches.

Improved onboarding: We’ve implemented state-of-the-art technology to ensure clear, consistent messaging from enrolment through to EPA, for all stakeholders through head teachers, mentors and indeed CEO’s of multi academy trusts so that learners know what to expect.

Learner journey investments: From experience mapping to feedback loops, every step of the journey has been strengthened.

Quality assurance: We've adopted the ISO 9001 quality standard to underpin a culture of continuous improvement.

We are about to roll out a level 5 Specialist Teaching Apprenticeship which is a pathway for joining a level 6 programme to gain qualified teacher status, (QTS) with the learner having no “student debt” - becoming a teacher for free.

People development: With the implementation of Investors in People (IIP), we’re supporting our teams to maintain excellence even in challenging circumstances.

Data security: Our achievement of Cyber Essentials Plus certification demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding customer data and putting the customer at the centre of everything we do.

Traumatic Experience

The Wellbeing Apprenticeship did not take my wellbeing into account!

There were many changes in coaches and course materials. Meetings and revision sessions were moved or cancelled continuously. The course took six months longer to complete even though I had completed all work on schedule.

I was not prepared for the End Point Assessment which was stressful and extremely upsetting. My last email was completely ignored by BeReady.

The coaches were lovely and kind but I felt they were adjusting to continuous changes and amendments to the course. It felt chaotic and that I was caught in the middle.

I cannot recommend this course.

We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge your achievement - completing a demanding A-Level equivalent qualification, while working full-time, is no small feat.

As one of our very first learners we recognise that our initial rollout was not without its challenges. As a disruptor entering a complex sector, a sector with its own significant people challenges, we experienced some growing pains, particularly around staffing and onboarding.

However, learner feedback - including yours - led us to make immediate and significant improvements, including:

Content enhancements: While bound by the required framework (KSBs), we acknowledge the original content needed refinement. Substantial improvements were made swiftly based on early feedback to the benefit other learners in the next cohorts.

Reduced over-assessment: We streamlined the process to relieve pressure on learners already working in demanding roles. We accept that from the outset, we put too much pressure on learners who already work in demanding roles, and we addressed that immediately.

Creation of a dedicated escalation team: Facilitating hundreds of hours of Off-the-Job (OTJ) evidence for some of our learners, a very common frustration. Investing seven figures into the creation of an OTJ evidence capture app to vastly improve the learner journey.

Consistent coaching: We are striving to ensure learners now have a maximum of three dedicated skills coaches throughout their journey noting sickness and holidays will also mean a learner might always have exposure to other skills coaches.

A number of schools co-author the content, sense check and ensure it’s on point. This significantly reduces the risk of the issues you experienced. We have moved to a model of “built for the education sector by the education sector”.

People development: With the implementation of Investors in People (IIP), we’re supporting our teams to maintain excellence even in challenging circumstances.

Data security: Our achievement of Cyber Essentials Plus certification demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding customer data and putting the customer at the centre of everything we do.

This was the worst training provider I…

This was the worst training provider I have ever had the misfortune to have studied under. I had 8 different skills coaches each of whom never passed information between each other. My Dad passed away halfway through the course and even after telling them this they still hounded me for work. Please never use this “training provider”.

No learner should feel pressured or unsupported during such a deeply difficult time, and we are sincerely sorry if our actions added to your distress.

From reviewing our activity during this period, it consists predominantly of calls and communications to check on your wellbeing as well as trying to ascertain the situation at the time. In hindsight, it would have been beneficial to agree a Break in Learning for a suitable period of time to ensure that any work related communications (which we are duty bound under regulation to make) regarding the apprenticeship were ceased. This is now part of our standard processes during unfortunate circumstances such as these.

For context, the 6 “Skills Coaches” you experienced included 3 Skills Coaches (with two of them leaving our employment due to personal circumstances), an Escalations/Learner Engagement Coach, Functional Skills Tutor and dedicated EPA Coach. As everyone with similar circumstances to your programme requirements would expect 4 coaches during the same time period we acknowledge your expectations could have been managed better in this regard.

We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge your achievement - completing a demanding A-Level equivalent qualification and achieving a Distinction, while working full-time, is a significant achievement in such a difficult time.

Whilst we cannot undo the impact this had on you, your voice has helped shape the improvements we’ve made, including limiting the number of coach transitions, strengthening our internal handover processes, and introducing additional pastoral support for learners who need time and space due to bereavement or personal circumstances.

We understand that your trust was lost, and whilst we are proud of the progress we’ve achieved over time, we recognise that none of it excuses your experience.

I have loved doing this course i did…

I have loved doing this course i did have a bumpy start at the beginning but know i have an amazing tutor Sophie honer who has helped me so much and has made the course very enjoyable we have had many laughs and great online lessons together.
I would definitely encourage anyone to do this i have learnt so much that i can take forward and use in my job thank you again Sophie.

Great course and great coach!!!

I am currently completing my wellbeing champion course and could not have done it without my amazing skills coach Sheena. She has helped to make sure I am able to complete tasks to the best of my ability, often going above an beyond to schedule time to meet and discuss my worries. The course has lots of interesting elements which have both supported my existing knowledge but has also guided me to further my skillset. The experience of my skills coach has enabled me to have really beneficial professional conversations that have supported me in the workplace.

I have been doing my level 3 SEND course since summer and have thoroughly enjoyed doing this. Angela is an amazing mentor who works above and beyond to make sure I am managing everything and does generally care about our mental wellbeing.

My learning experience is great so far. The tutors are supportive and accommodating, and the learning is good. You have the opportunity to give yourself a specific time to do your learning and still have some personal time and if there are struggles, BeReady can support with that as well, so that you can always succeed.

I can’t Thankyou the BeReady team…

I started my wellbeing course through…

I started my wellbeing course through BeReady nearly two years ago now. It was hard juggling a full time course with a full time job. However I gained so much help and support through many of the course providers and skills coaches.

A big thank you to Charlotte T for supporting me as one of my skills coaches. A big thank you to Aaron S for going through each assignment and task with great detail.

A big thank you to Charlotte M for taking the time to revise and deliver mock exams with me. Every session we had made me feel at ease. Great informal team meetings.

Every one who works for the course gives you the impression they want you to pass without judgement or negative critics.

I had a very rocky start

I had a very rocky start, working full time and trying to get my head around the modules. Then along came Angela, she is AMAZING!!!!. Angela gave me the confidence and support to continue, and I am almost at the end, and it is all thanks to Angela. She has always responded to any questions/concerns/meltdowns that I had, her patience and understanding I could not have asked for any more. I felt like I was with a genuine friend when we met. Thank you Angela for the laughs and the tears the ups and the downs, I know without you strong support I would have not been able to complete. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything.
