Believe the reviews. No accountability…

It’s honestly so sad that after 5 years of recommending them and buying them I have to redact that and switch filters. What’s important to note about all the bad reviews is that Berkey has created a system of no accountability. You have a bad experience and they claim “there are several different Berkey headquarters and suppliers your bad experience wasn’t with us, it was with one of our partners”. No… it was you buddy. It was THE customer service line from THE website. I got hung up twice while inquiring about a brand new filter arriving broken. Instead of even trying to problem solve the lady was rude and hung up on me, denied it, then did it again and laughed. The founder actually followed me on tiktok and I thought surely I could reason with him. Nope, zero accountability. Lied through his teeth. I am seriously shocked that such a large company would care so little about customer retention.

Shady company

I ordered a Berkey without doing my research. Many bad reviews. I requested a return for my unopened filter. Not only do I have to pay the shipping, there’s a 15% restocking fee. How ridiculous.

If I could give less than 1 stars

If I could give less than 1 stars, I would. I've had my berkey for almost two years and it's been working good for the most part. But all the sudden, it has stopped filtering properly even after scrubbing the filters and re-priming.

I called customer service to see what else I could do and the representative told me she couldn't find my name in the system. She said it's possible that my berkey came from a "different manufacturer" and that's why my name wouldn't show up for them. I told her I ordered directly from their website and she explained they sell from multiple different manufacters. I don't understand what that means but I feel they should still be able to look my name up in their system. It's been two years.. I no longer have an order confirmation email (if I ever had one).

Basically, I'm screwed. Thanks Berkey!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.. big time scam.

BUYER BEWARE!!

BUYER BEWARE!!!

This is by far the WORST company I've ever had to deal with.
I got tired of using a junky PUR counter top filter and during the Black Friday sale decided to spend $400 on a Berkey.
It was shipped and delivered promptly, however the delivery company they chose to use (UPS) decided to deliver my package to the wrong address.
I took the day off of work to ensure that the package wasn't stolen off my porch and was outside 5mins after said delivery.
SUPRISE! No package. I immediately called the USA Berkey and UPS. Both companies claimed it was delivered and both companies told me it was the others fault and neither took accountability for this failure.
This package was delivered to a lucky random stranger over a month ago as of the writing of this review. I've spent over 8 hours of my personal time trying to locate this package.
As of this review USA Berkey has done nothing to rectify my lost/stolen purchase, they've blamed UPS, which I agree, is UPS' fault for delivering to the wrong address, however I paid for a $400 water filter that I never received and USA BERKEY should have immediately sent a new product but refuses to send me the product I paid for.
Today December 24th I spoke with UPS and they told me that USA Berkey CLOSED my investigation with the missing package days ago but never informed me they did this.
I wish I would have read the reviews on this distributor for Berkey before purchasing.
Absolutely trash customer service from this company.

Terrible

Terrible, terrible customer service!!! Quick to take your money however and not deliver! Have you noticed the multiple sites with various prices ... all active at the same time. You can pay full price if you don't hunt a bit more for a site that extends a sale offering or bundle. Definitely don't fall for their $25 credit voucher that they never send ... email after email and they play coy and send you in circles! I soooo wish I had read more of these reviews before I spent the money for their system ! Urghhh...

Worst customer service I ever accounted…

Worst customer service I ever accounted for in a company. We ordered a Berkey system and had it one week and the filter was not filtering so we opened the lid and the very expensive filter was broke. It was defective yet they would not take responsibility and would not offer a new filter. Horrible experience

Worst customer service I have ever…

Worst customer service I have ever received from a company. They only sent part of my order (it was a bundle and they didn't send the second item). I spent about 4-5 hours over two different weeks trying to reach someone about it. The first woman told me I didn't originally pay for the item (ahem, it was a "bundle") so therefore it was never shipped and I would have to order it. What? She ended up hanging up on me mid conversation. Had to call back three different times and wait on hold for 40-45 minutes again, was promised that managers Katie Miller or Sarah Gonzales would call me first thing Monday. No one called. Next day tried to call again and their online phone system wasn't working. Once I got through the 10th time, they state the #3 button goes for warranty and replacement, but actually takes you to technical assistance. Can't even get the phone system right. Finally got through after wasting much time, and the man said that they couldn't send me a replacement before I leave the country (8-10 business days only). I had to escalate again and when I heard back from Sarah Gonzales she was super rude, spoke over me, and told me they never send "replacement" items 10 days after the order being placed, maybe 30?? I said, it isn't a "replacement," you forgot half of my order and I have documentation it was never included in the original, sealed shipment (The original order was delayed on their end, btw). Honestly, go elsewhere. If I could get my 4-5 hours back, I would gladly run from them. I had purchased a few filters from them, but would never ever recommend this company to anyone.

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company. Impossible to get ahold of and if you email them, they just send an automated response. I paid $375 for a piece of stainless steel that I can’t even return. It takes at least 5 hours to filter 1 gallon of water after just freshly primed not 2.75 gallons an hour like they claim for the Big Berkey. Total scam. DO NOT PURCHASE.

Great Customer Service

I had an issue with another Berkey distributor. Dan helped me and was very knowledgeable about the product. I also had an issue priming (user error) that he helped me with over the phone. I've recommended them to several people, and will only order my Berkey products from here.

Worst Customer Service EVER!

This company has the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I accidentally had an order shipped to the wrong address. I called them, left a message and sent an email before it was shipped asking them to please send it to a different address. I was assured 3 separate times that the package was being rerouted to the correct address. After it was delivered to the wrong address, they would not lift a finger to change the situation. I called FedEx, explained the situation, and told them I wanted to refuse the shipment. FedEx was extremely nice to deal with and was kind enough to retrieve the package from the wrong address where it was delivered and send it back to where it came from. I had to go through a PayPal claim escalation to get my money back. I hope this company shrivels up and dies.

Don’t waste your money, doesn’t work. Terrible customer service.

Do not waste your money. These filters do not work and are crazy expensive. They won’t accept returns or issue refund.

I live in Arizona, there are a lot of mineral deposits in the tap water, including calcium and salt. I noticed no difference from the tap and filtered through the Berkey. I ended up purchasing a water solids testing device, which basically shows how many solids are in water. My tap was 408, the Berkey 398! A bottle of Kroger water was 30 and Dasani 33.

I have a hard time believing the filter could possibly work on anything smaller and harmful. I requested a refund, their customer service just copied and pasted a ridiculous 10 day, un-opened product policy. So much for “satisfaction guarantee”.

"berkeywaterfilter.com" lies about its customers and doesn't stand by its products

The company behind this website, and you cannot find out who owns it or where it is, will not stand by the products they sell. If you get a defective product, you will be denied a return or refund, and will be forced to resort to the manufacturer warranty. In the case of a filter I purchased, that warranty merely allows for its return at my expense followed by the "opportunity" to buy another one at a discount.
I got no traction with them trying to get them to take a blocked filter element back and indeed they lied to my credit card company and claimed that I alleged a fraudulent transaction.
There's nothing unique that they sell and you can get Berkey filters from hundreds of competing companies. I advise you do that and avoid this one, they're not worth the trouble if something goes wrong.
