Wax left inside my vagina was very painful
Because of how the owner of Be Silk handled a serious medical issue, I will not return. Some of the techs are really great and I feel that a mistake by one tech is forgivable. I had a Brazilian sugaring appointment at Be Silk Dordrecht where a significant amount of hot sugar wax was left in my vulva and some entered my vagina, causing rawness, swelling, and pain. The owner did not seem to understand how I had swelling, raw red skin, and a pH imbalance leading to bacterial vaginosis. Sugar inside your vagina can cause yeast infections and burns as well, but not in my case. Sugar does not belong inside the vagina. I had to seek help from my doctor about this and it was over a week of pain and discomfort.
I contacted the salon immediately to ask for advice and a refund. It took her six days to check her spam folder to find my email. I called several times but no one picked up the phone at the salon office. I also asked if I could come discuss in person but was ignored. The owner was condescending and never once showed interest or compassion about my injury. She said the wax is “only sugar and water” and cannot be harmful. (A quick search for sugar and vagina show this is wrong). I got no apology from the owner, just a conveyed apology from the technician who just made a mistake. The owner sent a 40% discount for a future visit as her way to close the issue. After a week of pain and feeling scared, I won’t be going back so I didn’t accept this discount. This incident was back in October and I am not sure why it matters how long it took to write a review. I have yet to get another salon or waxing as a result of my waxing experience at Be Silk for 5 months after having to see a doctor about sugaring wax inside my vagina.

I’m sorry to hear this. I’ve tried several times to contact you and find a solution. At the same time I’m quite surprised about your review, as our email contact was several months ago. Apparently I didn’t understand you correctly when you said you didn’t want any contact anymore. I’m sorry about that.
Of course after a treatment the sugar paste should be removed completely. I am deeply sorry about the experience you had. I understand your concern and am willing to explain more.
Again, indeed, our sugar paste is only sugar and water, one can eat it. So again, no medical harm can be done, whether the sugar paste is on your leg, vulva, nose, anywhere. One can easily wash it away with water.
To be more precise, it’s glucose, fructose and water. These ingredients are common, natural for your body inside and won’t cause any harm when they touch the inside of your lips/vulva.
