I’d always wanted to visit Japan, and when I started looking for a summer internship, Beyond Academy seemed like a great option and I’m really glad I went with them. It was my first internship and my first time traveling alone, so going halfway across the world felt intimidating at first. But having a built-in community through Beyond Academy made a huge difference.
The Tokyo community team was incredibly kind and welcoming, and it was great to have people to explore Japan with. Some of my favorite events were the day trip to Enoshima Island and the visit to TeamLab Planets. I’m more of a “tag-along” than a planner, so I really appreciated the weekly events that helped me experience Tokyo without needing to research and organize everything myself. At the same time, there was enough flexibility to explore independently.
I stayed in the accommodation provided by Beyond: a sharehouse which was clean and comfortable for an 8-week stay. The rooms were small but sufficient for the 2 months I was there.
I also had a great experience with my host company. My coworkers were friendly and supportive, and the tasks I was assigned were manageable. I had signed up for a Software Development internship but ended up working more with AI and query tuning than hands-on coding. Still, as my first internship, it was a good learning experience and gave me insight into a professional work environment.
One thing I was nervous about before arriving was the transportation system—I had never even taken a subway before. But I quickly got the hang of it; Tokyo’s public transit is incredibly efficient. I did have to figure out routes to events on my own, but it became easier with time.
One thing to keep in mind is the summer weather. I was there from June through July, and the heat and humidity were intense, especially if you're not used to subtropical weather. I absolutely loved my time here and definitely plan to return someday, but next time I think I’ll visit during a cooler season.

My internship experience with beyond academy was excellent. The coordinators were approachable and very helpful. I had a great time at the community events. There was a nice variety of options in terms of community activities, and I always enjoyed my time there.

My internship was incredibly insightful even though it was not in my top field, but I learned many skills and can build up my resume. The community team was delightful and such nice people to be around, and I’m truly grateful for all they did to make us feel less alone.

I absolutely loved doing this program. I will admit, in the beginning through the application process and interviews and such I had a really hard time with communicating as well as the language they use makes you have to rush through it all quickly. Even with that being said the actual program itself is so amazing. I am so glad that I was able to come and do this opportunity. It has given me professional experience as well as so many new personal connections. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to live abroad and really soak in the culture through daily life. It really has been such a fun experience.

I loved my internship in Seoul, South Korea, coordinated by Beyond Academy! It can be really scary to go to a new country where you don’t really speak the language and there are large cultural differences from what you’re used to but Beyond Academy was so helpful in helping me adjust and find community! There were tons of really cool activities, the internship was very eye-opening about what I may want to do in the future, and the office environment was incredibly friendly. Overall, I think it is a really formative experience to go to a new country where there are stark cultural differences while you are young to help you appreciate the diversity of the world and the importance of learning about different cultures.

I absolutely loved this program. I went to Tokyo, Japan for my internship and it was just absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed my time there and the friends I made inside the program Everything was very well coordinated and planned out, very easy to go through the steps of interviewing and selecting a company to work for. Support was easy to get and communicate with if you had any issues or problems. There were also many community events for you to explore new places and meet other people who are doing the same program as you so you can make friends. I would definitely recommend to anyone who can to do this.

Weekly events, new friends and experiences, and cultural immersion.

Great experience! The placement team found me an opportunity that adjacently aligned with my field (due to there being obstacles surrounding my working directly in my field), and I was able to grow professionally and do quality work. The community team were super supportive and kind, hosting many events to allow you to meet other interns! However, the placement team was not very communicative and a lot of the process was last minute, making planning difficult.

Beyond Academy was great. Super nice and supportive people. You get to connect with other interns and do all sorts of events throughout the city.

I went through career coaching which helped in my interviews. They placed me with a job that I liked and it was a great opportunity for me. They were very communicative, always hosting events and helping other interns out. I was able to see many places across Japan, and contribute meaningful work to my company. The accommodation is simple but nice aswell!

This company was incredible when it came to events, help, accommodations and people. It was an awesome experience and it helped know i would have friends going into it!

The community is very supportive and they made sure my intership match my career goals. Because of this, I feel like I have grown as a professional and as a person, Japan gave me experiences that will forever live with me as life lessons. I totally recommend!

The overall experience was incredible. Living and working abroad caused me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. The internship itself self was ok with being able to work in my field but not really growing in it, just gaining experience. Other than that the whole experience was amazing and I am sad to go 🥲

I recently spent 4 months with Beyond Academy in Tokyo and can genuinely say it was an amazing experience. The community was lovely, and all the coordinators were so willing to be helpful too. I chose an amazing time to visit too, March to June. It gave me a lovely experience of being able to see the cherry blossoms and experience pretty much all the seasons except autumn there. Highly recommend! Say hi to the coordinators for me :)

Wonderful experience with Beyond Academy. Luiza and Isabel are amazing at their jobs and are a big reason why the experience was so amazing. Isabel specifically puts so much effort into the activities for us interns and getting to know us on a personal level. I felt like I had gained a big sister in a new city, something anyone would appreciate. I enjoyed all it the activities and trips, as well as all the different foods I was able to try. The other interns were wonderful, and a lot of them I think will be friends of mine for life. I feel the work experience I got was also amazing, gaining a lot of responsibility in just the short 6 weeks. I would recommend anybody to do a Beyond Academy program in Barcelona!

Very nice experience! The local support coordinators were great, and Seoul is a city I know and love, so it was a pleasure to be back here.

The program provides you with a very nice balance of working, exploring/enjoying free time and socializing. The weeks went by too quickly!

The internship itself maybe wasn’t a perfect match for my career goals, but it definitely provided me with skills that are transferrable! Overall I would say it was well worth it.

My experience in Seoul with Beyond Academy was unforgettable. From the very beginning, the staff were incredibly kind, supportive, and always there when needed. It truly felt like joining a global family – the community was vibrant, welcoming, and full of amazing people.

The internship exceeded all expectations. I was given real responsibilities, felt appreciated by my team, and gained hands-on experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally. It was inspiring and gave me a clearer vision for my future.

This program doesn’t just look good on a resume – it transforms you. If you're thinking about it, don’t hesitate. 10/10.

I had a great experience with Beyond Academy in Barcelona. The community team went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and our schedules were accommodated. The living accommodations allowed us to meet people from all around the world and build strong and meaningful connections. The city of Barcelona is amazing in general, and I felt very fortunate to have the opportunity to have such an incredible experience there. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to expand their horizons and grow personally and professionally.

Program was a great growing experience. But if you come expecting to have be in vacation mode 24/7 then i strongly recommend you do a study abroad program or just go on vacation.

I actually hadnt been a fan of the company I was interning for at first but I decided to challenge myself and stick with it to see how it goes. I had initally wanted an HR position but instead I got a sales role. And while I don't think Sales will ever be the life of my life I do think it was an interesting experience.

The other interns were kinda young and godawful and living in the sharehouse with children that didnt know how to clean up after themselves was literally the worst.

The coordinators were cool and very helpful. They were very helpful and great to hang out with.
The share house was very mid, not handicap accessible but I didnt need that until the very last week of my trip :D.

The property managers were slow to respond and slower to help.

Overall great experience. There are some bumps but that is a normal part of life.

I did an 8-week internship in London and the London community team at Beyond were amazing! They were always so happy to help me with any advice I needed about my internship, housing, or even just life in London. I felt so comfortable talking to all of them, like I was talking to a friend, every time!
There was always so much to do and so much on offer from Beyond. So many options for events, but never any pressure to do all of them, you could easily pick and choose which social events you wanted to go to! And every one I went to was so much fun, and I met so many other interns from around the world who I am still in contact with now!
