Entitle is extremely unreliable

The company I work for uses entitle.io (recently acquired by BeyondTrust) for just-in-time access management. Opinions expressed are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of my employer.

Unfortunately, I'm the engineer that is responsible for liaising with Entitle's support team whenever Entitle stops working, which happens frequently. An access management tool like Entitle is something a business depends on to function properly on a day-to-day basis, to provide staff with the access they need to do their jobs. When Entitle stops working, staff become blocked and we have to resort to time consuming and error prone manual processes to manage permissions.

When I raise a ticket with Entitle support one of two things happens, either they admit their engineering team introduced a problem, or they can't explain what happened and prompt you to wait for their daily sync job which often - but not always corrects the issue. This means being stuck for hours waiting for a sync that may or may not fix the problem and the root cause of the problem is not discovered.

I write software for a living and understand that sometimes bugs slip though and negatively impact a customer. Despite this, my experience with Entitle suggests that it is fundamentally broken software and the staff have a poor understanding of how it works. This is very concerning given my company trusts Entitle with access management and sensitive data such as service account keys.

I would recommend you look elsewhere for your just-in-time access solution.

Feature rich but poorly designed

Really poor design of the management features, not logically laid out and to set up connections you must use two totally separate consoles. There are many features but to someone new to the product, finding them can be a challenge as there's little logic to how it is designed. We asked for a feature enhancement and after two months of apologies we were finally told they couldn't do it, the impression being they couldn't be bothered. Very underwhelmed with this company and probably wouldn't have chosen them if we could go back.
