Avoid if you value customer service. Unreasonable 35% fees for 5-day delay
I am writing this to warn other customers about the rigid and, in my opinion, unreasonable return practices of this company.
After an emergency 8-day hospital stay for surgery, I was slightly delayed in returning an unopened, unused item. I notified the company of the return on March 2nd. Despite explaining the medical emergency and offering to provide hospital discharge papers as proof, the company (specifically Lucas) refused to provide a full refund because the item arrived a few days outside their window.
They initially demanded a 35% "restocking fee" for an item that hadn't even been opened. When I pointed out my statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and noted that their own emails incorrectly claim a 10-day return window instead of the legal 14 days they abruptly "closed" the matter.
Most shockingly, they have stated that because I won't pay the 35% penalty, they will either charge me to send the item back or "dispose of" (destroy) the goods. They now have both my full payment and the product in their warehouse.
I would advise caution when dealing with this company if you value customer service or empathy during unforeseen life events. I am now forced to recover my funds through a bank chargeback.
