Unreliable service from Biffa
As a small café owner, reliable waste collection is essential — unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience with Biffa.
We’ve had repeated missed collections, which quickly becomes a hygiene and operational issue for a food business. On top of that, communication when things go wrong is slow and unhelpful.
I understand no service is perfect, but consistency is critical in this industry. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t rely on Biffa for a small business.

Unreliable and unacceptable service. Biffa repeatedly misses collections in Barking, leaving waste piling up and creating serious hygiene issues.
Charging more while delivering worse service is unacceptable. Avoid if you are a business.

Terrible Service, Visits get cancelled for no reason. Say one thing on the phone and the opposite happens. Made around 25 calls to Biffa in the last couple of months. Signed my contract for 1 visit per week on a Friday morning but upgraded to 2 visits per week which has caused non stop problems. Last week it was cancelled on a Friday Morning going forward (original service agreed in contract), called up to cancel and was told she was checking with a manager - A week later still no call from a manager. All I want is a bin to emptied twice a week, it cant be that hard can it?

I need to make substantial changes to our service/bins and wanted to know my options. I spoke to one advisor , then came back the second time and spoke to a gentleman, he helped as best he could but then transferred me to another person. I spoke at length to Chloe Green who could not have been more patient and helpful, explaining everything! So due to her service and suggestions I have stayed with Biffa and signed a new contract! She is an asset to your company!

I initially enquired online but the website couldn't cater for my businesses specific needs. A rep reached out and we went through what I needed. It was left in January with her saying they would ask the depot to confirm they could provide the service. They had gone home for the night so she would come back to me the next day. I haven't heard anything since. I followed up at the beginning of March asking if the lack of communication meant they couldn't provide the service. I still haven't had anything back.
If the service can't be provided that's fine but to just then drop all contact is very unprofessional. I can only assume they determined I was no longer worth the time.
Based on other reviews I actually feel like I have had a lucky escape. I would definitely look elsewhere.

I used to be very happy with Biffa, but since Christmas, the service has become completely unreliable. After multiple missed collections over the past few months, I am now in an impossible situation.
When I called to complain, customer service actually asked me why the collection was missed. I was shocked—how should I know? I always leave the bin in the correct location for them, but they simply don’t show up.
When Biffa misses a collection, they tell us to leave extra bags next to the bin. However, we have now been warned by the Council for fly-tipping; if we do this again, we face heavy penalty fees. At the same time, we cannot keep extra waste inside our premises because we would fail our Food Hygiene inspection.
Last Friday, they missed us again. On Monday, they finally came but only emptied the bin itself, leaving the extra bags behind. I was promised a driver would return on Monday or Tuesday for the rest, but nobody showed up. When I called back, I was told they only service our area twice a week and I must wait until Friday.
Because Biffa keeps failing, I am forced to pay another company to come and empty the extra bags. If I don’t, I risk being shut down by Food Safety inspectors or fined by the Council.
Why am I paying Biffa for a service they aren’t providing, while also paying a second company to do Biffa’s job? To make matters worse, they refuse to cover these extra costs and tell me I must pay for the remainder of my contract if I want to cancel. It is entirely unacceptable to be trapped in a contract for a service that doesn't work.

Spoke with Adele Wilkinson today after taking over a new business and was looking to transfer over the account from the previous owner into our new company.
This was one of the easiest processes and was done without a hitch and has worked out better for the business with the advice given from Adele.

Really easy to get prices for the type of bins required, which were 3 different types. Great follow up calls and offers to take advantage of via customer services.
The prices are competitive and cheaper than our current waste collector.
