Scamming sub-contractors

I was hired as a contractor to do a web development project for BigDrop. Three months after the job was done I still haven't been paid.

If you're a contractor, avoid this company. They will keep coming up with excuses and won't pay you.

My point of contact was James Weiss, Managing Director, who demonstrated zero interest in resolving this matter and provided multiple ETAs for the payment, which were all false. As of today, BigDrop still owes me money for the completed work.

First, I thought it was just a delay or miscommunication. Now, after 3 months of chasing, I believe it's intentional.

We wish we had never worked with Big…

We wish we had never worked with Big Drop!

We hired Big Drop in 2016 to solve our issues with our previous website. Though our initial budget was around 25-30k the price quickly went up to ~70k during the negotiations. But since the offer was the “full package” we decided to be all in. More or less everything went well until the end of the design phase. Big Drop was responsive, they did create some good designs and everything lined up with previous discussions. But came the development phase and we were not happy any longer. First, we skipped the second part of the design approval form that would have had a detailed description of the website’s functionality (preview, design tools, etc.). Until today, we do not know what to think of it. Delays followed delays. We tried to be patient, we tried to make compromises but after 2 years when we were quoted another 15-18 months to finish the website (the contract we signed said 6-8 months), plus we were asked more money than what we agreed to pay originally we just had to say: no more. Our previous website did not convert. We had stopped all marketing and planned to survive that 6-8 months period. But we just couldn’t manage it any longer. We were exhausted, stressed out and never been more frustrated in our lives so we decided to shut down the project. At first we thought Big Drop was a capable web design company yet the near year and a half (plus another 15-18 months quoted) delay felt unacceptable, developing core features without discussing it in full details and/or ignoring our notes in regards of them felt very unprofessional and wanting to charge for changes out of compromises we made in order to help them just felt very unfair! What makes the experience feel even worse, we have to take this court to settle it (to be fair, they agreed to settle this but on their own terms which we couldn't accept.) We can not put it into words how much we wish we had hired another web design company!
