I prefer to be Fat than in Law troubles

In December 2021 I sent a request to cancel my membership because I had to move when Corona was happening, they did not take care of my request and 75 days later somebody came to me with some invoices even when everything was close in The Netherlands, today 8/11/2022 I receive a threat than if I don’t pay during all this time I will get €2500 fine by they lawyers, so €15 converted in €2500 sound very good right?
That is biggym go to Google and check the documents I posted in latest reviews

Can't cancel my subscription

I was a user of Biggym Alkmaar from October 2019 until COVID came to town. Then, a year later i tried to stop my subscription in October 2020 with no success. Several times i sent emails to administration asking to please stop my subscription. Until today i still receive monthly bills that I have to ask my Bank not to pay as they use the SEPA acreditación that i signed 3 years ago. I am considering hiring a lawyer and start a class action lawsuit as I see there are plenty of damnified clients. Please let me know your thoughts and contact me at in case you would like to join for a joint lawsuit.

Dear Ivan,

We see that you have only completed a withdrawal form, you can revoke a membership with an online registration 14 days after registration.
Your membership could no longer be revoked, we have also indicated this.
Unfortunately, we never received an unsubscribe after that.

You can now cancel your membership via the BigGym app.

Hoping to have informed you sufficiently with this.

Don’t subscribe to this gym. Big Scam!…

I have been sending emails to Big Gym to stop my subscription since last year. I came back from my home country. They replied 2 months later and said I have to pay the current invoice to stop it. I asked then for the invoice €75 at the time I asked to stop it but wouldn’t give it to me. They said I have to pay €150 because they responded 2 months later. Until now, they keep sending me invoices even though I no longer live in the Netherlands for 1 year. I tried calling them but no one was picking up the phone and no reply on emails. Don’t subscribe in this gym. A bad customer service can cost you a lot. It’s their fault but you have to pay. I will put negative in it if I can.

Scam

Do not ever sign any contract with Biggym. They are trying to extort money from me for 2 years already. I have sent them countless e-mails telling them that I do not live in the Netherlands and I am not going to pay for anything that I am not using. They respond in Dutch which I told them I do not speak and are not helpful. The problem started when they closed the gym due to coronavirus and 4 months after being closed they decided that they will charge me for all the months which I could not access the gym. Ofcourse I was not going to pay for the time when the gym was closed and asked them to terminate my contract. They will not terminate my contract until I pay, so until this day they keep sending me monthly e-mails increasing the amount to an absurd point. What don’t you understand? I am not going to pay for a service I am not using. Stop harrasing me.

No good ventilation in the gym.

The air conditioning system is very bad, and there is no good ventilation in the place. However, the staff is friendly, and the site is big enough and well-equipped. Only the ventilation problem is a real issue...

Dear Aghyad,

Thanks for your message.

Glad to hear you're happy with the staff!
The problems with the air conditioning should be completely resolved, due to the recent period, the making of the air conditioning has been delayed due to delivery time.
The air conditioners have a system that filters the air.

Terrible, just terrible - do not put your foot into this gym

I was a member of this scam during my exchange for 5 months. I did not have a Dutch bank account so we made an agreement that I will pay in cash, which I did. The last day I went there and unsubscribed my membership with an employee to make sure that everything goes right. The staff told me that everything is alright and I do not have to pay anything. When I had returned to my home country, they all of a sudden started to send me invoices. I contacted them and got no response. Now, after 7 months the sum is over 300 euros and they claim that I have to pay it first before I can unsubscribe. I contacted them Immediately after the first invoice and told them that I am not able to pay it since I do not have a Dutch bank account (which they are very much aware of) and they only provided me an iDeal link. Now they are threatening me with debt collection, even though all of the invoices are completely unfounded. It is not my fault that your system is broken or whatever the reason is. The fact is that I unsubscribed with no outstanding amounts. How could I even have open invoices since I paid with cash all that time?
Now, I have had enough. This is the last chance to settle this before I take
any further legal actions. Check the law books; I contacted you immediately after the first invoice and told you that I am not able to pay it. You did not provide me a sufficient paying option in the first place. I am not obligated to pay the subsequent invoices.

I completely agree with the comments…

I completely agree with the comments that this company is a scam.

I have registered my son for 1 month trial and they have charged 3 months! Supposedly because you have to cancel before you register as you have 1 month notice.

Called and they asked me to send an email to administration, which I did. No reply! Send reminder, no reply!
I approached personally and explained the situation, telling that my son wanted to engage for 1 year and I was ready to make the enrolment immediately, provide they waved the charges for the 2 months not used. The answer was no.
Beside not being serious on the business, in my opinion are not good at business. Just want to scam people with their app.

With a flexible membership you must pay at least 2 full collection periods, this is also indicated in the general terms and conditions.
The cancellation was passed on in the 2nd month, so a cancellation period applies, Mario's cancellation has also been processed.

Hoping to have informed you enough with this.

We are busy behind the scenes with the problems with the air conditioning, this interests us of course.
Most air conditioners are made and work in The Hague, we are working on the other problems with the air conditioning.
Unfortunately due to slow delivery it can sometimes take a little longer.

But we are definitely working on it!

It is a scam

They are sending me invoices over 6 months after the cancellation of my membership. I was an exchange student and paid for my membership in cash because I do not have a Dutch bank account. When I had cancelled my membership and left the country they started to send me invoices, claiming that I have ”outstanding amounts”, which obviously is not true. Jim, I know you are reading these reviews: I have contacted the European consumer care (ECC) since you are not answering my emails and clearly have trouble understanding the problem. ECC will contact you via Dutch authorities to settle this. This should invalidate the unfounded invoices.

Someone please help me

Someone please help me.

I just discovered my subscription keept on going for 8 months now.

Since february I am not located in the Netherlands.
I was planning to go to gym there but I had to come to my home country due to some personal issues.

Every month since February I am sending them emails to inform that I am not in the Netherlands. Back in february I even paid the cancellation fee thinking that my subscription will get cancelled.

I informed big gym I am not using their service and an error was made. I dont speak dutch and I ended up in a subscription with them

2 weeks ago they send me the login details for the app to discover I have to pay 8 momths of gym membership.

Now they threat to send me to a collection agency if I dont pay. And they say to me that the only way to cancel the subscription is by paying the outstanding amount otherwise the subscription will keep on going. (I dont know until when?... lifetime or what)

I really dont know what to do. I have tried calling, no answer.
My emails are being responded with the same text.
Pay and we will cancel, dont pay we keep on charging you.

I must mention. I never set foot in their gym. Dont even know where the hell is located....

They are trying to extort money from me and they barely reply to emails.

What is to be done in this scenario?

Whatever you do, do not join this gym

I was a member of Biggym Zwolle during my exchange studies, the membership lasted 5 months. All this time I had paid my membership in cash, upfront, since I did not have a Dutch bank account. This was discussed and agreed with the employees. I cancelled my membership before I left and talked with the staff to check that everything is alright. I had no due invoices and had paid from my remaining membership a few months before. When I returned to my home country, they started to send me unfounded invoices, claiming that I have not paid my membership. They have kept doing this for over half a year now, I was (and still am not, not to mention that I would even be obligated) not able to pay the invoices in the first place since I do not have a Dutch bank account. They are not answering phone calls nor emails - I have been trying to contact them for months. Now they are threatening me with debt collection through some automatic emails. Any advice what to do in this situation?

They suddenly demand payment for a contract i terminated more than a year ago.

I signed up for a "samen" contract more than 2 years ago and at some point I moved to a different city but I was stuck with a 1 year contract. Fortunately I found a gym that buys out your existing membership, I signed up and even filled their form to end the contract, and ever since I haven't heard from big gym.

But 2 years later, long after my contract period. I receive an email about a unpaid balance. This doesn't make any sense. I have sent multiple emails but received no reply. Why would they randomly bring my subscription back from the dead?

They continue to send their emails and offer 0 explanation. Avoid this organisation at all costs, you will be stuck paying them a monthly fee with no way out.

I visited the gym

I visited the gym. It looked great. I had some questions on membership. However, I was not encouraged by there being no email contact address on the website. I did some research and found the administration @ biggym email (shown in the other messages).

I sent an email (gmail) 3 times and reply each time was that message was rejected/blocked. Not a good indication of how communication would be if I needed to end the membership after the fixed contract period. So although the gym looks great, I am concerned that it would be difficult to end my membership should I need to do so. This has put me off joining.

Impossible to contact

I was a member of Biggym Zwolle during my exchange studies and paid in advance for my membership with cash as I do not have a Dutch bank account. When I paid, we agreed that my membership is ending on January. I even went there on my last day to make sure with the cashier that everything is in order.
Yet, they keep sending me invoices telling me I have to pay for February. In addition to that, they only provide an iDeal link, which I cannot use since I still don't have a Dutch bank account. So I would like to get in touch and discuss this matter as I am not able to pay the bill even if I would have to. They are not answering the phone when I try to call them and apparently they do not have a working email. Unbelievable.

EDIT: the email they gave me in their answer is not working either, yet they just sent me a new invoice

Biggym trying to take money after Cancellation

Cancelled my membership back in November 2021 through the online form, didn't receive anything back except email saying request was received and employee would create ticket. followed up with emails in response but they wouldn't respond. Then in January (2 months after cancellation!!) and again in February they send out invoices even though I have cancelled. (I blocked the direct debit as I had cancelled my membership) Customer service is only contactable via premium phone numbers. Horrible experience. When I select on their website to make a complaint, the fill in a form link is there, but surprise surprise when you click on this, an error occurs. Do not recommend this gym.

Absolute joke, scammers and thieves

My son took out a subscription, he cancelled it pretty much after 2 months. He never even went there, he had a cancellation confirmation email. I find out that they are still taking money, over a year later. There is supposed yo be a final bill sent to him he has never received. I have emailed and I get no response, they are trying to rip off a child, even though they said cancellation has gone through they are still taking money for something he is not using or never has!

They get the money but dont cancel the subscription

I had to cancel my subscription as the owner and funder of my 'samen' subscription.(november)
after i filled the cancellation form they responded after more than 2 weeks (this is really long time) and say 'other ' member of 'samen' subscription should also fill the form. So my partner also filled the form.(december). we paid for december by the way! we did not get response almost 2 months.
Now i see that my subscription is still active and they get 35 euro even for january. i used the facility just twice and my partner 3 times and we paid 105 euros!

that is biggym

We see that you have completed a registration form for a 1-year subscription on 29-9-2021. We cannot terminate a 1-year subscription early. This is possible at the end of the contract per 28-9-2022. Good gym but dishonest, scamming and misleading staff.

Really good gym equipment, space and lockers. Overall happy with the functionalities provided. However, when I wanted to cancel my subscription they had me fill a form and said it was done. Months later I get emails that I need to pay for 3 months worth of fees. It takes half a week (the first time three weeks) to get an email response and the staff in person just pretend they dont know anything. They keep forcing me to pay for those months despite the fact I filled in a form when I unsubscribed and now they're telling me I can't because I didn't pay? Why was I not told I had to pay when I unsubscribed in person and why do they want money from me? They're asking for money even though they said that by filling in the form that I am unsubscribed now. Really unprofessional and fraudulent attempts to take my money. I have nothing against the gym's staff. Why do they have to ruin their reputation like that. Until they finally unsubscribe me and stop wrongfully asking for my money I will not update my review.
