Buyer beware!
Buyer beware! We purchased a used backhoe from Big Motor Traders that was advertised as being "meticulously maintained, with recent servicing covering all fluids and filters, operates smoothly and is leak-free...the interior offers air conditioning and heating for operator comfort,....new seals, no leaks, new filters, new oil". When we picked it up the mechanic who was supposed to have serviced it, had not. There were numerous leaks, there was no hydraulic oil, no fluids and the filter was covered in dirt and grime. The cab door wouldn't stay open, the seat wouldn't swivel, it was stuck in 4WD, the mirror was broken off, the lights didn't work, a tooth was missing on the bucket, an alarm wouldn't go off and the rings on the seals were missing, among other things. I called the salesman prior to accepting the backhoe and since the advertisement stated that the backhoe had been "newly serviced" and "ready for immediate work" he did offer a small credit to cover the extensive maintenance and repairs needed. Additionally, since there had been no fluids added, we assumed the AC only needed Freon. Once we got it home, we discovered that there actually was no AC even installed - even though it had been advertised as included! To install an AC is $5000. Within the first 3 hours of use, the bolt holding the pump on snapped and made the backhoe completely inoperable - the other 3 bolts were completely missing. We have spent thousands of dollars over and above the initial credit to fix the above items plus the hydraulic pump needed to be reattached and the rams needed to be replaced, at a significant expense to us. The salesman offered a small refund and admitted that the backhoe was not as advertised, but the amount offered wouldn't even come close to what we've spent and what we would need to have an AC installed. This is a clear case of misrepresentation based on their ad. Be very careful dealing with this company - we would never do business with them again and would absolutely not recommend!
