The mattress was not for me, and that's fine. What was not fine was the process to return the mattress and get a refund. It took weeks, and I eventually wound up dealing with all of it myself. 😠

I really hate this mattress
I really hate this mattress. 😩 I’ve given it over a year and still it’s awful. I wanted so badly to love it. My husband and I were looking for an affordable mattress with natural, organic materials and ultimately decided on this one.
When it arrived we both couldn’t believe both how thin and how bouncy it seemed. No chance of moving without waking the other person. But we decided we’d give it a try because sending a mattress back is a hassle. Soon after I started having bad hip pain. Simultaneously I found out I was pregnant so I assumed the pain was from that and disregarded it. But a year later, after giving birth and still using this mattress, it turns out it wasn’t my body at all. It was the mattress! I still get hip, neck, and back pain from it. Not to mention it’s impossible to sit on and breastfeed or relax with the baby. It’s supposed to be firm but definitely is not. I wish I could send it back but now it’s too late. Such a disappointment when you pay so much for a new product. Don’t make the same mistake!

I am not giving 1 star because I still have hope that I will actually receive a mattress. It will be 5 weeks tomorrow when my order was placed and I am still waiting for the “white glove” delivery. My order has been lost in the warehouse for almost 3 weeks and a replacement was finally ordered by Birch to be delivered to the same warehouse. The signed delivery means nothing-apparently the FedEx delivery driver signed it himself with my name which is part of the reason no one can locate it. This much information has taken at least 7 calls/messages to both Birch and Ryder to obtain. Every one I have talked to has been pleasant and helpful but unfortunately the issue is still not resolved. I can’t speak at all to the comfort of the mattress so hopefully this is worth it in the end. If you want to order from Birch I would recommend arranging your own set up and avoid adding any 3rd party to the mix.

The logistics is poor
The logistics is poor. You'll get your bed mailed to you in 2 stages with setup being the 3rd stage.
Also, you'll only get a partial refund even if you didn't receive anything.

Cigarette smell
I’ve purchased 2 mattresses from birch living within 2 years apart. The first smelled like cigarette smoke upon opening, we tried everything to get rid of the smell eventually we encased it in a waterproof cover and moved it to our guest room. A couple years later I decided to give them a try again and to my surprise this one smelled like cigarette smoke. We live in a home on about 1 acre of land away from others, we are also a nonsmoking household. Unfortunately, the second mattress I purchased it sooner than I needed in fear of fulfillment issues in America right now and my “trial period” has expired. When emailing a representative from the company she gave me false hope this would be resolved. I understand there might have been production issues the first time around but two mattress both smelling like smoke and no solution? They’ve also stopped responding to all communication leaving me no choice but to contact BBB and leave a review here. I’d venture out to any other company!!

Twin mattress
I ordered the twin mattress on discount, which came with a pillow. It feels like a cross between a just-warm-enough hug and a cloud. I struggle with hormonal sweating, too, and the breathability has kept the resulting sleeplessness at bay. Haven't slept this well this consistently in years. If you need a new mattress, this is the company to buy from.
