Birds Eye - New Chunky Basa Fish Finger

Birds Eye chunky fish fingers used to be made with Pollock, usually from the N.E. Atlantic, with a typical fish-finger crumb coating and were ok as a quick standby. Now they are made from Basa, a cheaper to buy fish, farmed in the Far East. The coating is of larger "breadcrumbs," in a slimy batter. The fish itself, a claimed 56% of the product, is unpleasant, with a different texture; the batch I bought had an almost chemical flavour. If usual white fish supplies have become so depleted through overfishing by giant supertankers, I guess companies will source from any available alternative producers, wherever in the world. There's an alternative marine stewardship logo on Birds Eye fish packaging now too, to cover Far Eastern areas.

Cardboard curries

I’ve just had the worst example of a bland and tasteless TV dinner I could imagine, a Birds eye chicken curry with rice, what an affront to the nation of India, the person responsible for it should be sent there and put on trial for treason
The photo on the box certainly talked it up, to be honest I’d have been better served cutting that out of its cardboard sleeve and eating it instead, it couldn’t be less wholesome
While I accept I shouldn’t expect a restaurant experience, this offering was dumbed down to a level way below what’s acceptable
Surely no one at Birds eye would be caught dead eating this rubbish
It all smacks of Ratners the Jewellers all over again
Shocking

just made a meal of frozen chicken pies and steamed veg..........what a disgusing taste experience!
Carrots don't taste like carrots (horrible aftertaste), chicken tastes like nothing and pastry is inedible.
Oh how this company has deteriorated!!!!!!

Fish cakes and battered chicken - not good value.

I bought some Birds Eye fishcakes (4 in a box), but they were small and fell to bits. I complained to Birds Eye and got a voucher. I used this to buy Birds Eye chicken in batter (2 in.a box.) The chicken didn't seem very nice - not like chicken should be. I made my purchases as an experiment, but I won't be buying anything more from them. They used to be nice and good value years ago.

Fish Fingers aren't what they used to be in the 80s

I too feel I should voice my displeasure following my evening meal which consisted of fresh vegetables, chunky chips and birdseye fish fingers x 3. The batter failed to crisp as I had hoped and the quality of fish was substandard at best. Sh*te and overpriced. Mark Hibberd

What a disappointment!

What has happened to this once decent frozen food company? I have thought their peas have been getting ropey, this week I bought some chicken burgers. They were just awful. Thin, foul smelling and bright orange!
So sad.

Seeded crust fish fillets

We bought the seeded fish fillets as part of our diet. However they were so dry it was like eating crackers and the crumb coating totally overpowered the fish

When i was a kid Birds eye burgers and…

When i was a kid Birds eye burgers and fish fingers were both as good as any frozen food you could buy.
Having tried both in recent times i can only say that i will not be buying either again.
These products are only fit for the bin.

If I could give no stars or a negative…

If I could give no stars or a negative 10 stars I would. What a disgusting product. My husband and I just got the beef steak burger patty for burger night and the chances of this meat being donkey is so high. Disgusting excuse for a product people pay good money for. I swear to all that is good and tasty I WILL NEVER PURCHASE YOUR UTTERLY DISGUSTING FOOD EVER AGAIN! THIS COMPANY IS A DISGRACE AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR SUPPLYING THE MOST DISGUSTING EXCUSE FOR FOOD I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!!!

Plastic in fishfinger

Thumbnail sized piece of plastic in my fish finger. It could’ve choked me or my child! It said to contact in various ways so I sent pictures and description via a message on Instagram. 4 days later, I have heard nothing. I have just tried their online chat and it is so slow and useless I feel more irritated than I did before! Not good customer service, Birdseye, I am disappointed.

If I had my way I would not even have given it one star, I brought the bird's-eye vegan non fish fingers they was awful to eat, they had no taste and no seasoning in them, they was dry I would never get them again. They was a waste of vegetables and a waste of money to be honest.

Way too expensive

I used to quite like their battered cod fillets, but now they've hiked the price to £6 they're not worth it. I can buy 4 frozen cod fillets for less than £4 and batter them myself.
