It's wrong about everything

You take photos of your food and drink and it estimates the calories. It is entirely wrong about everything. Like way out! I'm having to calculate the correct figures myself and update it. So if I'm calculating the calories myself, what is the point of the app? It's not helping at all or saving any time.

Scam

Scam.
Cancel subscription a week later of starting is as the calorie count is not accurate. They charged me £53 3 months later requested a refund and they sent an automatic email saying the refund was done but it never reached my account. Emailed them again and no answer gotta report the payment with my bank now

Scam

Scam! Paid for a 14 week subscription and then got charged for that and a meal plan add on which was another £20 that I didn’t buy! The subscription doesn’t show under apple and they are refusing to refund me. I wish I checked the reviews before downloading this app. Steer clear

FRAUD

FRAUD, guys.

This is my last email to them:
Dear BitePal Support,

This message constitutes a formal notice regarding unauthorized transactions charged to my account.

Despite my previous communication, I have not received an answer from you. I explicitly state that I did NOT authorize the charges of 172.42 RON and 178.08 RON associated with your service.

Furthermore, I have already provided the requested invoices. Therefore, any further delay or request for repetitive information is unacceptable and will be considered bad faith conduct.

Your platform appears to be engaging in misleading subscription practices, including:
- Lack of clear and transparent consent for recurring payments
- Misleading trial conditions
- Absence of a proper and accessible cancellation mechanism

These practices may are violations of EU consumer protection laws, including:
- Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights Directive)
- Directive 2005/29/EC (Unfair Commercial Practices Directive)

I already did the following action;

1. Filing a formal complaint with the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net)
2. Reporting your company to consumer protection authorities in Lithuania
3. Submitting detailed public reports and evidence of my case on consumer protection platforms and media channels
4. Informed the police

Please treat this matter with urgency and confirm:
- Immediate refund of the full amount
- Permanent cancellation of any subscription associated with my account
- Written confirmation that no further charges will occur

Failure to act promptly will result in escalation through all available legal and regulatory channels.
Everything you do to your customers are fraud.
You will soon appear in press and will be investigated by law because you steal our money.

I did everything required for a refund…

I did everything required for a refund and they are ignoring my request and not refunding my money! The racoon is ridiculous and can't measure anything accurately. The quiz promises new science and technology and it's just fake fads, lies and extortion - stay well clear!!

Edit - after leaving this review I got a refund within hours. But it took so long that I will be leaving this review up.

Edit after your reply - I know how hard it is to run a business but you get such a high score on play app and I don't think it's warranted. I want to remain the flip side of that coin because you have to look on Reddit etc to find out that everyone talking about the same issues I had...so I'm not sure you're fixing anything no. But I do thank you for the return of money - unfortunately it cost me so much time to chase it I probably could have made more in my own business in that time. But it's principal.

Con. Do not accept partial refund.

Had to run all communications through “ChatGPT” my end to get the exact wording right for a full refund and cancellation. I cancelled within 48hours and had paid via website. Hope this helps anyone in the same position.

I signed up to see what the app was…

I signed up to see what the app was about and cancelled before the trial period ended. I didn't receive a confirmation email then... that should have been a red flag. Now 33eur has been taken from my account and the customer's service is taking its time to answer my emails (as in two days later and no answer). I can't log in anymore as my email address is somehow not recognized (whilst on the receipt I got it clearly states this email adress). I'm still hoping for an answer from customer service but if I were you I'd avoid this app. For trying it for a week I have to say the calories are also way off (it's calculated by AI if you didn't now).

Scam! Please do not download

I downloaded the app, and then realised it's not as great as advertised, cancelled and though nothing of it. On 6 occasions they have tried to deduct £30 plus points from my account. I have sent several emails regarding this. I cannot use my account I've had to move all money, cancel my card and I am scared of them taking the money. Save yourself hassle, don't download.

They've asked me to amend my review, but I will not because they still tried to take money out again 21.03.26 and 01.04.26 so therefore I won't retract my review.

Not easy cancellation

DO NOT USE!!! Same as everyone else. I cancelled within the time frame, and no reply. This was a trial subscription as well. As someone else stated there is only a delete button not a cancel button, which does not cancel the subscription so I emailed to hi(at)bitepal.app that same day to request a cancelation, but was charged four more times afterwards.

Figured out that once you email them with a very scary email they will contact you back and refund.
Here is a generic email to use if needed:
Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to my previous email dated dd/mm/year, in which I clearly requested the cancellation of my account within the required timeframe.

Despite this, you have failed to action my request and have proceeded to charge my card without authorisation. This is unacceptable and may constitute a breach of your obligations under the Australian Consumer Law, including but not limited to provisions relating to misleading conduct and unauthorised transactions.

For clarity, I have retained all correspondence as evidence that my cancellation request was made appropriately and within the stipulated period. Your failure to process this request and the subsequent charges have caused financial detriment.

I now formally demand the following:

Immediate confirmation that my account has been permanently cancelled
A full refund of all unauthorised charges
Written confirmation that no further charges will be applied
If this matter is not resolved within five (5) business days, I will have no hesitation in escalating it further. This will include lodging formal complaints with my state consumer affairs body, as well as initiating a chargeback process through my financial institution.

Please treat this matter with the urgency it requires.

Hope this helps everyone. I also asked stop payments through this email support(at)reface.ai, as this is the billing company, just requesting the immediate cancellation of my subscription associated with Bitepal / Reface. As I was unable to access the Bitepal website or manage the subscription through the usual channels, so I need this cancelled directly by their team.
I also started a dispute claim with bank and will continue this until I see the return funds in account.
But as you can see this is abit much to cancel a subscription.

Absolutely rip off. Signed up for the weeks trial. Didn’t like it so cancelled my subscription straight away but they still took £33 from my account.

SCAM!!!

listen to all the reviews when they say this is a scam. i paid for a membership that was for one week only, and costed 5 dollars. my membership then got secretly transferred to a different one without my knowledge and it took 55 out of my bank account. there is no way to cancel in the app or on your phone settings, they make it impossible to cancel. it is a fraudulent app and i am currently working with legalities to try get it shut down

Charged money no service

Charged money, no service. Avoid.
I was charged 38.95 USD, but I cannot see my subscription anywhere (not in the app, not under Apple ID). After contacting support, to cancel my renewal subscription they removed my access immediately to the app — without refund or explanation. Though they charged me for a year…
This is not acceptable. Be careful before subscribing.

Outstanding Support – Issue Resolved in Minutes

Had an issue with my account and an unexpected charge after a trial, but Jake from BitePal replied within seconds and sorted everything immediately. He processed a full refund, cancelled the subscription, and was incredibly helpful throughout.

He also mentioned they’ll pass on feedback about improving transparency around trial rollovers for future users, which I really appreciated.

Honestly not sure what the bad reviews on here are about - this was one of the fastest and best support experiences I’ve had!

Be careful with the subscription system…

Be careful with the subscription system - it is a scam.
The app advertises a free trial and a Google Play subscription, but I ended up being billed separately for a monthly “Pro” subscription outside Google Play. The app still showed my account as a free plan and most Pro features remained locked, so it was unclear what I was paying for.
I had to contact support multiple times to cancel and request a refund. The billing setup and lack of cancellation options in the app were very confusing.
If you try this app, check your subscriptions carefully and watch your card statements.

Didn’t let me make an account after paying

Took money out of my account and then said they’re not able to make an account when I tried…

After the response to my review they told me to get in touch with Apple for a refund who have now refunded me. I don’t think it should’ve taken me leaving a bad review to get my money back but 🤷‍♀️

The app was ok

Scam

Scam, payments continue to be taken from your account for a random amount even though you cancel the subscription and the app says there is no account with your details. Do not join as you will not get your money back. I would give zero stars if I could.

Terrible Customer Service

I have tried repeatedly to cancel my subscription, first requesting it within the 48 hour window stated in their terms of business. I have had no reply to any email so I have now paid for an app I will not be using. Furthermore reading other reviews, I'm worried they will continue to take money from me in the future. Disgraceful customer service. Avoid.
