Outside of Joseph, the other 2 or 3 of our movers were very subpar.

Had a great experience! Chad, Anthony, Dee and Aaron were THE best! Very attentive and were top notch! Highly recommend this crew! Even had several good laughs throughout the day.

We did not have a good experience with Black Tie Moving. We paid almost $6,000 for a full pack up and move and were thoroughly disappointed. I don’t typically take the time to post a negative review but felt compelled to do so in this case as they did not follow instructions on multiple things that caused harm and delays. There were a couple of bright spots (kitchen was packed well with nothing broken) but otherwise we were disappointed.
1) We were supposed to have 2 trucks and four guys reserved but after the pack they knocked us down to 1 truck and 3 guys without confirming that with me. They could not fit everything in that one truck and offered to “come back on Tuesday” at an additional cost to finish up.
2) They left behind our mattress despite specific requests to ensure this made it to the house
3) We had spent 10 hours carefully sorting toys and pieces into their specific bins and had requested that they be wrapped up in plastic wrap and placed into the boxes. They instead dumped them into boxes and created another 10-15 hours in new work.
4) There were some scratches on our coffee table and laundry machine. This is to be expected though as that is part of moving.
Overall this was far below our expectations for “The best move of our life” for the associated cost.

Lack of communication between management and movers regarding the job. When the movers arrived they were unaware that they needed to pack a few rooms and they were unaware they were moving to two different locations. Careless with my belongings in packing and moving. At one point one of the movers wiped his brow on my uncovered mattress! There is a lot of damage to the walls and furniture. The movers were told to pack the truck properly to move belongs to a separate storage unit and my new house and they got that wrong too- everything is mixed up!
I requested a call from an executive or owner- I am absolutely disappointed that I have not received a call.

Our wood floors got roughed up. Our mailbox was hit by the truck. All of the antiques were handled very, very poorly! A ca 1850 secretaries desk was disassembled after it left the house after being told it couldn't be separated. The bottom was gauged, the top was broken and hammered back in place by workers. Two other antiques had gauges in the top. A bookcase was dropped down a hill. The workers on the second trip were rude to my family when asked to move items that they had put in the wrong place (one item had to be moved 3 times to get it right). I can go on and on.....

The crew of 3 men, led by Joseph and including Jason and Harry, were a great team, working together in good spirit under Joseph’s leadership. The only downer from 5 stars was because Mason, the move coordinator made a mistake in estimating the load, and was difficult to reach during the move to resolve issues. Reading the Black Tie rhetoric, I thought the coordinator was supposed to be in close coordination throughout the move. That did not happen on my move.

On time, took care of fragile items and were done in 3 hours … the crew was very good and informed..!!

Black Tie movers were highly recommended to us. We, unfortunately, did not have an experience that would generate anything above a one star (and that is being a bit generous). Furniture was damaged in the move, that happens; how it was damaged and the lack of concern from management is why they get a low recommendation. The movers jammed the last of our wood furniture into the truck with no padding; they were told by their manager to 'make it fit' and they did - with gouges and scrapes to show for it. We took out additional insurance for $250, with a $250 deductible. They would not schedule any repair until we agreed to pay the full deductible upfront - before we even knew any repair estimates. Seemed only interested in getting the $250 from us. We finally decided to stop working with them and handle repairs/replacements ourselves. Recommend you find someone else to handle your move.

The guys that helped us move were fantastic. Energetic, professional, and fun.

We tested them for sure with some heavy objects but they knocked it out of the park.

Black Ties’ business model is that you receive “rock star” treatment when you use them. We were ignored, items broken, walls damaged, inaccurate estimate of charges and no response from the owner after requesting a phone call.
It’s not unreasonable to expect their salesperson to get close on estimating how long a move will take- this is what he does for a living. He told us 2-3 hours when the move took 7.5 hours- this matters when you’re paying hourly. We took the time to provide a full list of items being moved, with dimensions- so we don’t know why he wasn’t more accurate. We also requested a box for a large screen TV- they brought one that was 10” too small. They broke the TV, however we should have been covered since we purchased the EXTRA coverage on our items.
Buyer beware if you do purchase the additional “insurance” or damage coverage, because when our TV was broken by their movers, it is the manager of Black Tie that determines the value and reimbursement amount of the broken item. This seems to be a conflict of interest, especially since we didn’t agree with his valuation of the TV. However, don’t think the manager will ever take the time to call you- even if you ask multiple times for a call back. He will email you- but will NOT call. We had several other issues: damaged walls and a furniture dolly that was accidentally taken by the crew- that we wanted to discuss with the manager, however, he will not talk to unhappy customers.
We would never recommend Black Tie to anyone. We would have had a better experience if we hired two guys with a random truck (because that’s what they looked like anyway) and probably spent a lot less.

My experience with Black Tie Movers was excellent, from start to finish. The details of the move were communicated well from scheduling up to moving day. Jose and Aaron were organized, professional, courteous and friendly. They took great care with my belongings; shrink wrapped all of my furniture, disassembled and reassembled large pieces with care. These guys did for me what I could not have done for myself, and made for a stress free moving day. Thank you so much!

Keaton and his crew were excellent, hard working, cheerful and a credit to the company. Unfortunately, Ben the sales representative and I underestimated the quantity of belongings and Black Tie was unable to move everything.

Disassembled things that were too heavy for me and reassembled everything properly. A good choice for anyone who has enough sense to realize some things costs more and are worth more than the headaches you’ll get from rinky dinks. I trusted them, fine young men. Take my word for it!!!!
