Blue Palace is a fantastic resort that …

Blue Palace is a fantastic resort that offers all services. This year we stayed in a suite with private, heated pool and it was outstanding. The staff is extremely professional and friendly – all from the bellboy to the receptionist and waiters and cleaning crew – and we felt very well taken care of. The breakfast restaurant is amazing and they have this nice egg cook that makes your omelet just as you want it. We visited all the a’la carte restaurants except the Blue door (the Greek restaurant) – Flame is a great steak house. Remember to dress a bit warm as the room is cooler than the rest of the restaurants. They server fantastic steaks in an informal atmosphere. The Asian restaurant offers sushi and other Asian delicatessen. It’s really good – located around 100 meter from the main building, so order a golf car to take you there. The Italian restaurant at the beach is nice and informal, and the food fast and good. The Blue Door is the Greek restaurant. We didn’t get to eat there, but heard good about it. It is located on the beach, too. The Bar is a fantastic hang out site with the stunning view of Spinalonga. Be there around 1900 to enjoy the change in light. The island is lit Friday to Sunday evenings. Make sure to read the first page of the Bar menu as it describes some of the history of the area and the maritime theme of the hotel with roots back to the Vietnamese occupation time. The Spa offers a variety of treatments, and there is an indoor pool as well as a gym. I was missing a bike in the gym, but everything else was there. There is a tennis court. The hotel offers lots of pools. I lost count of them. They are all heated and nice. The beach is cool decorated with sunbeds and service. There is 24/7 security with a gate. The hotel offers internal transfer services with small, electrical golf cars. They are very cool. There is a small library close to the Asian restaurant. Lots of tv-channels. Excellent Wifi that is free of charge and covers the entire resort. They have a cool elevator going partly sideways to the beach. It is an experience in itself… Water is free of charge, and when we left we were given four bottles to the trip to the airport. The hotel offers transfer services. On the resort but as an independent business is the Plaka Water Sport Team. They offer cool trips in boat and on jet ski as well as transfer to Spanalonga. Be sure to go and see this island and read it’s history. It’s fascinating. It is less busy during the early hours of the day. Most perfect time is 9 AM. Spend around two hours on the island. This resort is the first resort where I regretted I rented a car in advance. There are so many possibilities and options on the hotel that you just stay there and experience it all, and I ended up thinking about what a waste this rental car all the days was as we stayed almost all the time at the hotel. The hotel offers car rental, so next time I’ll order transfer and just rent a car when needed or take a taxi. There is an ATM at the hotel.
