Inter Cockroach Palace Blue Sea Hotel

We stayed at the Interpalace Blue Sea Hotel in Puerto De La Cruz in December 2023 and had a terrible experience.
On the second night we were woken by cockroaches in the bathroom and under the bed. I tried to call reception on the phone which did NOT work. So I had to go in the reception at 5am. The night porter was inexperienced and not sure how to resolve the issue.
The receptionist was uninterested and said there are many cockroaches in Puerto De la Cruz - so we should get used to them!
After speaking to manager José we were moved to the fourth floor to avoid more cockroaches.
The new room stank of cigarettes and the sheets had not been changed since the last occupants.
I found the staff in the cafeteria to be aggressive and rude to us
My wife was rudely spoken to by Alicia the waitress, causing offence and embarrassment, instead of apologising she continued talking loudly making my wife more embarrassed.
Alicia’s displayed a lack of training, professionalism, and lack of education. She hasn’t learned how to communicate politely when approaching customers. ‘Excuse me and Would you mind’ are not part of her vocabulary - for example,
during our breakfast Alicia pushed past our table to close a curtain without saying anything. She has no concept of respect for customer’s space or privacy.
Other customers complained to us about the lack of variety in the restaurant with the same food being dished out every breakfast, with hot food being served COLD.They had to heat their food up in a microwave.
Some customers said to us, they’re going to eat outside, even when they’ve got the meal included in the hotel.

We’ve been in 4 star hotels in Italy, and France and they are far better, run with a higher standard of hygiene, and professional staff. Every summer we stay in hotel in Mallorca 3 stars hotel! its breakfast is amazing, with a variety of options every day.

I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel at any cost.
We would recommend staying elsewhere!

You get what you pay for

I guess you get what you pay for - we paid about £900 for small studio apartment - 7 nights inc flight (Ryan Air) & transfer (great transfer company) (then plus €90 for upgrade).

As we arrived into our hotel studio there was a distinct smell of mould and damp. We turned the air conditioning on as it was quite stuffy, after noticing the unit was leaking water, we then saw that the unit was full of mould.

We reported this to the reception straight away, we were told the room was just painted yesterday. They stated it could be fixed in 5 minutes.
Regardless whether it has been painted the mould could not have been caused overnight, as this looked quite thick and an extremely strong smell.

We were told to come back in the morning to see if there are any other rooms available, which we did. Arrived at the reception desk at 8am to be told the same thing; that the room will be cleaned and we will have to stay there. I asked if it is possible to change rooms or to be upgraded if no studios were available. We were offered an apartment room which was an extra €15 euros per night. Regrettably we paid this. The total cost was €90.

As someone who has lived in a house with mould before, I can undeniably state it is not solved in 5 minutes. With the horrendous smell of the mould when first entering the studio on our first night, it was definitely not created overnight.

In terms of the apartment we received, I do agree with what we initially paid for the holiday, (even though it was FALSELY advertised as a 4-star hotel, when in fact it is more like a 3-star), the state of rooms and hotel reflects the price paid.

I would like to say however, we did enjoy our holiday, as we decided to try look at the positives rather than the negatives (and there are a few to mention).

Negatives
1. All of the taps were thick with limescale (which I would assume is from the salt water coming out of the taps).
2. There were cracks and damages all over the furniture, bath tub and floor.
3. The fridge was precariously positioned on top of something.
4. The toilet seat was cracked making it difficult to sit on as it stuck into the skin when sat on. And moved every-time sat on.
5. The sun beds had seen better days (on the balcony and around the pool). A lot of them looked extremely dirty and most sagged in the middle.
6. The pools edges were a bit dirty and some of the drains were broken.

Some of the positives were:

1. The beds were very comfy.
2. We could use the bed type sun beds for €20 per day which I thought was reasonable.
3. The staff; cleaners and reception staff were friendly.
4. The apartment overlooked the pool.
5. The grounds of the hotel were pretty.
6. It had some good facilities: 3 pools, tennis court, football court; And the entertainment team were good and lots to choose from (although the entertainment at night started a bit late for our liking; Most started at 9:45pm /10pm).
7. Even though the edges of the pool were dirty the water was clean.
8. The hotel was close to the resort shop, restaurants and two beaches.

Again, just to reiterate, we did enjoy our holiday and made the most of it. Cala D’or is a lovely place, the beaches are pretty easy to get to from the hotel. However, unfortunately it just did not start the best and I do not feel the hotel management dealt with the situation appropriately.

It’s a fine hotel if you’re not too fussy and want a cheap holiday in the sun.

Bluesea.Costa Bastian

Bluesea.Costa Bastian, Lanzarote
7 days All inclusive.
Clean but dated rooms with air conditioning. Bed comfortable.
Battle for the sunbeds in the morning. Not enough sunbeds for guests, standing around for the beds to be unchained.
All inclusive. Food plentiful but not a great selection. Fairly basic.
Local drinks and sports, upgrades to premium very expensive €35 per day.
30mins walk to Costa Teguise town and beach. €5 in a taxi.
Overall disappointed. Definitely, room to improve.

Good hotel

Me and my partner got the bed and breakfast with sea a view, we had a good time with this hotel, the room was always clean. The sea view was amazing and listening to ocean while sleeping was great, the food we loved but not sure if it is everyone taste buds as the bacon and sausage kinda tasted like spam, the eggs were great all 3 kinds of eggs were available. I guess the fact I have to pay 20 euro for kettle deposit was weird but we got the money back. Was not a huge fan of the hand band, hopefully in the future that can be changed but other than that it was a good hotel.

Gran Cervantes Torremolinos

Gran Cervantes, Torremolinos

We visited Gran Cervantes 5 years ago roughly. By that time, we would have given 10 stars.
However standards have fallen immensely. Key points are:

1. The food sadly is uninterresting. No change in menu, all bland and tasteless, sloppy fries, overcooked meat and no interest in cooking from the chef's. This is a let down for us, because it used to be really good. This time, even with all-inclusive, we went more to the city to get meals, than the hotel.

2. The restaurant, couldnt arrange a table for our whole family. When we last visited Gran Cervantes, it was no problem to reserve a table for us each dinner, since we were alot travelling together.
This time around, we were again 18 people travelling together. However, even when there are always empty tables around, it was not possible for us, to all sit at the same table. This is a lack from the waiters. The first night we even paid a waiter 20 Euro under the table, for him to arrange it, however we never saw him on work again, and we did not get as noted.

3. Last time we visited you were allowed to play ball in the pool. This time we couldnt do it, and that is no biggie, it doesnt matter.
*HOWEVER* when the lifeguard told my 2 year old nephew, that he couldnt bring a Bathing Ring to the kids pool?? That small amount of water, seperated from the other pool, but the kid couldnt bring his bathing ring in there? I dont get the point in having a kids pool then.

If we ever return to Gran Cervantes, hopefully the standards will go up to being a 4-star hotel again. But from the looks of this visit, we wont we coming back. Sadly, since it used to be really really good.

Worst hotel ever

Worst hotel ever. HORRIBLE experience. They checked us in a room that reeked of excrements. They had piping issues and yet booked people to stay for a holiday. We had to take the beds almost on the balcony to be able to breathe overnight. We asked for another room and they said they were fully booked. We had to leave and they promised a refund that was never made.

Great hotels and apartments.

Have stayed in a few blue sea hotels and have nothing bad to say about any of them. Very comfortable and clean, great pool and lounging areas. You get what you pay for. Apartment rooms are big as are balconies and terraces.
