Hi Hakki,

I’m genuinely disappointed to see your review, especially considering the level of support we provided — well outside of normal working hours.

You contacted us at 11pm on Tuesday after your college let you down with your portfolio. Despite the late hour, we asked the relevant questions and exchanged emails with you until midnight to help you get back on track.

The following day, you said you needed to check a few things with your college. After doing so, you reached out to us again — via email and WhatsApp. We responded to your WhatsApp message within 20 minutes, but it’s still showing as unread.

We’ve done everything possible to assist you quickly and professionally — even out of hours — yet you’ve now left a negative review. I also noticed you’ve left a similar review for your college, which suggests you’re understandably frustrated with the overall process. However, it’s disappointing that our business has been criticised for a lack of response when we’ve clearly responded promptly and repeatedly.

At Boilermedic, we pride ourselves on helping students like yourself, and in this case, we feel we’ve gone above and beyond.

We wish you the best in completing your portfolio.

Kind regards,
Jon Dansey

Couldn't do a really simple job and gave what feels like a dodgy quote

We bought boiler Medic in to fit a new thermostat, and also install the valves for three radiator thermostats. Initial communication was positive they asked the right questions which meant we were able to give them a load of information about what needed to be done the quote seemed reasonable and sensible and everything up until the day they turned up went smoothly.

Unfortunately when they arrived things to a substantial turn for the worst.

Guy who arrived clearly hadn't been terribly well briefed compared to what we told the office.

Then when it came to fitting the valves for the radiator thermostats first claimed he couldn't do it, then changes mind and instead said it would take two hours per radiator (which would be a 7 to 8 hour job noting they'd originally quoted the whole thing would take about...), Note when we called up to complain and spoke to what seems to have been his supervisor, they instead suggested he just wanted to get home as it was an afternoon appointment (which was their choice we've been flexible when they'd come in), a couple more phone calls later it does sound like he inflated the quote by at least three hours (they said over the phone sometimes radiators could take much as an hour which is still substantially more than initially quoted but of course half what the plumber claimed) . Unclear if this was just an excuse to get away in the evening or if they were trying to take advantage of assumed lack of knowledge to get an inflated fee for the work.

I then said if they can't get the bulk of the job done they should just fit the thermostat as that was something simple that could be done without having to play around with the radiators themselves but then it turned out they were unable to do that as they didn't have the proper parts/equipment (needed a cable), we have sent them a link showing exactly what we had so they had all the information to make sure they'd come properly equipped to fit it.

I did feel for the poor plumber who actually seem like a perfectly pleasant guy who generally knew his stuff it just seemed he clearly hadn't been supported by the organisation with the right kit or briefing to actually do any of the work, and given in this case I was asking them to do something that is only really a step or two above DIY I'd certainly be cautious about letting them do anything more sensitive/technical with a boiler, the experience with the rapidly changing quote for the simple piece of work and particularly their accepting over the phone that what we've been told wasn't accurate also means I'd be very cautious about any quotations you get from them particularly if you don't know a huge amount about the work that needs doing.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to write your detailed review. We took on a job from you over the phone with an estimated job duration and with very basic details. The job had changed from your description because when we arrived some of the things you asked us to do were not possible and against regulations. We then gave you an accurate quote based on what you actually needed. The quote changed from 2-3 hours to 4-5 hours and not 7-8 hours which you have stated. We also did not charge a call out fee and provided you expert advice free of charge and explained why you couldn’t do what you originally wanted to do which also saved you money on materials. I’m sorry if you felt that you had to leave us a bad review based on the service we provided even though no work had been carried out at your property.
