Oustanding

I've been lifting regularly for four years and have spent several hundred hours researching the most effective way to build muscle.

B2B (along with their intermediate site, Outlift) have been by far the most helpful resource for me.

Their articles and programmes (I have several) are clearly presented and well researched. They update their articles regularly whenever a new research paper comes out - always a good sign. And Shane is always there in the comments section to explain further if required.

To top it all off, the appropriately named Sunny is always on hand to provide near-instant customer service.

It's a cliche, but I'd give six stars if I could. Well done to the team and please keep up the good work!

Long and Lanky to Strong and Capable

I've been a loyal follower of Bony to Beastly for many many years. 15 years ago I was a 6'2, 145lb poster child for this program. I've read pretty much every article and watched the videos they've put out on the YouTube channel over the years. I've worked my way through many of the free programs I could get my hands on, including Starting Strength, 5/3/1, Mad Cow 5x5, Stronglifts, CrossFit main site programming, and more. Since starting my strength training / fitness journey I've made a lot of progress in both my lifting numbers and physique, and now hover around 200-210lbs @ 12-18% bodyfat depending on whether I'm on a cutting or bulking cycle.

It wasn't until about a year ago that I decided to bite the bullet and buy the intermediate Outlift program, not just because I wanted to try something new, but mostly because I wanted to support B2B for all of the awesome free information I've gleaned over the years. Shane and Marco have developed a great program and eBook that are WELL worth the one time investment. They have done tons of research and provided such great evidence-based resources. They are super responsive to emails if you ever have any questions or concerns. This is a great group of guys running this website / community and I am beyond grateful for how they have contributed to my physical and intellectual development when it comes to training. Highly recommended!

purchase/refund proceedure

I just want to understand the purchase and refund process.

I purchased the 12 months payment. The transaction was quick and easy. However, i do not believe i received a receipt.

Now that i want a refund (good for 90 days) I am still waiting on at the least a confirmation email that my return is processing.

Content as lean as an ectomorph

EDIT: I have changed my rating to 3 stars from 2 after finding out that you do have access to the demo videos after the membership expires. Cheers to the B2B guys.

I finished the program with all phases attendant. At 6’2” I added 40 pounds of mass (mostly fat) across 11 months. Throughout the pandemic I’ve lost capacious sacks of fat, so I’m back to square one. I'm writing this review as the gym opens tomorrow.

They have six 3-day phases of programmed exercises. These exercises are sometimes ones you don’t see others doing, like farmer carries, close grip push-ups, and goblet squats. On the boards they introduce neck curls and extensions, which absolutely no one does so kudos to them. Much more often there are staple compound exercises like deadlifts and bench presses. The exercises are rigid, the diets are flexible suggestions at best. Of course, a diet is the cornerstone of any bodybuilding routine…

You get 12 months access to the message board from which I didn't get much value. The guys were all very nice. They're smart and well-behaved and don't do the derogatory fratboy humor you see on other boards. They're mostly well-compensated tech workers as expected from online guys who have $200 to spare for an online program. They’re also tall, but they had some short guys too which was a great albeit uncommon feat.

There is one (well, more than one) big problem I have B2B. After your membership expires, you no longer have access to the (cumbersome and poorly edited) demonstration videos, which are inflexibly a part of the message board. But you can renew access to this mild-mannered info worker club for $99. Ninety-nine. Pretty much a hundred bucks. That's a preposterous price to pay for the privilege of posting on a message board. But hey, at least no one will call you the f-word (you choose).

I just don't see why you can't use something like Reddit leangains or 5x5 or something free on YT or a even a paid program for the fraction of the price the B2B guys peddle. Building muscle is so simple, even the lunkheads at your gym can figure it out. And of course, no one except a real life trainer can hold your hand. Only you can do that, not art-designers-turned-bodybuilders. YOU will have to put in the work and overcome inevitable plateaus and frustrations and body pain. No one online, no eBook can really help you here.

It takes a peculiar person to pay more than say $50 for a program like this. You’re not getting a real book; rather, you’re getting an eBook that cost these guys very little to distribute, no doubt offset many times over by the all-around high prices. These guys are excellent at marketing (partly courtesy of world-class charlatan Ramit Sethi) but between the outrageously priced forum membership, digital rather than physical book ($197!!!), and lack of rigid diet advice you don’t have a product worth more than $50.

Cheers.

Hey Asim, thank you for writing such a thoughtful review.

Addressing your biggest problem first, about needing to pay $99 to access the training videos, that's not quite right. You can access them forever for free, it's just you watch them outside of the member community I've emailed you the links to the video playlists. No membership required. (And we totally agree with you. It'd be bogus to pay for a premium program and then lose access to essential parts of it.)

Regarding gaining too much fat, I'm really sorry to hear that, man. I know how frustrating that can be. I've gone through bulks like that, too. And then, yeah, if you lose the weight without keeping up the lifting, it's easy to lose the muscle that you did manage to gain. It will spring back when you get back to training (due to muscle memory) but even so, still super frustrating.

I'd be happy to troubleshoot that with you once you're back to lifting. We could figure out why you were gaining so much fat and then come up with a strategy to get your gains coming out leaner. Just shoot us an email :)

As for the rest, yeah, I certainly get the vibe you're talking about, yeah. I mean, my degree is in design, right? With that said, Marco is a fully certified strength coach with a degree in Health Science who formerly worked as the strength and conditioning coach for several college, professional, and Olympic athletes. He's a bonafide strength coach with a ton of in-the-trenches experience. But even there, he later got himself a Fine Arts degree, too, so, yeah, certainly not the typical bro.

Thank you again for the review. Not going to say it felt good reading it… but it's reviews like this that help us make the program better. Thank you.

Best,
Shane

40 years old and glad I found b2B!

40 years old and I'm so glad I found b2B two years ago! I had regularly had back and knee aches and pain and was definitely skinny fat in July of 2018 before I started b2B. Those issues motivated me to get healthy again and why not get bigger and stronger in the process? So glad I started reading their well written, well researched articles. Tried the program out, since it was money back guaranteed - what did I have to lose? Well I can tell you, it's changed my life! I have learned so much and there is far more I've yet to learn. Weightlifting has become a regular part of my life the last two years. I feel better, I eat healthier, and heck I even learned how to rock 6 pack abs! There's a great amount of help / advice / how-to on the forum and the programs can work for anyone from novice to expert lifter. And it almost goes without saying, but I love how it's geared toward the ectomorph. And it works!!!

b2B changed my life. Buy it.

There are few people on the planet as knowledgable, supportive and inspiring as the b2B team. The program itself if well worth the money, and you get so much more than just a program; you get a responsive and dedicated staff, a supportive welcoming community, a wealth of knowledge established on hard-core research and evidence based study. I can say without a doubt that only a few months in their program changed my life for the better, and the things I've learned in their program have a had a ripple effect throughout all aspects of my life, instilling me with the confidence to take control of things I previously dreaded and to actively shape my life through determination and working not just hard, but smart. As for results. I put on 20 lbs of lean muscle in 20 weeks. Not only have they helped me do what I previously thought was impossible, what I had tried and failed at many times before, they helped me do what other people told me I couldn't do. I remember telling someone, prior to joining b2B that I wanted to put on 20 lbs of muscle. They said, "you don't have the frame for it". Well, now I have 50 inch shoulders thanks to b2B.

Oh and I gained that 20 lbs while working around a grade 3 ankle sprain for the entirety of the program, thanks to the coaches and the support of people in the member forums.

I wish I'd bought it 5 years ago when I first saw it.

This is the Real Deal

Simple, yet incredibly effective way to gain muscles for slim people. For those who have never really lifted weights before, the program instructions are very easy to follow. What's best, is that it's completely designed with slim people in mind. I've done p90x and other programs and have only seen mild results. With Bony to Beastly, I've gained 20lbs, and look and feel strong -- with only three workouts a week. With membership, you gain access to a very active community, and the owners are very attentive to your questions. I also enjoy reading the articles about muscle building that are from the perspectives of people with fast metabolisms like myself. Definitely worth it!

I thought it would be the same information found all over the internet. I was WRONG!

As the title says, I thought it would be the same information found all over the internet. I was WRONG!

I tried other well-known programs including starting strength, strong lifts and lean gains bulking method, but none gave me the rapid results that I'm seeing with bony to Beastly. Only after going through the program myself do I understand the value provided by a program specifically for Skinny People! As it's aimed directly at skinny people, the nuances provided in the program really do make a difference. The reasoning behind why you do what you do in the program is explained thoroughly in their e-book and if you ever have any questions you can ask in the community and the founders give their own personal feedback, which is rare nowadays.

I've personally really benefitted from the recipes book. I can EASILY eat 3,000+ calories now whereas before I'd be absolutely stuffing myself for the WHOLE DAY in order to get in about 3,300 calories (needless to say my stomach did not appreciate this).

Don't underestimate the thorough research put into the development of this program. There's a refund policy if you're worried about not receiving the results you imagined, so take the leap and get ready to be amazed.

Gained 29lbs in 25 Weeks

I just finished the 25 week main program a few days ago. As a 28 year old man, I started at 113lbs, (yes, I looked like a kid), and finished at 142lbs. Now I find myself reflecting and wondering what made me successful in gaining weight for the first time in my life with this program when I didn't have any growth with 5 other programs (P90X, Fit for Life, etc).

Well, what would the perfect exercise program look like? It would have information based on up-to-date, scientific studies. And its foundation would be based on helping people with all body types reach their fitness goals, while offering some insight into what body shapes are scientifically healthiest and most attractive.

So in order to help people with all body types, it would have to include information on how to gain muscle (even with a small appetite like mine), how to lose fat (like I did after I accidentally gained 5 pounds of fat on vacation), how to get stubborn muscle groups to grow (like how I got my arms to grow when my chest was being greedy), and how to exercise safely to prevent injury, or how to work around an existing injury safely (like how the guys in the forum recommended warmups exercises designed to fix my posture). But most importantly it would have ways of helping someone stick with the program to reach his or her goals (like knowing that people in the forum want to see me succeed, and like how it has strength and athleticism challenges that I've been doing to set personal records). So needless to say Bony 2 Beastly has all of that covered.

I started this program as a last resort…

I started this program as a last resort after 6 months of trying random online workout routines and seeing minimal results. I was the typical skinny guy and it was just re-enforced by the numerous amount of people telling me I'm skinny.

Here I am now 7 months after I started and the same people who called me skinny almost always have their faces drop when I meet them.

If I'm being honest, this was not easy for me. Shunning away everything and everyone else was pretty hard. Getting rid of all constant habit of eating junk food or not eating was HARD. Protein shakes taste disgusting. BUT it's all worth it in the end. This program is FOOL PROOF. Literally, just follow the guide and there is no way you'll fail. If I can do it then anybody can. And this is coming from somebody who was hopeless for a long time. In fact, I was contemplating quitting the pursuit of my dream physique after seeing minimal gains and lots of effort before I joined this community.

Now, I feel like I am regarded as your conventionally buff boy. And for someone like me who was just a twig less than 7 months ago, it's a strange and wonderful feeling. Once you're in the process, you'll love it and you'll get addicted to it.

Apart from a good physique I've developed numerous other good habits like discipline, self control, sticking to a routine, and healthy living. So I can't thank the dudes who made this program enough.

If you're really looking to change your life and make the most of this program, follow the guide to the dot.

This will work for you (Yes! You!)

The internet is full of fitness advice. Some is good, some is definitely not. And the vast majority of it is aimed at people wanting to *lose* weight. If you've already got a skinny build, that stuff won't help you. Then it's compounded by lifting routines that look like they would be great if you had stellar genetics or some supplements that would get you banned from the Olympics.

BonyToBeastly is different. It's an honest, simple lifting program designed for skinny (or skinny fat) guys. It has clear instructions for every exercise, and carefully planned progressions to help you get from where you are to where you want to be. And it's not just lifting, it's the whole package -- rest, nutrition, getting extra calories when you need them -- everything is covered to ensure your success.

I've tried many lifting programs over the years to try to improve my body, and *nothing* has given me the results that BonyToBeastly has. I don't have to overthink any of it -- it's all laid out for me, I just followed the plan and it worked. I'm almost 55 years old and in the best shape of my life, thanks to this program. I wish I had found it 30 years ago.

It worked for me. It *will* work for you.

Bony to Beastly is Effective

Bony to Beastly or b2B is nothing short of an incredible exercise and nutrition program. If you follow it strictly in and out of the gym you will see noticeable results quickly.
I have gained muscle on this program as well as cut fat and it is very manageable.
The workouts do not consume your week and all it takes is a solid hour and a half, 3 days a week of hard work in order to achieve your goals.
If you are looking to transform your physique without spending the majority of each week in the gym then this is the program for you.

Bony to Beastly is an awesome program

Bony to Beastly (b2B) is a program, that is not simply a muscle building program, it's a program to live a healthier life as a skinny guy.

B2B is desgned to help you build solid muscle, even if you thought you will never be able to. I gained 10 kg of lean muscle mass in 5 months.
B2B contains a good workout program (the main program is 5 phases of 5 weeks each, and there are some good additional phases).
But you will also learn a lot about nutrition and what to eat, if you want to build muscle in a healthy way. You will learn how to calculate your calorie need based on you body fat percentage, and what to eat to reach that calorie need. Doing that, b2B fixes a big problem of skinny guys: The usual way to calculate calorie needs is made for average guys with a lot more body fat. But a skinny guy has a higher calorie need, because he's so lean and his metabolism is so fast.
But b2B is not that kind of program, that says: "Follow our advice 200% or you will fail." It's a good programme and it works, but it gives you enough freedom to enjoy your life and be relaxed about working out and eating things you like.
Furthermore b2B helps you also to fix your posture. I could improve my posture a lot with b2B, which means, that I look more fit and athletic just by standig upright.
So, in my oppinion, b2B is an excellent program, that helps you to gain muscle as a skinny guy, to eat healthy and to improve the whole way you are using your body in your day to day life.

Fantastic

If you're a skinny guy looking to gain some muscle, in a supportive and science-backed community, don't look any further.

I tried and tried to build muscle by doing my own routines that I found online. Some worked, most didn't and with all of them I hit a wall.

After joining b2B I've gained over 20 lbs, and did it with a ton of support from a great community.

Best bulking program for skinny dudes, bar none!

Bony to Beastly is just what it sounds like and more. Their core product is an evidence-based, science-backed, intelligent program that will help any "hard gainer", "ectomorph", skinny guy understand how to get bigger. Specifically, how to put on at least 20 pounds of lean muscle in 5 months. The founders, coaches and community are the most supportive, positive individuals I've ever worked with, and help troubleshoot any difficulties along the way. Let me do something I'd tried to do many times with no success, putting on, in my case, 22 pounds of lean muscle in 5 months, as a 6'4" 37 year-old. I finally feel like I'm filling out my frame and living up to my potential.

I can't recommend this company and program enough.

As good as it sounds

I really did not believe that I would be able to gain muscle without buying expensive supplements or equipment, but after going through the Bony to beastly main program it is clear that all that is needed is to have the appropriate training and nutrition principles.

This program gives that and so much more; the members community is full of supportive and helpful advice, made by others who are completing or have completed the program, as well as the coaches who will answer any question ranging from deadlift form checks to life advice.

I thought it was pretty bold to claim that someone can gain 20 to 30 pounds of muscle in 90 days, but after completing the program, I not only achieved that, but I found that the best thing that I received from the program was the knowledge that it is not about looking like someone else or gaining muscle just becomes it is cool, but about becoming a better person today than I was yesterday.

Thank you, Camilo! I agree. I remember thinking that trying to build muscle was vain or, worse, "trying to become someone that you're not." But then, of course, you build some muscle and you realize you're the same person, just bigger, stronger, and in better shape.

It's always good life advice to deadlift with good form ;)

Bony to Beastly gave me my body back

Bony to Beastly is a fantastic workout program for skinny guys like me. I was 46 years old, 6'5" and 160 pounds when I started. A year later I weighed 195 lbs and could squat, deadlift and benchpress more than I ever had in my previous 45 years. If you're like me and struggled your whole life with stomach problems, back pain and bad posture, Bony to Beastly is your oasis in the desert of life as an ectomorph. Simply put, I owe my now pain free existence to this awesome resource. OK, enough writing, I have to get back to the gym.
