No complaints from us
We've been using Booker's for quite a number of years now including Northampton, Leicester, Peterborough, Kings Lynn & Sheffield. Consistent products at consistent prices and generally helpful staff
I'd like to give zero stars
I'd like to give zero stars, but hey ho. Anyway I've been using booker since 2006 and monday when my order went in.. I thought it'd be delivered as usual Wednesday. Well, nothing came, they took my order but not my money so I thought something went wrong. I rang my store (Harrogate) to find out. A few hours later someone rang me back to say they weren't coming to me anymore. 😳. No explanation, just not coming anymore, although I always hit the min order, paid before delivery and was flexible if they needed to change my day. Us small businesses have kept wholesalers, like bookers, going throughout covid +. I've been using them for 16 years, consistently, and this is how you pay us back. Absolutely raging over this company.
I rang the head office this afternoon to tell them what happened.... They said they will look into it and get back to me. I don't think it's going to help me get deliveries back though. I suppose I'll just get a flimsy explanation 🙁
Update.... Just had a call from area manager... Even if they delivered next door they won't come to me because I'm retail not catering 😂 the business manager needs sacking
All you small businesses that Booker have used and abused... Try Pioneer they are GREAT.
Stupid company
Stupid company. Closed my account without any notification. Explaining it hasn't been used for a while despite we had a lockdown and restriction. Will never use them again you just lost a customer. Don't want to swear but I'm lost for normal words.
Wholesaler hijack??
It would seem that since Tesco took Bookers over they have an agenda that a lot of convenience retailers are not aware of - charges of £35 per delivery plus a minimum order level of £1000 excluding tobacco and Vat as opposed to a minimum order of £100 if you are hospitality or a cafe seems pretty random until you realise Tesco have an ulterior motive in terms of impacting severely on smaller convenience stores - erradication of the opposition. Maybe the Competitiion and Mergers Authority needs to have a good hard look at Bookers results and it's indebtedness to Tesco since aquisition by Tesco and a good hard look at their marketplace practices.
Deletion of all chilled ready meals - something that convenience stores supply, that are relied upon by consumers, would also seem to be a recently adopted strategy.
Waste of space of a company
Had a company membership through makro which booker took over. Some years done the line now covid kicks in and I was using a different branch which has now been closed down and only found out by chance after having to be cautious with covid due to health issues. Tried to go back to the original branch which is mile out of my wat to be told card has been cancelled. Contacted customer services head office basically told tough hasn't been used in a year apply for a new one or sling your hook. Complete waste of time needs shut down for their total disregard for customer safety during difficult times

I have no issues with the shop or the staff who work on the shopfloor. I have a problem with the development manager, Anish who works in Bradford and Leeds Bookers. He is abusing his position using Bookers name to make fraudulent money for himself. He is a bully. He will take finance out on your name with a third party without your consent. Please be careful.
That bloody scanner - AGAIN!
Once again, I find that scanning items yourself just isn't worth the effort. Not only will it take YOU longer to do your shop, this time, it seems that the system logged me out some time after I had logged in. Scanning items as I go effectively doubles the time I'm in the store as many items need several scanning attempts because the scanner won't read the barcode first time. Despite all my care to ensure that everything was fully accounted for, once again at the checkout, I discover that it's going to be a 100% check because, having been "logged out", the scanner can't be read by "the system". You just couldn't make this stuff up and I was a gnats whisker from just walking away and abandoning over £500 of unpaid goods for someone else to put back on the shelves. If I EVER go back to Booker, I WILL NOT BE USING THAT SCANNER and I strongly recommend others do the same.

Bought some laser printer paper from them . (NU: brand 500 sheets.) Absolute crap! Just jams the printer every time as the paper weight (non written on the box label) is too 'thin'. Will not buy office supples from there again. Run by Tesco now I'm led to beleive....no surprise. Gone down the pan since they took over. Seems to be stocked with stuff for fast food and bars.
Used the Hastings c&c for 10 years
Used the Hastings c&c for 10 years. Never had a problem except the manager questioned me once about not wearing a mask. He was rude and would have been on his back outside. The staff are friendly and polite. Apart from that all good. Looking at the reviews, it seems many people don't understand the safety issue with children. it's not a shop, it's a warehouse with forklifts. Dangerous for children.
The property is clean and tidy as are the newly refurbished toilets.

21.12.21 9.23am a male did some sort of security check (which is absolutely fine) but he was so rude didn't explain what he was doing I only popped in for a few cartons of milk he made me feel like a criminal instead of a valued customer! He wants to maybe work on his customer service and explain what he is doing first even the poor lady on till who had already scanned my items was upset and confused to the way he acted. Not very friendly around Xmas time I will go tesco next time and pay the extra
Bookers in Salisbury wiltshire..
Bookers in Salisbury wiltshire..
Recently had a interview with the manager, being told ‘you will be called or emailed if successful’ which is a LIE!
Wasn’t contacted with the outcome of the interview. Then had a email from bookers - the manager’s name at the end of it. Saying ‘ due to no-response to your application we have to put you as unsuccessful’
I will not be attending this store in the future which is a shame, as over the years my family have used this store.

Absolutely rude and disgusting…
Absolutely rude and disgusting receptionist at Bath Bookers told me off in rude manner about my bag. I've been shopping at this branch for years and suddenly apparently they've changed a policy, which has never existed as I've been shopping several times with my bag. I feel discriminated and will process official complaint against the manager and the receptionist.

Irvine and Paisley stores horrible staff.
Ended up with Booker when Makro closed.
Use to go to Irvine found the staff so unhelpful and rude.
Changed to Paisley no better.
We were also turned away on 2 occasions because we are not in catering, after a half hour drive to get there.
Staff members seamed to enjoy this, smug as smug can be.
Disgraceful and embarrassing service
I thought it was just booker Harrogate that was shockingly poor but after looking at this page, it's clear there are some major management issues... 1.7 on Trust Pilot?! With no noticable efforts to improve anything.
My 27 year old autistic son was…
My 27 year old autistic son was verbally attacked by Faye, the disgusting receptionist at Bookers Luton.
He waited behind a customer and never spoke. For no reason she shouted "I'm serving a customer and you can't sign for it" (meaning spend and save). She had no reason to shout and demand he couldn't sign a piece of paper. He has a disability and was clearly targeted for that reason. He never spoke or said a word but distressed him so much he crying. When I made a complaint my questions were not answered and it's been dealt with. As a Company they should be appalled by this and even the staff comment how rude she is. It's been dealt with, so basically nothing happened. Beware of this nasty person and avoid at all costs. This Company will never return to this outlet and they lose between £30k-£40k a month. They are not in any way concerned by this persons attitude or the impact it will have on their business. That's the person front of house and nobody is concerned by this behaviour???? Wow, SHOCKING!!!
Disgusting receptionist at Watford branch
The receptionist named Susan I think blondish hair who looked about 70 horrible disgusting women left my 17 year old daughter repeatedly assuming she is 11 when my daughter has health problems making her look skinny and short she also has an eating disorder which got worse after Susan made her insecure my daughter wouldn’t stop crying for days she had a panic attack after she wasn’t allowed in the store. Wouldn’t recommend this store to anyone I know many people who used to use this whole sale to shop for their business after I told them about this incident they were all shocked and they all carry the same opinion on me about how rude this worker was. It would be great if you deal with this situation, Susan if your reading this just because you got no where in life and your stuck working in a wholesale doesn’t make it right to make other people’s life’s miserable too you grumpy old women
Poor customer service
Went to Bookers Tamworth today to purchase 20 cases of still water to donate to the local vaccination centre to keep the nursing staff refreshed while they administer much needed vaccinations to the community.
Unfortunately I was told I could only have a maximum of 10 cases. I spoke to the manager and head office and even after explaining the reason I wanted the 20 cases, I was told I still couldn’t have the 20 cases I required.
What made the situation worse was one of the staff was discussing very loudly my frustration regarding this, which only increased my annoyance.
It wasn’t as if I was taking the last of the stock, I could see at least 200 exact same cases on pallets.
The manager said it would be fine to return to the store again tomorrow to buy the other 10 cases.
I’ve been a customer of this branch for the last 20 years and had many instances like this. The majority of the management are useless and very unhelpful.
On a number of occasions I’ve found a number of items on the shelves which were out of date and they leave it to us customers to point this out.
I will collect my other 10 cases tomorrow and then intend to purchase from another cash and carry in the future.
