Booksy Scam - Fraud
This is the biggest scam to hit the hair industry. To date.
Fraud. Data Breach.
If you are a booksy business Your business is completely at risk because of this company, the app, presets and clearances you cannot adjust.
Your staff have a list of every client name on their personal email date stamped thanks to the notification system that your staff can override when you try to switch it off.
They can screen grab your entire client list without your knowledge.
They can make time reservations at any point whatsoever with zero management clearance. They have total control of what they want from your business on the second level, the default level of security clearance - marked as staffer. This is represented as the recommended level by Booksy.
Basic staffer level one clearance is irritating enough for your staff to leave or have no ability to book clients with anyone other than themselves and it’s so difficult they won’t do that rendering level one a nonsense and forcing you to use level two.
This is undermining all management of your business.
Once your staff have that email date stamped list, All they need to do is find them on Facebook. Leave your company and your clients can be persuaded to follow. If your clients complain of a data breach you as the account owner are liable and Booksy will support that they are clean and you are liable for any data breach. Be very careful
Boost Scam Fraud.
Boost is a system that was brought out to support fledgling business by giving them a leg up - actively marketing the business to attract new customers.
1, who are these new customers & where are they from?
2, what does actively marketing mean?
So the new customers are literally any new customers. Organic or not. Anyone who signs up to Booksy to book with you is a chargeable boost client. The rate you will pay is roughly £7 of £20 for your new organic customer to be able to book in with you using Booksy. Hardly a Boost. More like a Boost in the sense of just stealing money.
The active marketing bit is where any Booksy user who is open to marketing emails (your loyal customers) are encouraged to go elsewhere, when these clients go elsewhere Booksy gets paid so therefore the more disloyal people become and the more they move around the more Booksy gets paid.
They offer a QR code and a link to avoid the fee. Absolute lies. We had the QR printed on business cards and distributed them. New, organic customers walked into our shop with the card asked how it worked and booked in front of us. The had to register and that is where the phrase “new customers” kicks in. Literally anyone who you introduce to the app incurs a cost to you. Boost?
To be clear This company is charging business’s for organically gaining new customers & onboarding them onto a booking app & calling that the boost program.
It is claiming between 25 & 40% plus VAT of any new customer regardless of whether they are organic or whether the customer responded to a Booksy marketing email.
Who is the customer to Booksy. You are paying them for a service. The service is horrific.
They are losing you money, business. And destroy customer confidence due to data breaches & leaving you liable.
Oh - the data on how many clients you have
Guess what. If you don’t cleanse the old non returning customers away from that the data is pointless. It’s a list of people who signed up. Not a list of customers & thanks to the non changeable systems you cannot specify how many people booked in the last X amount of weeks. It’s their numbers not yours.
You are irrelevant - to them, your customers make them money not you.
**Extremely Disappointed with Boo**
**Extremely Disappointed with Boo**
I cannot express how disheartening my experience with Booksy has been. Today, I discovered a severe data protection breach where my account was inexplicably changed to someone else's name. When I reached out for clarification, they had no answers. The way Booksy operates is simply unscrupulous.
One of my biggest frustrations is their lack of communication. If a my card information is outdated, Booksy does not reach out through emails, or in-app messages and if you’re running a busy salon you have hundreds and hundreds of emails for clients booking because Booksy emails you every time there is an appointment. As a business owner relying on this appointment system, I expect better. Instead, if there’s an issue, they simply cut off my account without warning. After 40 years in the hairdressing industry, I can confidently say this is the worst company I've ever worked with.
Moreover, the algorithm they use is deeply problematic. Many may not realize this, but Booksy actively targets my clients by promoting other barbers/Hairdressers who pay for boosted profiles. This means they get a 50% cut from the first appointment the booked through the boost. I have insider information from a former employee that confirms this shady practice. When confronted, Booksy always denies these claims, but the evidence is clear: they prioritize their revenue over the barber shops that rely on their system.
Additionally, numerous clients have told me they tried to book an appointment only to be told I was fully booked when, in fact, I was not. This is a common complaint, and it only serves to drive clients to other businesses that are boosted instead.
There are far better appointment systems available that genuinely value their users. I urge anyone considering Booksy to thoroughly evaluate their services and examine the backend of their operations. While my staff may enjoy using it, they remain unaware of the numerous issues plaguing the system. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere!
My experience with Booksy been amazing
My experience with Booksy been amazing. Recently switched over from square and it offers more service and flexibility than square as a beauty service provider! Boost is also amazing and helps expand clientele.
I enjoy Booksy as a professional
I enjoy Booksy as a professional. It is very user friendly for my clients. I would like to see more benefits from boost. Overall great app for professionals.
Great to boost clientele
Been using Booksy for about 4 years took one year without the app to see the difference. Let it be known this app allowed my business to flourish using the BOOST advertisement. Excellent choice for new entrepreneurs looking to boost clientele.
Love hate
I love Booksey for keeping me organized on my phone. Unfortunately, older customers don’t know how to use it or they don’t want to use it and I have lost customers I have current customers that say that when they go to try to use it, it doesn’t work for them. I have them uninstall it and reinstall it, and it still doesn’t work. So Booksey works for me, but it doesn’t work for customers sometimes. I like that I can block customers who have stood me up. I like that you can take deposits. I like that you can see when the customers last appointments were. I use boost sometimes. But sometimes I have issues with that because sometimes they are referred by a customer and not buy Booksey and I’ve had to fight for my money before. But overall, it’s worth it

I was with this company for about 4 years. They started doing fraud and theft on my account charging me for clients that were mine and being referred from other business associates and booksy was claiming them as boost clients charging it to my account and when they weren’t supposed to and when I contacted them they told me that I had to pay it first although I informed them that they were not in fact boost clients. I am very upset with booksy.

I use Booksy as a barber and I love it!
I use Booksy as a barber and I love it, makes setting appointments very easy for you and your customer. Boost is a great option tho it hasn’t been sending me many clients recently it’s the only thing I hope picks up a little, other than that it’s a great app for anyone who works by appointments!
Great app to organize your…
Great app to organize your appointments, and also great for promoting! Shout out to the Boost button! Definitely recommend 👍
Booksy is great, though I do have 1 concern.
Booksy has been great for me as a barber. I attract new clients, and the app is organized and easy to navigate.
I do have some constructive criticism though. I use the boost feature which puts me in front of new clients, and charges me 30% of my service fee per new client that books with me. It’s a great feature, however there have been many instances where a client was recommended to me, and searched my name of Booksy. Those clients were not recommended by Booksy, but I still have to pay 30% as if Booksy did provide those clients. I’ve disputed many cases, and have been denied.
Sending your direct Booksy link is the ideal way to bypass Booksy boost claiming your clients, but every client does not follow instructions, so they might forget to click the link.
There must be a way to determine weather a client typed my name or shop in the search, or if they were just scrolling.
I digress.
Overall, this is a great app.

I love using this booking app
I love using this booking app! It is very easy to use and offers great marketing options! Not to mention, I love the Boost offer!! The app is very user-friendly!
Been using this for over 4 years now…
I’ve been using Booksy just before the pandemic. Booksy has gotten me a lot of new clients through the boost option. The app is easy to use and keeps me organized, and the window shoppers down to a minimum using the pre-paid booking option, I love the way Booksy promotes me and how I end up in google searches. Definitely worth the price of a haircut a month to have all these great options and features.
I love booksy but I just wish they… had payment plans for boost
I love booksy but I just wish they offered payment plans on boost
Booksy helped me leave the shop…
Booksy has helped me leave the booth rent situation I was in and take charge of my own career . Boost is a LIFE saver for new or transitioning professionals , you got me for life ,
Thanks Booksy

Been overcharged for years
I’ve been with Booksy for years - back when I was working part time alongside a hairdresser (I do beauty) we both paid £17.50 per month.
I left that salon and re joined Booksy as a sole worker and paid £35 a month. Then it changed to £45 a month but since then, I’ve noticed other people have been paying £40 a month so why was I getting charged more than everyone else??
Pretty sure I should be entitled to a refund?
They also take way too much money from the Boost option. One month alone I ended up paying over £80 a month in just fees so definitely was not worth it as some clients only return when they’re going to a special occasion

ALERT!! Don’t use them!
ALERT!!!
Do not use their service! They activate the Boost service automatically and they don’t keep responsibility! I have proven that the clients are mine and still getting nowhere with costumer service! I have emailed and called over 20 times and they still haven’t resolved my issue! I’m asking them to cancel the service and literally nobody coming back with instructions!

Awful costumer service
Awful costumer service.
They are becoming like a scam!!! Do not use them. Without my permission the Boost was turned ON and they insisting they was me.
Have been taking money from my bank for my existing clients!
I’m asking to cancel and they don’t reply to me.
Taz!!!
Respond to my emails I’m sending to Booksy, not here ok!
I’m already explaining myself that, 3 of the clients walked in and I’ve asked them to book through Booksy so they can take the space! So this is clear not from you!
I’m also asking to cancel the services and no body getting back to me!!!!!!!
I can see that is very important for you this review so go and get back to my emails!

Very bad news experience using Booksy for my salon. The app is very buggy and crashes all the time and when you contact support you get no responses. I’ve also been overcharged many times for boost clients and when you complain nothing happens. Avoid Booksy and don’t make the same mistake I did .
