Edit a few hours later:
Lol it gets worse, when you tick off sub-tasks it can't even do that properly, when you look for guides on how best to use the app, there's nothing just generic guides. I don't care about generic guides, I want to know what your app can do for me.
In their guide, videos that have a creepy looking AI woman speaking.
REDACTED
It would be cheaper for student finance to just pay for student subscriptions to ToDoIst or TickTick or something that works and has proven itself in the private sector.
Even worse, their flashcard app is basically useless. You get better service if you just things that are free, ANKI for Flashcards and use an AI of your choice to generate flashcards for you, I tried their AI generation, it's nothing special.
You can't even upload documents, you have to copy and paste text into a text field for it to take an input of notes.
I looked up what they're charging, £269 from DSA for both Luna and Booost. REDACTED I understand as the end user that you aren't paying it, DSA is, but to be perfectly honest, you are scamming yourself at that point because the product is so bad, free alternatives are better.
The booost to-do list doesn't actually work, I don't know how effective the "booost your day" feature is, but it can't be worth it if the to-do list feature doesn't work.
You'll likely have a free Microsoft 365 account as part of your University, just use Outlook and Microsoft To Do.
Oh yeah, I forgot to say, Luna can only do true or false or short answer flashcards.
True or false being the most useless kind of flashcard and short answer being the standard.
You can have more advanced flashcards using add on in ANKI, including image occlusion or filling in a sentence.
Edit the next day:
Oh, and when you select 24-hour time format, it still makes you use AM and PM. They did just send me a video on what their products actually do, which confirms they don't have anything special that justifies their price or their place as a product that the DSA offers to students.

Executive Functioning For Students 5*

I was given the Booost Education app as part of my Disabled Support Allowance package to help with my AuDHD. It’s basically your executive functioning, but in an app, and built with neurodivergent people in mind.
The best bit was the training with Amy from the Booost team. Seriously, it was brilliant. I've never had anyone "get" my brain the way she did. I even messaged her afterward, half-joking, "I kind of want you to follow me around explaining the world to me and me to the world 😂😂😂." The fact that they have people like her on their team tells you everything you need to know about how much they truly care and understand.
The app itself is so useful. It’s not just about managing tasks; it's designed to help you organize your life in a way that actually makes sense to you and helps you prioritise your day and optimise your most productive hours. Plus, the focus on wellbeing is a huge plus. It doesn’t feel like just some fluffy afterthought—it's genuine, tangible support that's quick and easy to access. The ‘Reach Out’ takes away all the thinking necessary when you are struggling the most that can hold you back from reaching out.
I honestly think every neurodivergent student (or anyone with executive dysfunction!) in higher education should use this app. It would make such a difference in managing the chaos, limited structure and external accountability of uni study. They should also definitely make a version for secondary school students!
Don't skip the training. It's not just about learning the app; it's about learning how to adapt it to your work with your own brain, and that's invaluable.

This app is glitchy

This app is glitchy. When it works, it's user-friendly and good. Unfortunately, that's not often. There are too many glitches that make it more difficult than it should be. I've yet again contacted customer support, but as yet, there has been no reply. The desktop top version recently changed to look like the app, too, so there is no longer a monthly calendar view, which I miss. I'd love this to work properly.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of using Booost.

Having read through the emails you’ve sent to our support team, I can see that it’s been a frustrating experience at times and that Booost hasn’t always performed to the level we would want. I want to acknowledge how disruptive that must feel, especially when you’re relying on it to stay organised.

We have been investing a lot of effort into addressing these issues, which led to the release of version 3.0 of Booost on 24th July, followed by a further release on 22nd August, with more improvements due in the coming weeks. These updates are part of a much bigger upgrade programme, which we believe will bring a noticeable difference to stability and usability.

I also wanted to touch on your point about support. Looking at our records, I can see that both our Product Specialist and Head of Product have replied to the messages you’ve sent, typically within 2–3 working days. I fully appreciate that this might feel too long when you’re dealing with technical problems, and we’re actively looking at how we can shorten that time. But I do want to reassure you that your emails have been read and responded to — we care very much about supporting our users and never want anyone to feel ignored.

We’d love to hear if the more recent updates have improved things for you, and if there are particular issues that still persist. Your feedback helps us prioritise where to focus our efforts, so please do keep sharing it with us.

Thank you again for your patience and honesty — it makes a real difference in helping us improve Booost.

Best regards,
Tim
