Breville Smart oven air fryer: Faulty unit & faulty advertising!

Purchased a Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro on 1/1926. I set up the oven and used according to the manufacturer specifications, or so I thought. Approx 3-4 weeks after setting up, the LCD screen malfunctioned, causing the oven to be inoperable. I unplugged the oven & re-plugged 1 day later & it worked. I continued to use the oven for another few weeks and the same issue occurred. I contacted Breville who gave me a case and suggested it could be overheating and suggested plugging it into a dedicated power outlet after which, it blew a circuit in my kitchen. It turns out, a separate circuit (not just separate outlet) is needed for this item. This info is not given to customers who are purchasing the item. I spoke with a Breville supervisor, today who said their only options are repair or replacement and if I wanted a refund, I should contact the seller, Amazon. I told her that I have done so and spoken with 6 different Amazon specialists who tell me there’s nothing they can do as it is outside their return window of 30 days and I should contact the manufacturer. This back and forth went on multiple times who eventually said I should get them both (Breville support & Amazon support) on the line. I have tried 4 calls to connect the two and each time I’m placed in a cue with Breville saying my wait time is 4-5 minutes and I will receive a call back. No call ever comes. I cannot contact their support team to connect them with Amazon. There is no resolution here and I’m getting the run around. It seems that the requirements of operating this item should be disclosed before purchase to save consumers the trouble of finding out later that a typical kitchen set up (without employing an electrician), is not sufficient to operate this unit. This actual unit appears to be a safety hazard (intermittently operable lcd screen due to malfunction and possible overheating) and I have put both companies on notice.
The only reason for 2 stars is they called back (once) but neglected to after subsequent calls.

I had an issue with our oven and Customer Service was amazing. Very professional, helped process the warranty and made sure that I was fully aware of everything they were doing and what I needed to do. It was seamless and I am very thankful!

The quartz elements saga continues (I’m asking for it at this point I guess)

This is my second review for the continuation of an endless saga with Breville (see my first re injuries et al). After first telling me, and, responding to a previous review that they would pick up- then notified me they couldn’t possibly arrange for pick up of their own damaged items not even for a person with disability/mobility issues. I then had to arrange transportation, help, and disposal costs to return and dispose of two very heavy ovens again at my FURTHER expense and extensive time.

I then notified Breville of this and I asked questions about a third purchase from them for the same oven (I guess I’m the fool at this point right?); CS completely ignored my questions about the product and started going on about how they responded to previous emails- the talking in circles became clear to me I’m speaking with bots and not actual humans.

Customer lost. I’m still waiting for Amazon to return $540, they keep claiming it’s a merchant(Breville) issue. So I’m out $540 plus clean up costs, plus first aid costs, plus transportation and disposal all for Breville’s failure to properly mark that the box contains very fragile items.

Absolute insanity for a company of this calibre.

I’m sure Breville CS will respond to this claiming they’ll do something to help and email me something nonsensical lol. Cheers!

Serious Safety Concern & Dismissive Customer Service

Very disappointed with Breville’s customer service. My oven almost burned my house down, which is a serious safety concern. Their response was to ask me to ship the oven to them so they could tell me how much it would cost to repair. Fix an oven that almost burned my house down? No thank you. Extremely dismissive and unwilling to properly address a potentially dangerous product.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We regret to hear about the concerns with your oven. Please note that once a unit is outside the 2-year warranty period, the support options we can provide are limited. We apologize that the available resolution was not what you expected.

I sent the Breville Toaster Oven to be repaired. I packed it in the box you sent. I waited patiently for its return. It arrived today with the door glass completely smashed.

Extremely pleasant and helpful

The assistant (Sarino) was extremely patient and kind, and was very careful to capture my complaints and issues. She also gave very clear instructions and explanations on testing the oven. She then explained the process of returning and repairing the oven, along with an expected timeline. Later, she called to say Breville would replace the oven and again explained the details clearly.

Not the right recipe

Not the right recipe. I’m looking for one that was removed from your Breville smart oven app. It was sheet pan shrimp scampi.

Poor business practice

The company should have sent a new replacement oven as my oven was dangerously faulty . After putting a hold on my credit card .they se t a refurbished oven instead of a new one . I am struggling to get the company to honestly replace my oven immediately or refund as I don't have an oven to use immediately . I trusted Breville . Now I am Stuck .

I Have an older Breville toaster oven

I Have an older Breville toaster oven that has been presenting power issues. I brought this to the attention of the Breville team. Thinking it would go somewhere and disappear with all other submitted concerns, i was pleasantly surprised by their immediate response for solutions to the issue! Great team response!

Poor packing smashed toaster oven. …

You repaired my toaster oven promptly but did not use the same packing system that you sent me for sending the unit to you. That carton had foam blocks to hold my toaster oven securely in the carton. You returned the oven to me wrapped in bubble wrap. The door glass was smashed.

Breville Toaster Oven

I recently had an issue with my Breville toaster oven after I accidentally damaged the heating element. Even though the damage was my fault, I called customer service to see what my options were.

I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful and professional the representative was. They sent me a shipping box so I could return the oven for evaluation, which made the process very convenient.

After inspecting it, they sent me an invoice for $150 to repair it. I felt that was a bit high, so I reached out to discuss it. To their credit, they reviewed the case and reduced the cost to $112, which I appreciated and agreed to.

When I received my oven back, I was genuinely surprised — it wasn’t my original unit repaired, but what appears to be a brand-new replacement. That exceeded my expectations.

Overall, while the repair cost was more than I initially hoped for, I’m very impressed with Breville’s customer service and their willingness to work with me. Mistakes happen, and it’s reassuring to know they stand behind their products and take care of their customers.

Horrific Customer care policy to not…

Horrific Customer care policy to not accept returns on accessories. I order the wrong size replacement bowl and tried to return it in exchange for the correct size bowl. Was told that there was a zero exceptions return policy relative to this replacement part. To exacerbate matters the bowl I need is out of stock. I have many breville appliances including microwave, oven, mixer, and food processor. I have additionally bought the same items for my children as holiday gifts. I have been very satisfied in the past with the quality of the products but this kind of customer care leaves a really bad taste . There are other premium appliance offerings in the market. Don’t let this “policy” inflexibility override what your brand positioning strategy strives for.

Breville Lost a Customer Today

Breville lost a customer today, for life. In the past year or so I've spent about $4,000+ on their products (namely a coffee machine, kettle, oven air fryer—all in their fancy blue & brass colour to match my decor!). Yesterday (1 year after my purchase) the oven air fryer stopped heating. Today I called their customer service, and at first they legitimately tried to say it was 'out of warranty,' even though it was a 2-year warranty because it was a more expensive model. So I kindly argued, of course, and she finally admitted there was a "glitch," and it was reading it wrong. Well, it is in fact under warranty, but I have to mail the broken thing back to them myself. This brand that charges $1000+ for a single small appliance, can't have someone pick it up and deliver a new one, or tell you to cut the cord and discard it, or (AT LEAST!) send out the new one first. No. I have to go 15+ days without the oven, and take time from my very busy work schedule and lug their broken appliance to UPS. Somehow buying a "luxury" oven (that is my sole toaster for my breakfast, and my the air fryer part is my main means of cooking) means, if it breaks, the inconvenience falls on you, the customer who stupidly forked over a ton of money to this untrustworthy company.

Hey, Breville: When people spend thousands on your products, and your products break after one short year, maybe *you* should do more to ensure that, on top of your products being made cheaply and breaking quickly, the customer who trusted you doesn't have to go over half a month without their item? How is this remotely okay? This is why we need to start supporting smaller companies that still care and view people as human beings and not dollar signs.

Funny, because my Ninja blender broke a few years back, and when I called they sent out a new one that was with me in 3 days. They literally said on the phone, "We don't want you going without something that you use every day, so we'll get it out ASAP!" And that was that. As such, I purchased 2 of their other products and trust them so much.

If you're considering buying from Breville, heed my warning and consider other brands that still care about their customers first, please. And let's not let these companies get soooo big and so well-branded and recognizable that we confuse it with 'quality.' An oven this expensive breaking after a year is not quality. Making me lug the thing across town and wait over half a month (that's their estimated time, but I'm sure with customer service this poor it'll bleed into a whole month) to be able to make toast again is NOT quality.
