Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the staff and teachers for their patience, kindness, and engaging teaching methods, which make learning enjoyable and effective. Many people highlight the significant improvements in their children's understanding and confidence across various subjects, particularly math and English, attributing this success to the supportive and adaptable approach of the educators. The overall service and product are frequently described as excellent, with consumers appreciating the flexibility and the positive impact on their children's learning. However, some customers also noted issues with customer service, describing follow-up calls as aggressive and pushy. A few other people felt that the demo lessons were more focused on sales than actual teaching, and some experienced difficulties with communication, including language barriers with certain tutors and inconsistent information. There were also occasional reports of technical issues, such as blurry transmissions, and some found the tutoring level to be too easy or not engaging enough for their child.

Don't waste your time

You ask me to make my kid take an assessment that your demo instructor who is not a real teacher doesn't even look at before they meet. The demo lesson is more of a selling session than a demo. When asked a question, my daughter answered it and rather than ask for more details. The Demo teacher proceeded to give her the details I guess he had on his key. When I asked about certification because it says all teachers are certified, he said they were. I asked under what entity? He said oh no...they are all STEM certified...well I ask what does that have to do with with ELA...he answered that STEM does a little with ELA (wrong) and his whole intent was getting me to pay. Unhappy to have wasted my time. He was polite...that's why I gave it a 2 instead of a 1

Boring and not engaging for today's learner

The demo lesson was super boring and not anything close to what kids are learning in school. They said it was an assesment but we wanted to see the actual program to see if it was a fit. My daughter said no!

Dear Victoria,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry the demo didn’t meet your expectations.

The demo is designed as an assessment, allowing us to understand a student’s level and set up an effective learning path going forward, but we understand the importance of also getting a clear sense of the learning experience.

We’ve shared your comments with our team and will take them into account as we continue improving our demo sessions.

Kind regards,

The time and interaction during my daughter’s session was absolutely incredible. I appreciate the time put in. Unfortunately , at the moment I just cant afford to pay for getting my daughter the help that she really needs.

The demo teacher was wonderful but

The demo teacher was wonderful. The false advertising was not. They target single moms and make it seem like this is affordable and it is simply not affordable!

Dear April,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you had a positive experience with the demo teacher.

We’re sorry the pricing didn’t meet your expectations. Brighterly’s pricing reflects what’s included in the program: 1:1 tutoring with experienced educators, a structured learning approach, and ongoing quality control.

We aim to keep our pricing as accessible and fair as possible while maintaining that level of support, but we also understand that what feels affordable can vary from family to family.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective — it helps us improve.

Kind regards,
Brighterly Team

Love Brighterly

Love Brighterly! JerryAnn is the best. My son is very receptive to her tutoring and he is retaining more since we started. I plan to add a day because this is exactly what we need especially with my son going into 6th grade !

It was a positive experience overall

It was a positive experience overall, and I think the program itself is a great idea. However, I did find that the tutors had very strong accents and were not native English speakers, which I don’t think is ideal for an ELA-focused lesson. That said, they were very kind, patient, and gentle with my daughters.

Not Sure After Speaking With Agent

I liked the concept of this very much. The tutor was great and very sweet, but there were a couple of times where we couldn’t understand what she was saying due to her accent. Also, the demo session froze 20 min. in. Afterwards I purposely waited to get a call from an agent to further explain the subscription and to ask questions. I saw reviews about not being able to cancel and that they only pause your subscription and keep your card on file.

When I was speaking to the agent named Maya, she didn’t have the best bedside manners. She responded “do you hear me?” at one point in the call in which I responded that I can. When I asked her about the subscription and cancelling, she told me that it will auto renew once the program is done, which I don’t understand why if I am only agreeing to pay for the initial months selected. She said that she could send me a link and if I subscribed through it, it wouldn’t renew but I could always reach out to get the same deal if I wanted but the prices may change for the other packages later.

I told Maya that I would prefer her to send the link. When I asked her where they were based out of she said Las Vegas. I lastly asked if there was a way to obtain a tutor who didn’t have an accent and the line disconnected and I NEVER got a call back or an email link. Not happy and this really has me second guessing on using them.

Update: I did receive a call back from Maya a couple of hours later stating that she lost connection with me and then she had gotten busy with calls. She was able to answer my questions and provided me the link to make my payment. She also sent me a screenshot via email letting me see that I was not set up for reoccurring payments after the sessions were completed. She also stated that they do not keep your card on file. My son really enjoyed his trial class and I’m excited to see him improve in his reading.
