They ghost you when wanting to return items

I ordered a doll house for my daughter however wanted to return it. They responded to my initial email about returning it however three email chasers both to their direct email and on their website and they have ghosting every one.
I had the same issue with a smaller item I wanted to return back in April.
Would definitely not recommend buying from this company

I do not recommend this company

I ordered something on 30th September and haven’t heard a thing since despite emailing twice. The birthday the item was meant for has been and gone. When I paid it said “2-4 Working Days Standard Delivery (Tracked)” It’s now 21 days since I ordered.

Really impressed with this company

Really impressed with this company. They had a great Maileg sale with big discounts. The Items I ordered arrived quickly and when I had a query the customer service department were so helpful.

DO NOT TRUST!

I would have not even given one star, however there was not that option.

I had purchased of this website for my daughter’s birthday, with her birthday money she had received.

I have not received the parcel, nor have I received a refund. Don’t think I will.

It’s disgusting and unacceptable that this company have not made this right.
It was my 3 year olds birthday money from my grandparents her great grandmother and Great Nana and mine and her daddy’s money combined, oh and her great auntie! Altogether the money we spent out of her savings was £183.54 which was some of her birthday money!
Her birthday was the 09.07.2024 I said to my daughter would you like bits for your doll house and she said yes out of excitement. It’s now the 22nd August and the seller has not responded to my last email. It’s absolutely disgraceful!!!!!!!

I would stay clear from this website and put your money else where! I’m appalled to the customer service I have received if any at all. My poor daughter has not forgotten she still keeps asking when they will be arriving. I have said that until we receive your birthday money back we can’t afford to replace.

My 3 year old said ok mummy, I will play with my other toys. This has broken my heart! It’s a lot of money to loose and above all else she’s only 3 years old.

Dear Sylvana, you have left number of important details out of this review.

Principally that the item you ordered on the 11th July WAS delivered to your address within 24 hours on the 12th July via Royal Mail (Tracking number was supplied to you) for which I have proof of delivery.

You subsequently informed me that it must have been stolen from your doorstep and demanded a full refund (not replacements, which would be the more typical request).

You had ordered it to be delivered whilst you were away for the weekend, despite as you informed me later, knowing your area suffered from doorstep parcel theft. Had you mentioned this at the time of ordering we could have made sure it was delivered on a day you were home or from a parcel pick up. There were also other delivery timeframes available that you could have selected to ensure a later delivery time for when you were home to receive delivery.

You refused to report the theft to the police to get a case number so I could proceed with a claim against Royal Mail on your behalf. You also initially refused to sign a ‘Denial of Receipt Form’ acknowledging that you believed it to be stolen, so that again we could try to assist.

After correspondence from you demanding money back, I sought advice as to the liability in this case and was informed by Citizen’s Advice that as you had declared it stolen from your property and I have proof of delivery and that it had been delivered within the time-frame and in accordance with Royal Mail’s Tracked service, that it was not my responsibility to replace or refund your stolen parcel and that it was in fact a police matter and should have been reported. I advised you of this and explained that despite it not being my liability, I could still offer to assist putting together a claim to submit to Royal Mail in the hopes that I could be refunded (the cost price) and I explained that if we were successful, that I would be able to refund the full retail price to you (despite this being more than what I would have received in compensation from Royal Mail).

I’m not sure what else you are expecting me to do in the circumstances. This is my small business and you seem to feel that it is justified that I should be significantly out of pocket because you chose to order a parcel to be delivered when you were not at home, to an area you knew had issues with parcel theft and did not get in touch to make any provision for this before it was sent. You were obstructive in regards to taking any formal action in reporting it as a crime, despite that action assisting in making any claim, so I had only your word that it wasn’t there when you got home. Whilst I always like to give the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately, we have been the victim of delivery scams in the past, which is why I have the procedure of a denial of receipt form in place and request a police case number in such circumstances.

Furthermore, I had replied to your last email, on Friday 2nd August to update you that explain that claims take time, and to politely remind you that I was assisting as a gesture of goodwill. It is therefore very disheartening to read your comments about my lack of customer service - I feel I have gone above and beyond in this situation.

I really love this store

I really love this store, it was my first time ordering with them. I had a really positive experience purchasing quite a few items for my daughter’s Christmas presents. There was excellent communication via the website on the messaging portal, it was really nice to be able to ask questions, Katharine is lovely and very helpful. All the items I ordered were packaged really well and came beautifully presented. Their pricing is really competitive too. I will definitely be ordering from the store again.

Personal service

Was a little concerned that an item wasn't going to arrive in time as it was a birthday gift. Had a lot of personal attention from this company to avert this. They went the extra mile and dispatched two of the same item by different couriers to ensure I got it in time.
Lovely range of toys at competitive prices.

Ordered a gift for my daughter from…

Ordered a gift for my daughter from this site. It arrived broken. Initially, the customer service was brilliant - Katherine was lovely and very responsive. She promised a replacement in time for my daughters birthday, after I sent photos of the damage. This did not arrive, so I contacted the retailer and bright new things and was ghosted. They effectively stole £58 from me. Would not recommend and I’ll never buy from here again.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. Bought wooden toy robot construction. When the box was opened unfortunately one robot was broken and another damaged (in construction not BNT fault). Emailed and had quick response refunding in full and a telephone call to apologise and confirm. Excellent, friendly customer service, thank you Katherine.

Brilliant customer service

Brilliant customer service, I ordered a kitchen for Christmas, it took a bit longer than expected to arrive, but as it was for Christmas (currently november) it was no problem. Without me querying anything I had a phone call to explain why it was late and if I needed it urgently and if so they could get it to me the following day. As I only needed it for Christmas I didnt rush it however it was very personable to have a phone call and be asked before if even raised the question!

Beautiful toys great customer service.

Great products, good communication and great service. It is fast becoming my go to website for toys for my little girl or presents. Great quality and good promotions make it very hard to shop anywhere else.

Exceptional gifts

Every gift I have purchased from yourselves has been of excellent crafted quality …… and I’ve had quite a few , role playing at its best .Ordering and receiving confirmation and delivery of each order has been first class. The only negative I can say is if you’ve purchased a product and you write a review and get the voucher, your not able to spend against a sale item .

Granddaughters 1st birthday

The first one arrived damaged although packaging intact, emailed for a replacement & was sent one next day delivery this was all in working order very please with response.

Hadn’t used this company before and…

Hadn’t used this company before and wasn’t sure reading reviews about long delivery times, but it was brilliant, all arrived to N. Ireland in 2 days which was very unexpected and the quality of the products is excellent, thanks!

Lovely store, let down by poor communication

This shop has a really lovely range of products at good prices, but is let down by poor communication and lax delivery times.

The site is covered in banners that say: "Want this by xx date? Order it in xx hours", and advises shipping times of 1 to 3 days. I ordered a wooden kitchen for my son's birthday with plenty of time to spare. The day before his birthday the order hadn't even been shipped yet, so I emailed customer services and they didn't even respond to or acknowledge my message. The item did arrive a few days later (well after my son's birthday) and while I am happy with the product itself, it was disappointing to pay £3.95 to ship a £160 item and for it not to arrive in time as promised, or even receive any communication about why it was delayed. Not replying to customer emails is also extremely poor, and for that reason I won't be buying from Bright New Things again.
