I have been doing therapy and I love it! Was it always this easy? If I knew how helpful it would be, I would have done it much sooner. The medical appointments are a little iffy. The prescriptions get... See more

They unfairly bill you in advance before service
They bill you in advance before they tell you what the cost per session is and sometimes don't bill your insurance. I would recommend Octave, Headspace, or Meru Health over Brightside any day. They are much more user friendly and have exponentially better therapeutic value and fair billing.

My head space was dark and since my meds are right it is not dark at all!!
HIDDEN FEES!!!!
Went through the process of setting up an appointment and being told with my insurance that my copay was 0 only to be told after the fact that I was charged an additional “patient responsibility fee “ of nearly 300. Never using these thieves again. Hidden fees!

It was good for the need I had!
I used Brightside because I lost my insurance and therefore access to my medications. This was an incredible resource that I found to be decently affordable at $95/mo. I did not use any of their therapy services.
I felt lucky that I already had experience with my medications because there was a lack of thorough guidance from the psychiatrists I met with. I went through 2 different practitioners due to the fact that the first woman I met with (multiple times) was apparently not licensed to practice in my state. I was forced to pick a new doctor but the 2nd one was a much better fit, actually!
It was easy to pick my medications up from the pharmacy and the pharmacists were awesome about scanning coupons to make my meds affordable. There was one pharmacist who gave me medication warnings that the doctor didn't -- luckily I knew already but did need that reminder from that pharmacist for which I am thankful.
Overall, if you are in a pinch or lack insurance then this is a great resource. Just don't expect the practitioners to get super in depth with you, it's almost to the point where I'm sure if you asked after a medication you were interested in they would probably prescribe it to you even if you weren't in true need of it. I didn't care for that and felt like I was treating myself once the video calls ended.
It worked out while I needed it, but I will be honest and say that I am happy I got my insurance back and am back with my OG care team.
I would go back to Brightside if I were ever in need again.

Here is my complete review for Brightside. The therapist I got was okay to talk to, the lady prescribing the medication couldn’t care less, The company itself has a policy where they will charge you 165.00 for a cancelled appointment even though you cancel within the same hour of scheduling the appointment. They have no regard or understanding for people that have Medicaid and cannot afford to pay 165.00. The customer support is worthless, regardless of our situation. don’t even know why they exist. I will be going elsewhere, there are several other companies that accept medicaid.

I enjoy my therapist not so much psychiatrist
I enjoy my therapist. However the psychiatrist I didn’t feel as though her was invested in my sleep issues. Sleep deprivation was my main issue for mental health crisis. I understand she could not prescribe what the hospital did. However her responses to me in messages I felt was rude and uncaring. She told me to have my cardio doctor prescribe what she couldn’t as if that was ethical. None of the medications she prescribed helped me. The first time I reached out for help, it took her a week to respond. I have found another psychiatrist who may be more invested. I remain with my therapist with you. I am more upset that I had to pay $95 to cancel with her as my text to cancel didn’t go through timely, tried to reschedule to avoid the fee and then cancel. However that didn’t matter. Now I’m out of $95 for a psychiatrist that had no compassion.
