A fantastic course with great support. If you want to learn everything about Journalism, then this is the course for you. The course itself is in-depth, easy to follow, and you can study when you want. The tutors are quick to get back to you and they clearly want you to succeed. I can't recommend this course highly enough.

The Professional Freelance Journalism Course gave me the flexibility of online distance learning with valuable and insightful feedback from experienced tutors while providing a platform to launch my freelance journalism journey both in the UK and in the USA. An unexpected outcome of this journey was my TEDx talk in California – Community, Connection and the Art of Storytelling!
The course was not only a great way to hone my writing skills but was also cost effective with a manageable assignment load. Successfully completing the course gave me the confidence and credibility to pursue opportunities as a freelancer and I completed a copywriting internship at a marketing agency called The Marketing Eye based in Sussex.
The Professional Freelance Journalism qualification also led to writing for a local online news service called the Uckfield News also in Sussex. I had launched my Floral Photography blog, Fables and Flora, at the same time to keep up with my writing practice and combining my photography and writing skills gave my articles great traction.
The writing industry is a highly competitive one. As a freelance writer, there is no shortage of finding paid work but the difficulty is usually finding work that pays fairly and consistently. Finding a niche is helpful and my passion for the arts, creativity and connecting people was a great driver for my articles.
Freelance journalism was a valuable transferable skill to leverage when relocating from the UK to the USA. I began writing for an online news service called Patch and I am still a contributor several years later and I train others to use the platform as well. Writing also got me to work on a hyperlocal news project with Google which was great fun!
People often seek permission to pursue what they are passionate about but the only permission you need is from yourself! Take your turn and do something that fuels your creativity.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all at the British College of Journalism and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in the Professional Freelance Journalism Course.

This course kickstarted my career in wildlife conservation journalism and since finishing, I have gone on to write for a number of well-known international newspapers and magazines including BBC Wildlife, National Geographic Kids and National Wildlife Federation magazine amongst many others.
From the moment I enrolled in the Freelance Journalism Course my tutor was always at hand to answer any questions I had and guide me to become more confident in approaching editors and selling my stories. The course taught me how to tap into fresh ideas for feature articles, it taught me perseverance and the importance of not giving up (as rejection in this sort of industry is inevitable) among with so many other essential skills needed to succeed in this challenging industry.
It also taught me all I needed to know about effective writing, interviewing skills, editing, approaching editors, pitching stories and seeking payment for your pieces. I particularly liked all the useful tips it shared in each tutorial, with emphasis on how to get noticed among the endless emails and pitches that editors receive on a daily basis.
The course was split out into twelve tutorials with an assignment at the end of each. It was very flexible and allowed me to complete each assignment in my own time which worked perfectly for me alongside my full-time job.
I couldn’t recommend it more. Stop procrastinating and enroll!

I did my free-lance Journalism course with the British College of Journalism and I cannot recommend them enough. The whole process was not only seamless but very professional. I was pushed and challenged on the topics and it was for the best. You do not want an easy passage to get your qualification and this course certainly polished my skills up a lot better in the end...

The course was excellent and I could complete it with no impact to my day job. I developed the skill and style that has seen me get commissioned work ever since

I couldn't fault the college. Home works were reviewed throughout and promptly. I had a chance to go at my own pace and got valuable advice about my writing.
Thank you

Before enrolling in to Freelance Journalism course with the BCJ I searched the internet for an alternative provider of this course. After weeks of searching I come to realise that BCJ is the best provider of this course.
The course was a good value for money and support I got from my online supervisor was excellent. What I liked the most with BCJ was that I could pay for my course with monthly Direct Debt which was perfect for my financial situation at that time.
The other thing I liked was the BCJs flexibility with the assignment dates. During my course I moved to China for a work and could not complete my assignments on time. I was worried about this but my online supervisor assured me that, it is not a problem, I can complete them once I am settled in my new place.
I was guided through the course professionally with respect and understanding. At the end of the course I was very happy to pass all my assignments and receive my Press Pass. I would recommend BCJ to everyone and anyone who would like to study a course with this college

I loved my course, but I am slightly disappointed that I have not yet received any potential leads for places I could work with.
The note on the website reads "We guarantee we will continue to work with you after graduation if required. If you are serious about seeing your name and work in print, we’re serious about assisting you."
"Furthermore, we’ll also continue working with you until you see your first payment, even if it takes a year!"
Unfortunately, neither happened and I was looking and still am looking at some serious International Exposure. I quit the Indian media scene that year hoping I could pitch for some international news papers since I have a keen interest in Print and Digital media writing, but to no avail.
So while the course itself and the tutors (in my case Ms. Judy) are par excellence, I can't bring myself to give an All-star rating because the rest of it has not been delivered. I will change my Ratings once I do receive at least my first international opportunity, because then the College would have delivered in toto.

This company and course was very professional but also relaxed. I was always able to complete my assignments on time even though I work full time.
British College of Journalism always responded quickly when needed and would thoroughly recommend to others.

I enjoyed the course, there was so much information to digest helping me to develop as a freelance journalist and some great established industry experts sharing their knowledge and tips to succeed. Before the course end, I sent a query to an editor using the advice given and he invited me to send my article and published it. This reinforced my portfolio and gave me the confidence to press on and do the work with a perpetual smile. Thanks, BCJ!

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and continue to use the material for reference when writing. I particularly liked having a writing mentor, full of ideas, suggestions and guidance where necessary. Finding regular work afterwards is always a challenge and this is the only area where I would have liked a little more assistance. I do however fully appreciate how difficult this would be to achieve with a course like this. Overall, I have used much of what I have learned and would recommend it to others who want to learn to become a writer. I have been lucky enough to have had a number of articles printed since completing the course.
