Do not go here unless you’re willing to…

Do not go here unless you’re willing to be racially and/or religiously profiled and discriminated against. My 6 year old and I had an enjoyable time at the museum l, and whilst making our way to the exit, my daughter wanted to take a picture by some doors which had some beautiful gold, followers detail on it. Upon this, a member of staff stormed over and repeatedly demanded to know why I was ‘taking photos of the doors’. I explained that I wasn’t taking pictures of the doors at all and that I was taking pictures of my daughter. The questioning continued, and he even began to look at the door with suspicion. He wouldn’t answer my question and long story short, it became obvious his concern was that I was doing some form of reconnaissance for a terror attack or one thing. He didn’t ask anyone else despite them doing the same and similar thing as me but the difference is I was the only one that is Muslim - this is obvious because of my Islamic dress code. He then scuttled off in the opposite direction without giving me the opportunity to get his name. My daughter and I walked towards the exit, stopping at the toilets on the way. Upon leaving the toilets, the same member of staff appears and when we make eye contact, he runs up the stairs to avoid me. It then became clear he was following us. I requested to speak with a manager who gave me a less than satisfactory response - that he apologised & would review the CCTV. He also told me the staff go on an equality and diversity course, which I told him is worthless if people have biases and cannot stop themselves from discriminating against people, even at work. I even showed the photos I took of my daughter to prove what I was doing. I then left as even conversing with the manager was a waste of time and I am now considering legal action.

Can I see your legs?

Person at the gate asks ‘have you got a gun in your bag?’
I answer, ‘No’, ... then he asked.
‘Can I see your legs?’
Errr ‘No’ To that too...

The museum exhibits are utterly the best in the World, and my first visit was in 1971, but the people who run it today are horrible, unfriendly, mean personalities. Don’t get me started on the terrible Benugo cafes!

I wrote my complaint to the British Museum but I’ve never had a response from them. The people who check your ticket in just completely forget their manners, theres certainly no gooodmorning, good afternoon, they don’t even look you in the eyes, have no rapport, and no sense of human!

1. What exactly is this?

This event is a virtual, self-guided tour that consists of hundreds of selectable images covering over two million years of history.

2. Who is it for?

While this tour is likely intended for any person interested in global history, the web design and format indicate a more specifically targeted audience of young, tech-oriented individuals.

3. What can I expect to see?

Since this portion of the museum is virtual, the structure, unlike traditional buildings or monuments, is completely web-based. As a result, the artifacts are simply images with descriptions.

4. What is the site’s mission?

Since this site has no header or description of any type, there is no identifiable mission or message. However, like most museums, I think it is safe to assume that this one seeks to inform viewers about the history regarding the specified period and region. Considering the wide variety of plentiful information included, I would say this tour certainly fulfilled that mission.

5. How was the user interface for the tour?

The user interface was excellent as it was simple to operate yet aesthetically complex.

Overall, I’d probably give this tour a 4/5 since it was well put together but lacking in instruction. I prefer guided tours as appose to self-guided tours since it’s hard to determine what order to proceed in.
