Cancellation is the problem
Cancellation is the problem. You have to commit all in to use it and there were very few sites where we were. So, Tried to cancel but it was difficult as ever - and out of signal meant it apparently didn’t go through. They thrive on not making it easy and then refusing to refund you. Really sick of these sites that seem to grow off of tricking people out of money. Im sure the sites are great but it wouldn’t hurt to just make it easy to exit if it’s not for you.

I joined Brit stops for a weeks motor home holiday, and I unfortunately couldn’t find one single place to stop that week in North Yorkshire, so for me it was a complete waste of money. On top of that the motor home I hired was a disaster, they are a dreadful company to deal with, if you leave a security deposit, they will find a way to take a large chunk of it. I have reported them to police and trading standards .beware, unscrupulous, nasty little company , especially Nicola.
Buyer beware
Buyer beware
This morning I downloaded the BritStop app and applied for membership. Without flagging that this would happen, the parent company (Harvest Host) immediately put in a charge for £0.75...5 times. As Harvest Host are based in the US, my bank flagged this as a suspicious transaction and immediately blocked my card.
To be fair to BritStop, they did email a reply to my attempt to contact someone through the site chatbot, after several hours. (Incidentally, the chatbot told me someone would be in touch on Tuesday - today is Thursday - so that's a win I guess :/)
It seems the £0.75 charge is not actually a charge(?!), and it's what Visa charge them for verifying someone's bank details. My bank uses Mastercard, but I suppose it's wheels within wheels.
The upshot of this was an hour spent on the phone to my bank who, for security, told me my card would be cancelled and a new one issued - which will take 10 days to arrive. I have been able to download new card details to my Google wallet but (as we all know) contactless payments are limited to £100. I don't use credit cards - this one bank account is all I have.
In usual circumstances this would be extremely inconvenient but given that I am due to shortly set off on holiday, this has caused a nightmare. No bulk shopping, no meals out, and no family day trips. It won't ruin the holiday, but it will affect it considerably, and I'm heartbroken and angry in equal measure.
A very long post, but please, please be very careful with this app

A good place to stay each night
A good place to stay each night. Only one I wasn't happy with and I didn't end up staying there.
Found a gem of a pub
Found a gem of a pub
The Bell at Standerwick on the A36 just before warminster.
Just looking for a evening meal and boy did we fall lucky a small country pub with fantastic food well priced and an atmosphere that made for a fantastic evening. And to top off an invite to stay overnight.
Large car park just far enough off the main highway to avoid heavy traffic noise, warm and welcoming staff fully recommend a visit.
Easy to use App
Easy to use App. We have used it a number of times this summer and have visited places we wouldn't otherwise have heard about. Great App!

For 40+£ not worth it as most of the establishments charge or book you in for a meal so at least £40+ to stay park4 free much better and cheaper too. Reply from Britstops is that they encourage user to buy from businesses. That is what we do but when booking hosts often often want to book you in for a meal. Also Britstops need to do some secret shoppers and ring up some of these pubs and book and see what they say about charges.they might be surprised at there are monetary costs.

Simply pick the area you wish to visit and bring up the map of the area showing all the different stops available complete with all relevant information. Easy and hassle free, great stopover. Well worth the outlay.
Can be handy!
Britstops can be handy and we have stayed in a few good places as a result of being on the app for the last 18 months although sometimes places are not actually accepting Britstops or are closed or have felt unsafe so it's not a magical answer to camping!
Suits us!
We are happy touring in our motorhome without campsite facilities so Britstops is ideal for us. We joined in 2016 and have stayed at dozens of pubs throughout the UK and Ireland. Almost every experience has been great so we will remain members for many years to come.

Really recommend people give it a try
Have stayed 3 nights June and 3 July Devon and Hampshire, Norfolk 😊
The Old Red Lion
The Old Red Lion, Thame, Oxfordshire Great pub stopover, very friendly landlady. We had the firecracker chicken and rice, super food and so reasonable. Village shop in the pub too. Will come again.
Fantastic sites
Fantastic sites, we have never been disappointed but frequently are surprised at the high standard of the site and the venue & food available, the on-line directory is easy to use and tells you all you need, Highly Reccommended
Most are excellent with lovely people
Most are excellent with lovely people, a few are a bit pushy about you having dinner or buying things. There are rarely any services so you have to be quite self sufficient.
A lovely place to stay from BritStops
We stayed at Lotsmead PYO just outside Swindon. They told us we could pay £5 per night for electric hookup (which we done) which was located behind the shop. We were the only people there, so we stayed on the field and as we had a very long electric cable, we were able to plug in as long as the shop wasn't open (otherwise it may have been a trip hazard). The staff were really friendly, and we got some fabulous tasty strawberries and raspberries. We stayed for two nights and there are toilets available as well as a place to put rubbish. A really fabulous place to stay a night or two. I would definitely recommend it.
Britstops the ideal app.
Britstops is an ideal app to have in your pocket, no matter where you are there is usually a good stop over nearby. I have used it all over, including Ireland.
Love this set up
There are a few good campsites but generally they are too formal, not very friendly and not particularly attractive places. Brit stops for short term stops is absolutely my cup of tea, coffee and cold beer or warm beer if you prefer. Invited to join in with darts, eat organic produce at the farm shop, try the apple cider vinegar at the cider factory. The overnight spot adds to the experience and adventure rather than being a convenient place to park.
My most recent Brit stop was at The Brittania Inn, st Austell.
My most recent Brit stop was at The Brittania Inn, Nr St Austell. Absolutely fabulous place. Lovely field to camp, the venue has everything you can need. Clean bar, excellent food, picnic benches, outside stage for entertainment, and children’s play area.lovely friendly and helpful staff. Even serves a great breakfast, also accessible ( my husband is disabled)
