Don't waste your time on his books and movies. Amateur journalist
I'm tired of those so-called journalists, and Brandon Soderberg is one of them in my opinion. Both I Got A Monster book and movie are the biggest fail ever.
I had high hopes for this documentary based on the intriguing synopsis and the promise of a real-life cat-and-mouse game. However, the execution fell flat in every aspect. The pacing was incredibly slow, making it difficult to stay engaged throughout the film. The filmmakers failed to establish a clear narrative thread, leaving the viewer confused and disconnected from the events unfolding on screen.
Moreover, the documentary lacked a balanced perspective. It seemed determined to portray the police officers involved as irredeemable villains, while the victims were portrayed as one-dimensional heroes. This one-sided approach undermined the credibility of the entire story and made it difficult to empathize with any of the characters.
Furthermore, the production quality was subpar, with amateurish camerawork and sloppy editing. It felt more like a low-budget TV movie than a well-crafted documentary. I was particularly disappointed with the lack of in-depth interviews or insightful commentary from experts in the field. The filmmakers missed a great opportunity to provide a broader context and explore the systemic issues that allowed such corruption to occur.
Overall, "I GOT A MONSTER" failed. I would recommend seeking out alternative documentaries that handle similar themes with more skill.
Staying away from fake journalists and fighters for "justice"
As an avid reader and film enthusiast, I was excited to dive into the highly acclaimed book "I got a monster" and watch the corresponding documentary. Unfortunately, both the book and movie failed to live up to their hype and left me feeling disappointed.
Brandon Soderberg's "I Got A Monster: The Rise and Fall of America's Most Corrupt Police Squad" fails to live up to expectations. The writing is convoluted and lacks clarity, while the analysis feels superficial. Overall, it is a disappointing documentary.
