Absolutely disgusting company. Would never recommend. Our flight was late by just over an hour. When we got to Budapest airport, I rang the office, no answer. Then waited outside for the shuttle. No shuttle. Then eventually the airport information staff got through to them and they said they had given my car away. I had already paid but they said it’s ’not Their problem’ if my flight was delayed. The women on the phone was so rude to top it off. They left a family with a young child and old lady stranded and it was the middle of August in 35c heat. I have never experienced this with any other car company before where your reservation gets cancelled when it was out of your control with flights being delayed. Budget should lose their licence to operate. Disgusting company.

I would give them no stars if I could...made us to wait 1.5 hours at the airport under strong sunshine not answering the phone. After almost 2 hours they took us to the office where they just laughed in the face not giving infos for bad customer service. When requested a child seat, the manager s answer was go to Tesco buy one and fit it if you want....we had to go to Klass Wagen where they were so helpful and helped us with a car rental as the whole family was on the road in August at 37C...no more Budget rental for us, please please please avoid them not to be trusted, unrealable.

For the first time in my life I have experienced my reservation being cancelled with no explanation a week before. Imagine getting an explanation “unforeseen circumstances” do get it cancelled an even in the summer holiday. Off course I had to rent at a much higher price at a different branch. So please DO NOT trust Budget in Hungary at all, it is a scam!

biggest scam yet - easyjet sells car rental in Hungary whilst they do not have any idea of the demographics . Budget is about 20 mins from Airport and no communication on how to get there in airport ( some bus no one knows of) . and then ...once you get there by taxi...they are closed..surprise surprise ...money debited and well ...no car and stranded in middle of nowhere . between yourselves and your booking agent EASYJET you decided to take my rental fee , notwithstanding the fact that I had no rental car as you were closed !( and costs for the taxi and re rental of a car !!!

I recently had an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience with Budget Car Hire, and I feel obligated to warn others about their appalling service. Here's a detailed account of my ordeal:

Booking and Payment:
I booked a car with Budget Car Hire and paid nearly £400 in advance, expecting a smooth experience.

Pickup Disaster:
When I arrived at Budapest airport to pick up the car, the employees at the desk informed me that my booking had been automatically cancelled due to my flight being late. Despite my prepayment and confirmed reservation, I was left with no car. To make matters worse, there were no other cars available because it was the same week as the Hungary Formula One.

Stranded and Ruined Holiday:
This left me completely stranded at Budapest airport. I needed the car to visit family in Debrecen, and being without a car ruined our holiday. The lack of assistance and empathy from Budget’s staff was shocking.

Refund Nightmare:
A week later, I have been trying to arrange a refund, but Budget is now telling me that my reservation was never cancelled. This conflicting information has made the situation even more confusing and stressful.

Conclusion:
This experience has been the worst I've ever had with any car hire company. Budget Car Hire’s poor communication, lack of customer care, and unprofessional handling of the situation have been unacceptable. I strongly advise anyone considering renting a car from Budget to think twice and look elsewhere. Their service is unreliable and their customer support is abysmal. Avoid Budget Car Hire at all costs to prevent a ruined holiday and unnecessary stress.

After reserving with Budget car rentals through booking.com, they canceled the booking after almost one month for no reason although full rental amount was paid. After calling them to check they simply said car not available.

Update:
Yes you called me to cancel after almost a month and I had to find another car and paid double the price.
