These guys are scammers. They charge your card then change the terms of the move to give them more money. NO REFUNDS!

The experience started off well. The person booking my cross country move seemed kind and motivated. They asked for a detailed inventory list to ensure the best quote and accurate delivery window. I provided the EXACT number of boxes, totes, lamps, chairs, etc. and the quote was off by $2,000 ($2k off on an $8k quote)!!! When the truck showed up, I moved less than was on my quoted list! Once I had signed the original quote, customer service started to go down hill. The movers are supposed to call a day or two before the move, they never did. In fact, Budget switched the movers a day or two before the move and never provided the updated contact info. When Budget booked the move, there was a 3 day window for pickup and we noted I had to be out by Noon on the final day (due to selling the house and giving up possession). The movers showed up 15 minutes before Noon and were half staffed. I had to have other help come in to meet the deadline. No refunds or discounts provided by Budget and no real help in negotiation with the movers they booked. Also the original person that helped in Customer Service would not take my calls during the move. Beware with Budget. They are only in it to make their broker fee and don't really care about your experience or the accuracy of their information. If you have the chance to work with Vicki from Las Vegas, run for the hills, don't. Choose ANYONE else.

Worst service ever! Great at booking and taking your money. Terrible customer service reps. Was never given any of the paperwork or tracking numbers. When I called because the truck was late picking up trailer was told I’m just the broker you’ve already called here nothing has changed I can’t help you. The payment was supposed to be taken out on pickup and they already had my money. Called to ask when my shipment would arrive was told well have some one call you back, hours passed no call back. Called again and I was told something else. Absolutely rude and Kyle was the worst. I hope every time he makes plans they don’t go as scheduled

At first I was excited about using Budget. I could call the same person back directly and they would answer. Then I got a call from another Budget person who also had a direct line to call and get assistance. The first time I realized maybe there is an issue is when the carrier they contracted with to actually move my stuff United Moving Solutions said well Budget will tell you that but it takes longer than they say. Should have known then how this would turn out. I contacted my friendly Budget rep a couple weeks ago and was told 21 business days would take me to July 23. I called United Moving Solutions on Monday because my friendly Budget guy stopped calling me back or responding to emails and they said truck being loaded and should be here end of week. I called just now for an update and they told me my stuff is just now today being loaded and it will be here sometime next week. When I asked about what they told me on Monday she said well that must have been Budget Van Lines. No it wasn’t. It was United Moving Solutions and the exact same number I called today. She then said yes there were delays this week so we are loading now. Frankly, I am tired of United Moving Solutions blaming Budget and Budget saying it’s United Moving Solutions. We have waited the 21 business days as indicated in our paperwork, but now I just want my stuff. Some random day next week is ridiculous. They know when the truck is planned to leave and they know how many stops they have to make. You can’t convince me they don’t have some idea when they will be arriving with our furniture. My daughter is a school teacher and a good portion of the stuff in the load is her teaching supplies. Following the time frame they gave me it was reasonable to expect it to be here before school starts. Now I guess she will start without her supplies and tell them we are waiting for Budget Van Lines and United Moving Solutions to get their act together and get my stuff delivered. I have emailed Budget again. Waiting on response. Depending on how this plays out over the next week I will update whether my 2 stars stays the same or changes.

Update: I have upgraded my review to 3 stars. Not sure what happened but all of a sudden I hear from Jason with Budget and the driver calls and is on his way with our belongings. Arrived earlier than end of week as they had projected, which is great. The driver was amazing. Hard worker and unloaded most himself (even thought we offered to help). All in all, I would say this company is okay but it is very frustrating when Budget and the company they chose to contract with constantly play the blame game and make it hard for the consumer to know who to believe. Use with caution.

This is the worst service I have ever had. The moving company that Budget Van lines provided for me came with no tools to the job. They were not able to disassemble/assemble furniture. Because of that, they left an item of my furniture in the hallway and told us we would need to have our own tools to get it into the apartment. After leaving the item of furniture in the hallway, the item was then stolen. When asked what could be done about this, they told me NOTHING. The representative had the audacity to ask me, "oh it wasn't like an ikea table or anything was it?" It wasn't, but WHY WOULD THAT EVEN MATTER?!

On top of that, absolutely NO ONE called me in regards to my delivery for my move. I called multiple times for a week straight only to be bounced around from one person to the next with absolutely NO resolution. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. GO WITH ANYONE ELSE.

Booked my move three months in advance. One week prior got a call informing me they couldnt do it (no clear reason), but could contract it out to company that could. Contractor came, his paperwork didnt match mine and he asked me for cash! I declined. Loaded my stuff (may 31). Learned it could take up to 21 business days. Still waiting. Tonight i learned that it just now left the warehouse (june 23) and should arrive next week sometime. I will NEVER use Budget Van Lines again, nor would i recommend them to anyone.

I just had my late Mother's things moved from Charleston to CO. Doing my research I found Budget and Heather their Relocation Consultant. Heather listened to my needs and within what seemed like minutes had found someone to take care of my move. She kept following up made adjustments to my order and I ended up paying less than we thought it would be. I have moved more times than I care to count and this was without a doubt the best. My family was helping at one end and they have never moved in their lives and when the driver arrived, he was so courteous to them and when arrived yesterday at our home the very same.
As promised I let Heather know all was great and she just bubbled and thanked me over and over. So Heather this is for you, thank you for making our move the very best.

I'm very happy with the move. The crew was very nice, hard working and everything was as planned. The rep from Budget was friendly and called me each step of the way to keep me updated.

Paul was my representative and he was so awesome. I had such a stressful time limit for my move and Paul was so helpful, patient and courteous, it made my situation so much easier. I had so many issues come up and he helped me through it all. I would definitely recommend using Budget and Paul!

The 2 movers was great, friendly, professional and precise. I would absolutely recommend this company. The guys were super helpful and flexible. My move in date changed 2x due to weather and other issues and they still made it work. They were also incredibly efficient, getting everything loaded and unloaded in under two hours.

The move went incredibly well, everyone was so careful with the packing and transfer of the household goods, from the house to the moving van and also the unloading of everything. Not a single item was damaged. They were fast, efficient and courteous. We would not in the least hesitate to recommend them or use them again. Thank you for taking the stress out of moving.

Budget gave me great service at an unbeatable price! What a great deal! So happy we tried this.

Budget charged a last minute fee and held my possessions hostage. They should have informed me of the fee ahead of time. They also waited to schedule my delivery until 11AM the day of, rather than the day before or first thing in the morning. This made my desired drop-off window of 8AM-noon impossible.

They subcontracted and the day before the move they canceled. Not cool!!! I had it all set up 6 weeks prior. Left me scrambling.

Dishonest, do not use! They charge you for a falsified measurement of linear feet used and hold your belongings hostage until you pay. They use Estes Sure Move, and claim the truck is 28 foot. They charge by how much is left after you load your belongings, subtracting from 28 feet. But Estes Sure Move themselves admits the trucks are only about 27 feet (which I have a recording to prove). They forced me to pay more to get my belongings and then when the truck arrived and I took photos in front of the driver as proof and sent them in, they refused to do anything. They said I "waived my right" to refute by paying the extra to get my belongings back. My case was moved up to the manager (Dolores McBride), who refused to help. They should be investigated and put out of business for their corruption!!! If there are others out there that have resolved this, please let me know. I would like to do a class action against them, get our money back, and teach them to be honest moving forward.

You can also just google, "budget van lines reviews" and see tons of bad things about them and add more negative reviews. I wish I had before I hired them and got scammed! But I'm putting in a dispute with the bank charge, so hopefully I'll get the fraudulent charge reversed. An hopefully the DOT does something about their deceptive business practices and outright fraud!

If you've been scammed by them, take action! Make sure the pain they feel is larger than the money they scammed from you.

Dishonest and unreliable. Such a scam! Don't hire this company!

I used Budget Van Lines self service option and had a great experience. I'm a bit of a control freak so letting me load my own stuff but without having to drive a large truck across country was perfect. Because I only had a minimal amount of items, I did run into some issues with the first strap connector not being as snug as I would like, but nothing a little rope couldn't resolve. Going from Virginia to Nevada, I got my things fairly quickly, less than a week. Would recommend to everyone.

After placing a request for quote on their website, I was immediately inundated with calls and text messages (and emails) from other companies...I had already made my mind up that I would not go through Budget Van Lines based on these reviews, but I never saw anywhere on their website that they would send my personal details to other companies - this was unsolicited use of my details and for that alone, they have lost a customer in me (and anyone else I know). I appreciate the other companies who I spoke to being understanding, but alas they have lost my business too, as I will not encourage this blatant misuse of inquiry details.

Got a quote from Budget van lines who then contracted out to Gulfcoast movers. Our first quote was around 2400.00. When the movers showed up they said we had more weight the thought. Price then went to over 4000.00. When we received our belongings the boxes and plastic totes were smashed. I am not sure how anything made it. It was the most stressful move I have ever done. We normally use 2 men and a truck. They are awesome. Would never use Budget Van Lines or Gulfcoast again.
