Love them

I got the matching set for me and my son and they both fit so well! Iv gotten compliments every time I wear them, super comfy and I love the wide variety. Love that my child’s swimmers came with a matching hat, he looks super adorable in it.

Poor service and support

I tried to exchange a new never worn swimsuit that I was given for Xmas for a different size and felt berated by the Manly store staff for not having a receipt. They would not give me an exchange. I've never seen this from an apparel company. Surprised and disappointed.

Beware if you are considering international delivery

Beware if you are considering purchasing with international delivery! I ordered two items from Budgy Smuggler to be shipped to South Africa as gifts. Unfortunately, the shipment was not marked as a gift on the commercial invoice which resulted in really high customs duties being applied which I wasn’t able to dispute.

If Budgy Smuggler offers shipping to South Africa, there should be clearer customs handling for gift purchases, and a better process for enabling this or at the very least an upfront warning about the potential duty impact. I completely appreciate Budgy Smuggler do not set duties, but better shipping processes could have made this a much less unpleasant experience. I would not have placed the order had I known that shipping and duties would leave me around $150 out of pocket. The $100 duty fee would not have been payable had my gifts simply been marked as gifts. I’m hoping the products themselves are okay (if they ever arrive!), but the lack of guidance around international customs made this a very costly experience.

Budgies Are The GO!

Budgies are my absolute go to. More comformatble and last longer then the bigger brands. Ive just tested them in the coldest water the UK had to offer and they work there too! Great job team.

Canaleros Toledano swiming team

The customization, the fabric, and especially the colors. You are the best; I train every day in my custom suit. But we want Women Jamers and Men if possible. I belong to a significant and very famous swimming team in Mexico. Our coach is Nora Toledano, a Swimming Hall of Fame member. Next, I will push to have uniforms made for your swimming custom suits, but please bring Jammers. Jaja BEST LOVE cheers

I paid £10 on a Friday morning for one…

I paid £10 on a Friday morning for one day delivery for a gift needed on the Monday. It arrived six days later. No exceptions stated on website and very poor response from customer service.

Reply from Budgy Smuggler

G'day Lynette,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review!
So sorry to hear your delivery did not arrive as you expected. I can see you placed your order on April 18th which was Good Friday (a public holiday) and so then Monday when you were expecting your delivery was Easter Monday (also a public holiday).

I can also see that our team did dispatch your order on Tuesday April 22nd (being the next business day after your order was placed) and it was collected by DPD that day and delivered on the Thursday.
I understand this is one day later than the 'next business day delivery' stated on our website. Although this is out of our control, I can appreciate your frustration and I have refunded your full shipping amount for this.
If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know! :) - Emma

Love love love!

My husband and 16yr old son absolutely love Budgy Smugglers. Every year they love the Xmas surprise of what I’ve picked for them. The quality and designs are fabulous.
After a slight problem with my most recent order, I was contacted within hours and the problem rectified. I can not praise them enough for their product and customer service.

Tiny Trunks, Big Confidence: Smuggle like a pro!

Ordered the trunks due to their advertising pictures promoting all body types. (Refreshing to see not just six packs) They arrived quickly, fit well and turn heads in the pool. Based on this experience. I will be ordering a custom made pair for my partner.

BudgySmuggler Sparks Joy ✨✨✨

6 Rules Of BudgySmuggling

1. Commit yourself to budgysmuggling
2. Imagine your ideal pair/s
3. Finish discarding knee curtains
4 Tidy by new prints, not by rotation order
5. Place the right order/s
6. Ask yourself if it smuggles joy

Inspired by Marie Kondo’s KonMari method of decluttering boardshorts.

The Mrs. has never been so impressed by how neat my first drawer is until budgysmuggler came along, 40 pairs and counting!

I love BS

I love BS. I have bought from you before, even though it was mentioned many times that I haven’t (albeit once).

I am disappointed with your return system, it should be automatic and online, not reliant on a human at your end, but rather a selection process (like iconic or Amazon). You might get a few people abuse it, but the people who buy from you will increase to more than cover that. An easy return system is something I assumed all businesses had and I was shocked that BS didn’t.

I love that you have amazing matching cossies for the whole family, but unfortunately they’re not sized appropriately. There’s a reason you sell out of the larger sizes and not the smaller sizes, but you realise that right? There’s a reason companies are going down now, it’s because they’re not flexible and to just think something and not find out, is a bit der. Get some larger sizes and see how you go? You don’t have to do heaps, do you?

Secondly, increase your patterns rather than your styles, look to someone like Peter Alexander as inspo - if youre not already 😉

Thirdly, flood the market, flood it with your name, your brand, everything, engage your audience through influencers or whatever. I’ve personally found your market to be women from 35-60 - use someone from there - get family shots with matching cossies (they seem to love these). Have competitions, be everywhere, if there’s a beach shot/film, be in it. Supply home and away. Do whatever it is to be the name that people think of and go to for swimmers. You’re nearly there, replace Speedo. Get the Olympic team. This is the most sensible target market - they buy for the whole family and it isn’t a fad. I’m 53 and I do aqua aerobics at Sutherland pool and the women (all older than me) strut around like they own the place in their BS - it honestly makes me smile. These women otherwise feel inadequate and unseen but BS makes them feel special (do an advert like this). They always talk to me when I wear my old passionfruit one like we are in some sort of elite club (I am not sh$tting you) and then the other night one told me she had some other designs and I couldn’t help it (forgive me). I said “wow you must be a millionaire” (her hair dye told me she wasn’t) and she frigging preened and almost stroked her own feathers. That’s the hold you’ve got on the market. This is where you’ll make your most money.

Fourthly, get some merch out there that is rare and everyone wants, be the disgusting oversized Stanley cup next summer. A Turkish towel that rolls up to the size of a tissue (remember me when you make this), a bronzing sunscreen, a wetsuit, definitely NOT a key ring, a bottle opener or a cup thing. Something really cool that keeps you woke and around for a long time.

Filthy (I typed 5thly but I like this better now), I loved the casual communication from whomever I was dealing with, it wasn’t a twit parroting politically correct nonsense. Thank you. I did want the cashola.

Anyway, that advice is certainly worth $150, I look forward to hearing from you. 😉😂

Free the love

I know you like to free the thighs, however my recent purchase was a high cut version suit. Tagline free the love handles. I definitely don't look as good as the Olympic divers, but I will still try and rock em'!
