Total scam

Total scam! Received a letter advising that my company would be dissolved/revoked if I didn't file my annual report which I've already done through the Secretary of State. Don't fall for this. Trash the letter.

I received this letter today

I received this letter today. It looked legit. I said to myself I never received anything like this. It stated my business would be revoked if not paid by July 31st. I scanned the bar code but didn’t go any further. I decided to check the address only to find this was a scam. I never got to see how much they was asking for. I figured that was also strange that the amount was not in the letter. Follow your gut. If it doesn’t seem right investigate.

Scam letter

I received a letter threatening that my business would be dissolved or my LLC status revoked if I did not pay registration fees by a certain date. This company is a scam and I cannot understand why something is not being done about them and other scammers out there who are using the postal system to mislead potential victims.

*****BE WARNED*****DO IT YOURSELF*****
Received a letter from busfile.org, stating my LLC is jeopardy of losing its status and may be revoked. The letter looks official and refereed to Sec. of State for VA.
I paid the fee and realized 2 days later I just paid $225 for a $50 fee. I called busfile.org - they returned half of my money and business fee was paid to the State. They took me off the annual renewal and we parted ways.

Don't do it

Don't do it! I assumed this was my annual business filing letter from Virginia until I saw the price. Then I knew it was a scam.

VIRGINIA ANNUAL REPORT DUE / SCAM

We received a letter that said my wife's LLC would be dissolved or revoked if we didn't follow the link and file an annual report. I checked the VA SCC and found that her business isn't required to enter an annual report, nor is it even possible. But, just out of curiosity, I followed the link (to a certain extent) and, what do you know, they wanted $225. Scam.

Deceptive company trying to get clients by other than straightforward advertising

I received a notice in the mail from Busfile.org stating my LLC here in VA would be dissolved or revoked if I don't file my annual report. Scare tactic. I soon realized that it was a scam. This company has in very ultra fine print that they are no associated with any Government office and they provide services to LLC's to ensure their annual filings are completed yearly. For $225!! Again, this is a scam. Do not give this company your money.

Busfile KY 2025…

I recieved a letter about filing my annual report to my sec of Kentucky office which does require you to file and I thought this was from them at first looked offical except it didn't take you to there website so I knew something wasn't right. I googled and saw where this is a total scam. They even have trust pliot rating and .org as a way to make you think they are legit. I gave them nothing and am reporting them to the authorities. I hope this helps someone from not falling for this scam.

Misleading scam

Today, I received a notice in the mail from a company called Business Filing LLC. The document was designed to resemble an official government communication, warning that my Virginia LLC could face dissolution or revocation if an annual report wasn’t filed by June 30. The only mention that this was from Business Filing LLC was hidden in fine print at the bottom of the page.

Here's the issue: Virginia does not require LLCs to file annual reports. Unlike some other states, this simply isn’t part of the regulatory process. At best, this company demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of the very rules they claim to help business owners navigate. At worst, it’s a deliberate attempt to mislead—offering an unnecessary service based on a distortion of legal requirements.

Adding to the deception, the company uses a .ORG domain (busfile.org), which could falsely suggest they are a nonprofit or public-interest group. They also prominently display the Trustpilot logo, presumably to boost their credibility.

I’m sharing this to help raise awareness and prevent others from falling for what appears to be a misleading—if not outright fraudulent—solicitation.

Postal mail and email scam for annual business reporting

Received a piece of postal mail and a separate email with urgent tones regarding annual report submittal for my LLC business. It was designed to mimic an official state notification and only after reading the light gray, small type disclaimer at the bottom was it clear this was not affiliated in any way with the state business administration. Requests to the NC secretary of state office confirmed this was a common scam seeking to trick businesses into unnecessary and greatly overpriced "services". Avoided using this supposed service and filed my annual report in the official procedure with the NC SOS as normal and with minimal expense.
