I have noticed i have been charged £15 a month for something I didn't intentionally sign up for. I must have bought a book at some point 4 months ago and have been charged without realising buying a book signs you up for membership.
I've contacted the company to ask for a refund. It's false advertising. They need to make their rules more transparent.
Very disappointing.

I am sorry to hear that you did not pay attention to the information we've provided throughout our intire website, but we are in no way scamming.
As we state all the way through our website, we are a members club, and by choosing our members price it is required for you to sign up for our membership. This information is handed to you from the start to the very end. When you come to our website you are welcomed with a pop-up window telling you all this, as well on the front page on a banner, each of our products, on the product page, in your basket, when finishing the purchase. Before you even can complete the purchase you have at the very end the requirement to accept the membership conditions in order to finish your purchase. Hereafter you receive a confirmation of both your order and membership.
Due to us being a book club we offer our customers that they can choose to shop as a member or simply as a guest. You choose if you would like to purchase at our exclusive members price, which includes reduced shipping fees and our products at cost price, or you can shop at our normal price which is also great.
All our prices we offer are great, but as a member you get the opportunity to shop at our cost prices which provides you with an opportunity to make great savings every time you shop with us.

Buuks is not a scam.
You can either purchase at full price with no membership, or purchase at members price and pay a monthly subscription of £15.
It does explain this when you purchase. You can log in to your account & cancel your subscription anytime after the first monthly payment. Very simple.
I ordered 10 books at less than half the price they are anywhere else and paid the £15 for 1 month. Saving myself £40. Minus the £15 membership I still save £25. If you read a lot of books it's well worth it. If you only read a couple of books a month then it's not worth it. I read 2/3 books a week and for me it is a great saving.

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't paid attention to the membership when you've been shopping with us. Prices are lower for members than for guests, and therefore buying at member prices requires a membership of 139 SEK/month. This means that when you choose to shop at member prices, you also establish a membership.
This is stated in several places on the website:
- On the first page when you enter the website.
- On the product page. There you can choose between member price or normal price. The information box explains what the member price means.
- In the shopping basket, as soon as you have added an item to the basket at member price.
- In the checkout, under the order summary, it is explained what it means to buy at member price.
- You cannot proceed to payment without actively ticking that you have read and accepted the membership conditions.
- Finally, on the order confirmation, it states that you have subscribed, the price, the commitment period and "see conditions below"
As a member, you have access to buy all products at cost price, and can therefore save money on your purchases. However, this requires that you take note of the information and conditions, and cancel your membership when you no longer need it.

I purchased a book from buuk.co.Uk last year September and their company signed me up without my consent into their membership list, they were deducting £15 pcm from my account which I realised today,I visited their website and I saw their terms and conditions that stated that if you buy book from their website you will be automatically subscribed to their website, you're given a grace period in which you can cancel the subscription however if you don't cancel it within those days, you are obligated to pay an amount of £15 every month to them.I bought a book only once from them and I have never visited their website again. I have never received email from this company regarding my membership or any direct debits as a customer. Their staff is trained to fight everyone who calls to ask for a refund. A member must have an account to be able to log in and purchase a book or for a first time buyer that has agreed to be come a member the company must provide log in details via email for the member to access their accounts however I did not received any log in details to access my account but your staff is claiming that I agreed to the terms and conditions which is not true as I didn't signed up to any membership. l will be taking legal action against your company with THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, and the ombudsman association.

Bought one book and have been charged…
Bought one book and have been charged £15 a month ever since. I didn’t realise I’d subscribed as it wasn’t made clear. They’ve taken so much money and I’m fuming. I feel stupid for being duped but I suppose essentially it’s my own fault. You should be ashamed of yourselves as I’m sure you’re aware of what you’re doing. To be doing it throughout COVID makes it ten times worse. I hope somebody reads this and it saves them from being ripped off.

Shady company, unhelpful staff
Purchased a small childrens book for my nephew back in November 2021. The price was reasonable and not out of the ordinary. Upon loosing my debit card recently I checked to see if there were any unusual transactions on my account and noticed I had been charged from Buuks.co.uk £15 OEM. I called their customer service to understand what had happened and was told I paid the members fee for the book which meant signing up to this amount each month. This, whilst mentioned on their website home page wasn’t made clear to me when purchasing this specific book (I was never on the home page) I asked the customer service rep to check if I have had any other activity on their website since, i was told no. I said I’d be willing to pay the difference in the “members” price to the standard price and even suggested being okay with being charged 1 month of the members fee as I should have checked my account sooner but wanted to see if I could be reimbursed the difference. Again i was told no.
Considering I have had no emails from this company other than my proof of purchase in November, that the details weren’t made obvious to me and the company’s unwillingness to rectify the problem I advise all potential customers to give this website a miss. I have pretty much paid £90 for a small children's book worth £4.49 (sorry, that’s the membership price!) £9.99 (standard fee)

Do not make any purchase on Buuks as they cover a monthly membership fee (129 sek). I discovered and tried to understand this monthly fee on my account by contacting their support, but no answer from buuks. You have to actively remove your membership. I pay 7x129sek without even using /knowing about his membership. Really bad business strategy cheating customers.

Do not make a purchase from this company. The company works on a subscription basis which is not clear at the start. You will be charged £15 per month without knowing. You will not receive a separate email explaining what is happening and/or your entitled 14day cooling off period 'Your consumer right to a cooling-off period for goods and services purchased at a distance comes from the Consumer Contracts Regulations'.
You will see the same response given every time by this company which is thematic and disingenuous unapologetic. This company is likely to meet its match with a case before Trading Standards and the Court.
