Confirmed our tour in writing, then cancelled the night before

We booked Chris Mehr's guided UTV tour (Beyond Yellowstone, byellowstone.com) for five adults at $160 each, for Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM. He confirmed it in writing. On Thursday evening, July 30, he asked us to move it to Friday, with no reason given. We explained we couldn't and asked to keep our slot. He said he had shared that with his team and would get back to us with more information. He never did.

I followed up on Friday at 5:12 PM. At 5:15 PM he wrote that the tour "remains scheduled for August 1 at 10:00 AM as originally planned." At 8:58 PM he wrote again that it was "all set," with the meeting point and payment details. He cancelled later that night, when it was too late to book anything else for Saturday.

He then said his guide had quit. He also said he had been "training a new guide today and working on getting the required permits," and an hour later said he had not been training anyone.

The tour was arranged through messages, with payment to be cash or Venmo. No money was ever paid.

When we finally reached him by phone, he cut me off with obscenities directed at my mother and ended the call shortly after. We were still staying in one of his rental properties at the time.
